Open Youtube on your computer Click your user icon in the top right of the screen In the menu that appears click on - Purchases and Memberships You should see Offers from YouTube with Premium being one of the offers If you are on your Phone the first thing to click is your user icon but it will be at the bottom right of the screen, then click the settings icon (a gear shape at the top right) and again go to Purchases and Memberships. Hope that helps. YouTube Premium removes the ads from videos, it also gives you some premium content although I don't think I've ever watched any. It also give you another app called YouTube Music which is a nice music only player where you can create playlists etc. Also with Premium you can turn off your phone screen and the music or video will keep playing so you can hear without the screen on. This is great if your phone is in your pocket and you are using headphones to listen. Normally Youtube stops playing if the screen is off.

Safeguard your Credit/Debit Cards!
Freddy42OZ replied to khunjake's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Happened to one of my Kasikorn virtual cards recently after buying something through a FB ad. They refunded the amount to my account after one phone call, no questions asked. Very impressed by their customer service. Only hassle was creating a new virtual card and updating all the online subscriptions that were charged to the cancelled number. -

I bought some protein drinks that were on offer. 49 baht each but 88 baht for 2 (so 44 baht each). I gave the guy serving me the stamps I had and got another 8 baht off. Then with my change he gave me 10 baht in new stamps. Can't complain about that! Reminds me I need to go back and buy more protein drinks 🙂

UK pensioners flock to luxury retirement resorts in Thailand
Freddy42OZ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My mother had dementia (dad too) and she stayed in her own home until she died last year. She had live in care which cost 1500 quid a week for about 6 years, for the previous 5 years while Dad was alive they had a care agency that came 4 times per day, I believe the cost was about 1000 pounds per week. They didn't get any financial assistance because they had plenty of money. Would have been great if they'd moved out here and just rented out their massive house in the UK, instead of wasting away on their own and spending all that money on care. -
Plenty around On Nut, Phra Khanong, Bang Chak areas. Bangkok is huge, I guess it depends how much of Bangkok you consider the Central area to encompass. I'm in Udomsuk but I can be in Phrom Phong or Asoke using the BTS within 12-15 mins of walking out of my condo. I wouldn't call where I am Central Bangkok but I'm only 15 mins away so I might as well be.

High electric bill
Freddy42OZ replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Lower than 25? I'm cold if I put my AC on 27C so I only put it on for very short periods of time. I wasn't in my condo during Jul, Aug & Sept but I was back here from Oct 1st. Here are my bills taken from the MEA Smartlife App. 50 sq/m with 2 ACs (used minimally), 2 computers on 24/7, very large fridge, 2.5 cubic meter chest freezer, 3 large (49", 85" & 34" TVs with the two largest on all day), 1 fan on 24/7, 1 fan on about 12-14 hours per day, I also use a toaster quite often and do a lot of cooking with the microwave. The MEA announced rate cuts for Sept to Dec, so everyone's bills should be lower than normal. Mine certainly is! -
High electric bill
Freddy42OZ replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Condos usually give you the actual bill so you only pay for what you use. Apartment buildings are the ones that don't show the real bill and charge an extra 'service charge' . There are limits to how much extra they can charge however. And its the MEA in Bangkok. The PEA is for people living outside of the Metropolitan area. -
How do you think Thai people REALLY feel about Farangs?
Freddy42OZ replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Well if they judge all Farangs based on that, then they are as stupid as Farangs who judge all Thais on the actions and reactions of a few low class Thais. -
Saw that. Not a single menu or price to be found. Completely useless as an e-commerce page. They might have great products but they aren't doing a very good job of making potential customers aware of their products/prices.

All these items that people say are more expensive are negated by how cheap rent and utilities are. A two bedroom flat in Enfield is 65,000 baht per month (did a quick search and picked Enfield as its where my grandparents used to live and the only place I could think of to put into the search, I'm sure in more central London prices are significantly more), whereas in central Bangkok you can find a nice 2 bedroom place for 30,000 baht per month. So if your rent is less than half what you'd pay in the UK who cares if a few imported things cost more. Back home in Hong Kong an equivalent condo to the one I live in here in Bangkok would be 100,000 baht a month or more.

Not that specific event but there is enough info in this report to see that Hamas are just backwards animals who haven't evolved since they were herding goats in the desert 2000 years ago. They are cavemen with automatic weapons. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-video-of-hamas-terror-attacks-war-in-gaza/

Freddy42OZ replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Most Thais have almost nothing to do with farangs, they very rarely interact with Westerners, so they probably don't have any thoughts about us. -
I really like the new font. Its clean and modern. It's also nice and small and looks way better on my 4K display.

Do you never want to have interesting conversations with people? Do you not like talking to attractive, smart women? If you are single what do you look for in a potential life partner? Aside from someone who turns heads, I would hope that their ability to engage in meaningful discussions on a wide range of topics would be on the list. For example, my Russian GF and I had a really good chat the other day for over 2 hours, about the situation in Gaza. Not only is she very attractive, but she's also very intelligent and knows what's going on in the world. It's good to know whether you and your partner agree on things like that, otherwise there is potential for conflict.

One issue with hydrogen is that despite being the most common element in the universe, it is mostly attached to other elements. The process of extracting it currently uses a lot of energy (using fossil fuels). However a large potential reservoir of white hydrogen was recently found in France, and there may be a lot more in other places. Article from the 29th Oct, 2023 https://edition.cnn.com/2023/10/29/climate/white-hydrogen-fossil-fuels-climate/index.html

The condo where my GF lives has charging stations in the carpark. I've seen quite a few condos in Bangkok that have them. Also I keep seeing more charging stations appearing around the city. I'm not sure of the long term outcome of EVs. All I know is they have awesome torque so they are great to drive, the new models from China are getting really good, for example the new BYD Seal is a lovely looking car.

Not even slightly gay. I just find it bizarre that you see so many older Western blokes in Thailand that look like they've given up trying to look good.

They have no website and their Youtube channel has only 2 video and no links to any contact details. I really wonder why some businesses make it so hard to contact them.

IKEA to open new branch at Sukhumvit of Bangkok in December
Freddy42OZ replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Do you know Central Embassy? Zara have 2 large units on 2 floors, and they pay zero rent. Other big name brands also pay nothing because they bring people to the mall. I suspect IKEA will have a very good deal as they are a major consumer magnet. I suspect that new IKEA will bring a lot of business because people living lower down Sukhumvit than Thonglor probably can't be bothered schlepping all the way out to Mega Bangna. I live in Udomsuk and I'd rather go to the new Ikea in Phrom Phong on the BTS than have to take a taxi to Mega Bangna, even though MB is a great mall with plenty of good shops. -

A bit of a walk? It's less than 400 metres from Louis Vuitton at Emporium. -
I see so many men here who don't seem to care that they look like trolls. Overweight, poorly dressed, eyebrows like a privet hedge, more body hair than a moose; added to which they aren't exactly very dynamic individuals, so why would any really attractive, intelligent woman want to even look at them, let alone engage in conversation.

Did you get the easy way in life or the hard way?
Freddy42OZ replied to Chris Daley's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My father was a highly paid expat. We lived in several countries in the Middle East (I was born there) before settling in Hong Kong in 1973. Dad did very well in his career and the family enjoyed annual holidays pretty much anywhere we wanted, so my parent's took us to Africa, Canada, US, S. America and of course all around Asia. I went to international schools and then to a top boarding school in the UK. I skipped Uni because I knew I could use my father's connections to get a job, which I did a few times. Basically grew up very comfortable, never wanted for anything. Life has been great.
