Border run from Phuket trying to avoid minivans.
jas007 replied to Tim K's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One Tim I did a quick flight to KL and back. I never even left the airport in KL. The cost wasn’t very high from Phuket. -
I hope whoever took that picture got some big bucks for it.

Watch this. At around the 7:20 mark, Clayton Morris will play the video. https://youtu.be/5t9Qc3MOPww?si=a2hHELFtAdYvpyCw

As for the “sequence of events “? Don’t forget the video. There’s an actual video of the Secret Service snipers up on the roof, looking at the shooter through their scopes for at least 42 seconds during which time they did nothing. They knew he was there, they knew he had a rifle, and yet they watched and waited. What were they waiting for? An engraved invitation to go ahead and neutralize the shooter? I don’t know what the rules of engagement are, but I assume those guys are up there to do one job. Protect Trump. If a guy crawling around on a roof with a rifle in close proximity to Trump isn’t an obvious threat, what would be? Certainly they don’t need anyone’s permission to do their job. Someone has some explaining to do.

I sometimes tend to forget that I have access to hundreds of thousands of albums via my music subscription services. Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz. So, once in a while I’ll explore music I’ve never heard before. That can be fun.

I opened a Kaisikorn account almost 20 years ago, but at the time I never bothered to set up online access, and I’ve never tried to use my debit card anywhere but at an ATM machine. It has been that way ever since. I wire money to the account once in a while, and it always shows up. The way I find out it’s there is by using the ATM. Works for me, and I don’t have to worry about my online account being hacked.

Monetization of YouTube
jas007 replied to JetsetBkk's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I keep seeing ads and posts from people supposedly making big money from YouTube videos. I assume most of those people are just trying to sell you something. A secret formula. And that’s how they make money. As for monetizing a channel? It’s probably not that hard to do, if you’re persistent. Start a channel, pick a subject, and post content on a regular basis. Gain subscribers and views. But even if you do that and do it for a long time, you might not make much money. Some people seem to have a parallel Patreon account. Subscribers can also subscribe to the Patreon channel, for a small fee, and see additional content that’s not available on YouTube for whatever reason. Maybe that works. -
I guess people can use whatever title they want to use, but in my experience, the only people typically using the title of Doctor are practicing medical doctors. I once had a great uncle that was a medical doctor. And he used that title until about age 95, when he finally retired. At that point, he started calling himself Mr.

Well, at least the post is in the right forum. The Steve Miller Band. I haven’t heard them for a while.

That’s plausible. I wouldn’t hold my breath for the results of any official “investigation’” though. At this point, what credibility do the officials have? Kennedy was assassinated over 60 years ago and the facts of that incident are still sealed. Or consider the do-called investigation of 9/11. Another coverup. In my mind, neither the “officials“ nor the mainstream media have any credibility. Their function is to say whatever they are told to say.

Just a quick comment about the FBI statement. Did you see the BBC interview with the guy who pointed out the shooter to the police? The local police knew there was someone on the roof. And the snipers knew there was a guy on the roof well before Trump was shot. There are videos that show that. Most definitely. This whole incident is looking more and more like in inside job of sorts. And what about the lady in the crowd directly behind Trump. She seemed to be expecting the attack. At just the right moment, she puts down her Trump sign, picks up her phone, and begins taking a video. While everyone in the crowd is in panic mode, she’s sitting there with her camera taking a video, cool as a cucumber.

Which is the best airline to fly to Thailand?
jas007 replied to RolandRat's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
From the USA I’ve flown Thai Airlines, Delta, and United. I used to like the Thai nonstop flights in Premium Economy (from either JFK or LAX), but those flights no longer exist. Delta Premium Economy was ok, but when I tried to buy a ticket last time, the price was high, so I went with United in a Premium Economy seat. That flight was priced well, compared to Delta. -
My gut health has taken a turn for the worse.
jas007 replied to advancebooking's topic in Health and Medicine
Supposedly, antibiotics can damage your gut microbiome. You might kill off some of the good bugs along with the bad ones. Have you tried a three day water fast? And after that, eat no sugars, no fructose, no carbs. Just high protein foods and some green leafy vegetables. See what happens. -
If I see the story again, I’ll post the link. Some people have suggested that the supposed comment from the counter sniper guy could have been manufactured by anyone, so it could all be disproven at this point. There are videos, though, that seem to show that the shooter was in the sniper’s sights for a while before he was killed.

I haven’t read all pages of this thread, but I have followed all the various theories about the shooting on the X website. Lots of questions raised. Not many real answers yet about anything. But to say anyone who questions the apparent happenings as “fantastical far-fetched fantasies” is naive. Could the shooting have been merely an unfortunate confluence of events? Poor advance preparation by the Secret Service? Poor training of recent DEI hires? Gross negligence? A disturbed 20-year-old kid who happened to be a poor shooter coupled with a target who moved his head unexpectedly at just the right time? Anything is possible, I suppose. Questions: In a statement allegedly written by the Secret Service sniper, he indicates he had the shooter in his scope for several minutes, but was denied the authority to eliminate him until AFTER the shooter was able to get off a few rounds. How does that make any sense? Is that really the protocol? You see the president is in danger, you see that person has a rifle, but you need authorization to eliminate the threat? That doesn’t make sense to me. Moreover, this scenario suggests the possibility of a coordinated inside job. Authorization was withheld just long enough to allow the shooter to shoot. Witnesses near the shooter’s location reported the shooter to the police, but somehow, Trump was allowed to remain on stage. Apparently , the police did nothing. Again, this suggests either gross incompetence or the fact that that’s what was supposed to happen. All things considered, my conclusion is that, at a minimum, the Secret Service protection was, in this instance, grossly incompetent. Whoever is running that agency should resign. On the other hand, I can’t rule out an inside job. Far fetched, maybe. But not impossible. The Deep State will stop at nothing to keep Trump out of the White House again.

The USA vote process & Illegal migrant voting!

Tiny? The actions of the Democrats these days would suggest otherwise. -
Booking.com is part of the same group of companies. It seems to work well. And, unlike Agoda, you can use Apple Pay, for anyone who likes to pay that way. I’ve only used it a few times, but I’ve never had a problem. Just last night I used it to cancel one reservation and book another, and by this morning, my credit card account was already credited for the refund.

Sony A7 IV. Has anyone here tried it?
jas007 replied to jas007's topic in Photography Equipment and Tools
That’s a nice picture. The LUMIX cameras are interesting. I’ve been looking at the S5II. And the fact that Leica makes the Lumux lenses is also a plus. I wonder if there’s much of a difference between the Leica lenses for Lumix and the Leica lenses it makes for Leica cameras? -
In my experience, the quality of one’s life in the USA can vary greatly, depending on the location. When COVID ended and Thailand opened back up again, I came back to Thailand. Why not? I suppose I could get on a plane and go back at any point, but things would be a bit more expensive now, with all the inflation there. I don’t have a car here, so that’s an adjustment , but otherwise, I can do most of the same things here as I could do there. Here I’m at the beach, but many places in the USA have no beach, unless you’re willing to shell out big bucks. Here, the cost of living is cheaper for that reason alone. All in all, I think it’s really nice that here, I have absolutely no money worries whatsoever. In the States, if I had a house again, I’d be spending all sorts of money unnecessarily. Property taxes, insurance, huge utility bills, home maintenance, auto insurance etc., all just to sit there and fantasize about living on a tropical beach somewhere. I have friends who I’m sure think I’m crazy. Anyway, I can do whatever I want, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. This year I’m going to try to do more traveling around Asia. It’s cheap enough.

I agree. Not long ago, I went on a modified carnivore diet for several months. No sugar, no fructose, nothing containing high fructose corn syrup, no carbohydrates, nothing containing processed of ultra processed food, no bread or grains of any kind, no seed oils. Just grass fed beef and some salmon once in a while. Eggs once in a while. I had some green leafy vegetables on occasion as a salad. I lost about 15 kilos or so in six weeks. Since then, I’ve added some limited carbs on occasion, and more vegetables. I’ve kept off the weight.

$22.00 Burrito in SF now, the world has gone mad.
jas007 replied to EVENKEEL's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Just to add a quick note. Do some research on the destruction of food processing plants across the U.S. Search for an interactive map of the destruction of food processing plants. It would seem as though a deliberate effort is underway to restrict the U.S. food supply. In Europe, they’re using a slightly different method. Under the guise of protecting the planet from greenhouse gases or whatever, they’re taking farmland from farmers. -

I’m too optimistic? Maybe. I think the whole digital money thing may not happen anytime soon. That’s the key to controlling people, for sure. But try taking their money away and watch what happens. They say they’re also trying to control the food supply. Couple the limited availability of food with a digital currency as the only “approved “ method to purchase food and you’ll see trouble, I think. But that seems to be a part of the plan. -
I first came in the year 2000. The airport back then was DMK and I don’t think there was a Skytrain, or if there was, they were still building much of it. And I can remember eating at Woodstock in the afternoon. A burger and a few beers. They had movies on during the day.
