Maybe a solution would be a mass debt write off, worldwide. Countries, business and domestic (household). It has been talked about it before. Now might be the time

With that approach the only people in the future who would get a loan would be people who don’t need one. Banks would go bankrupt and depositor “loans” (because that’s what they are) would disappear.

  2. People like Jim Rickards and Peter Schiff are predicting financial meltdowns every month ... and like a stopped clock they will get it right sometimes. I think we’re in for a sharp and deep recession, 16 million additional unemployed in the US in a matter of weeks, many companies not operating, some may never recover. The market has rebounded strongly but companies and governments have yet to provide updates on the economic damage. When they do I’d expect the markets to fall hard. No recovery until 2021 at the earliest.

But are you seriously suggesting that we should be in complete denial of the existence of burglars in the UK just because we are posting on a Thai expat website? Or is this the reason why we should IYHO only be placing the spotlight on burglars in Thailand as part of some Grand Thailand Demonisation Project?

There are no safety nets in Thailand, more people will be impoverished by the actions relating to the virus, and “Rich” foreigners not only stick out like a sore thumb, they also get little protection from Thai police. So if you are a foreigner in Thailand you should be on heightened alert.

  4. I liked Kev, his vlogs were informative and he was a pretty cheerful type. So RIP Kev.

As for his illness, and lack of insurance, I’m not sure that his illness was treatable. I recall at the time of his announcement looking it up and discovering that a person’s life expectancy would be severely shortened. However good your treatment you are living on borrowed time.

But for anyone staying in Thailand long term I think a good insurance package is an absolute necessity.

Admitted to an Intensive Care Unit and being put on a ventilator are two different things. Glad that you have now googled that so you can admit your error.

He's still not on a ventilator.

A medical specialist quoted in the Mirror said it was “highly likely” that he would end up on a ventilator. I’m guessing that those who require oxygen at this stage of the illness swiftly progress to ventilation. I wish him well but I don’t think this looks good.

Indeed the numbers are surprisingly and exceptionally low.  Do we trust Anutin's figures?  He tends to report cases involving dirty farangs.

His numbers are an understatement for sure ... there are far more "dirty farangs" than he imagines, quite a few in Pattaya.

  7. I'm impressed by how serious some countries are taking this, and pleasantly surprised by the actions taken in Pattaya. The US is a disappointment. I thought that they would handle it very professionally. I read that a pandemic team were fired by the Trump Administration ... I wonder if the US would have been ahead of the curve if that had not happened?
