Chicago looks like it's kicking off pretty hard now as well.
I wish they'd leave the mom and pop eateries and bodegas alone and focus on banks and insurance companies.

Watching the news now in LA they are trying to overwhelm some place called The Grove. This should become interesting as this is a target of economic value. Thus far they have been burning down the pawn shops, auto parts stores and liquor shops in their own areas.
I can't believe the extent of what happened in Minneapolis. This is going to set that city back a long time trying to come back from the virus.
It seems there are cars on the street that were unaware of what is happening that were looking to shop at The Grove.
That's right around the block from the LA Holocaust Musem. Hopefully the rioting is limited to retail shops so we don't get overlapping narratives.

I'd like to share your fatalistic attitude but I won't. Things will never change if people don't believe they can. Yours seems to be a world without hope for improvement. Not my belief nor my style.
Oh, I think things will get better, but more selfish old people will need to die first IMO.

What I read is that a propritor of a convenience store called the cops because they suspected he was passing a counterfeit $20 bill. How would he know? I might have one in my wallet right now.

Trump's claims about election fraud due to mail-in-ballots is not in the least unsubstantiated. Here's your own Jerry Nadler from 2004. Again, you have to have your head in the sand to ignore the existing fraud and deny the potential for fraud.
What set Trump off was the same as what should have set any reasonable person off . . . having biased fact checkers (CNN & NBC, both of whom have been caught peddling false information many times) claim your statements are false when they're not. Who is Yoel Roth and what is his background?
Roth has previously referred to Trump and his team as "ACTUAL NAZIS," mocked Trump supporters by saying that "we fly over those states that voted for a racist tangerine for a reason," and called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., a "personality-free bag of farts." Last August, Twitter suspended McConnell's Twitter account, prompting the GOP to threaten to cut off advertising on the site until Twitter relented.
Informing the public? LOL Brainwashing the dolts is more like it.
In the state I live in we've been voting by mail exclusively for over 20 years. Everybody loves it and there is almost zero evidence of electoral fraud. I think what you really hate is that other states may be like ours where at least 20% more voters cast ballots than is the national average.

The evidence is Trump cares very much about his lies being challenged.
His fragility on the matter has been demonstrated on a number of occasions.
He cannot stand being called out and held accountable.
He seems to have you right where he wants you. The only time I've ever seen him genuinely angry is when his own toadies fail to back his move. And, hey, it's an election year and that's to be expected.

It seems to have evaded you, this is a discussion forum.
That's what Shakespeare said: "This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honour, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Or sumthin' like that.

That's a fatalistic attitude. I choose idealism and to work towards that idealism.
If that were the case you'd be agreeing with him. The Democrats and Republicans only pass laws that Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of and fail to pass the laws that they overwhelmingly desire to be passed. You'd think they were serving a different master than the electorate. And if you did think that way, you'd be right.

The point at issue is not what the current legislation says, it’s Trump’s psychotic response to having his lies challenged.
And your reaction to his reaction and my reaction to your reaction to his reaction? Yeah, that's gonna move the needle.

It's like they don't know that the Democrat led House has signed off on everything he has signed into law. Take a look at the jump in military spending the Democrats backed Trump on.

You seemed to be alluding to the WHO in your example of defunding an agency whose responsibility is to avert world destruction from asteroids. Trump defunded no such organization but he did defund the WHO. I think my assumption as to your allusion is spot on. FYI, I don't imbibe at all and I'm located in Thailand.
I did not say he defunded it. I said I don't care who wins so long as they don't defund it. For your edification, the agency charged with that is The Center For Near Earth Object Studies, a collaboration between NASA and the JPL.

2 minutes ago, Tippaporn said:Can you understand what you read? "Your belief that Trump is the cause of and responsible for Wuhan virus deaths in America . . ." Where am I asserting that you believe Trump was the cause of the Chinese Wuhan virus?
I think you give too much credit for any demise in any country to the "leaders." It's the people who elect their leaders (except in dictatorships, of course). If any given peoples' leaders are stupid and incompetent it is only because the people themselves, as a whole, are stupid and incompetent.
As to alluding to the WHO, if they are a corrupt organization then why on earth would you protest their defunding? Reread my last paragraph above for an explanation.
Where did I mention the WHO? Wherever you are on Earth it is too early in the day to start drinking.

Your belief that Trump is the cause of and responsible for Wuhan virus deaths in America is about as biased and untruthful an opinion one as one could have. Laughable . . . and sad to see people so easily duped by their own beliefs.
If you can point to one post of mine that suggests that Trump is the cause of SARS C0V-2 I will surrender my membership to this platform. That his actions have contributed to a marginally higher death toll is not quantifiable but he does feed those ignorants that are not taking responsibility for themselves or others and that is unforgivable IMO.
My own belief is that Americans have elected for the past 3 or more decades, leaders that have made the country a laggard in all things for the benefit of a very few. Medicine, education, governance, critical thinking, all in decline in America. My own opinion is that Trump is not better or worse than Biden who would also lead America on that steady downslope. Trump at least is useful in making a change, as long as he doesn't defund whichever agency is charged with protecting us from near Earth astroids, at which point the issue will become moot.

One week too many, next week too few, next week too many again. Can these people 'organise' anything at all properly ?
One can only surmise there is a "middle man" orchestrating all this confusion and not only will they be profiteering from it but they'll probably receive a government subsidy to do so. My first guess would be CP.

Matter of opinion, personally I see his latest move adding to trump's politics of division which are harmful to the nation - i wouldn't name that as good political instincts.
It's only harmful if one has a polarized point of view. If your objective is to heal the nation over holding your polarized point of view, then it's all useful. Bear in mind it took us decades to get here and it's going to take almost as long to claw our way back.

One can say another attempted step towards authoritarianism by trump - trump is unfit to represent the Office of the President of the USA.
Trump doesn't care one way or the other about it. He only cares that you're talking about it. For all his faults, which are legion, his political instincts are really very good.

Are you saying that it is a coincidence that after they fact check his twits he suddenly becomes interested in removing legislation that protects the company he is upset with, even though he showed no such interest for his whole term ?
My personal opinion is that he is trying to get people talking about this non subject than the fact that 101,000 Americans have just recently died. Some of them from both his actions and inactions. Looks like mission accompished.

What does that have to do with law that protects social media companies?
why was such legislation good good all this time that he occupied the white house but it is not now?
How does fact checking violates 47 U.S. Code § 230
Is it possible that your reply is a Pavlovian response?
It's possible but unlikely. So, are you saying that every law that is on the books that came into being before Trump became president is a good law?

My own comment may well be showing a personal bias, but it is a response to what I see as being a knee jerk reaction from trump to being fact checked by Twitter. Having said that, thanks- I did read it, and to be honest I'm not sure what he is hoping to achieve at all.
Now you know what the topic is really about.

Almost every post one reads in this forum is based on little knowledge and is a pavlovian response colored by personal biases. I encourage everyone to actually read Section 230 before commenting.
