    My Wife’s Gym is closed.

Our football field (astroturf) has been closed (until 31 March at the moment).

So yes, it seem many areas where people ‘may’ congregate or come into contact with others are being closed under advice of local police forces and government.

Yet, every restaurant in Pattaya is open and full of people.  The malls are open with people.  Everyone going shopping.

    Same same as normal ????

There is no general mechanism to medically clear people before they board a plane. A state of emergency in Thailand or China would first need to be declared. If you're wondering, I am a licensed U.S. Paramedic with a B.S. degree in Emergency Medical Services Management.

Also, due to incubation period, may not be detectable at the of departure or arrival.  Would require about 1 week in quarantine.

  3. Mask will not be enough.  You will also need an air purifier in the room.  The pollution is very bad indoors, not just outdoors.

Depending how big your place is you may need multiple.

All the more so if anyone in the family is allergic, asthmatic, had any breathing problems, is young or old.

For what it's worth, I'm living here, hugging my air purifier, watching my gf take a tonne of meds and shower because she went outside fur an hour.

  4. I agree.  My concern is that 'Transferwise' and other such institutions are so 'new' that the law may not have caught up in time to decide whether or not that that is a valid institution to hold the funds (and whether or not a statement from them is sufficient).

I'm concerned that the Embassy / Visa Processing Center, may simply deny it because they are unfamiliar with that as a valid source.  Am curious if there has been any reports one way or another.

    Thank you.

  5. Yes it can get bad in Pattaya.
    I have a monitor.
Over 50 lately, sometimes in the 80s.

And burning season hasn't even gotten into its full stride. Expect to see over 100 like last year.

WHO says over 10 is not good.

  6. Not tried this, but:

    1) All facilities are key card locked, so access can be denied

    2) Large concrete block in front of driveway.

    3) Lock main gate so it can only be opened with key in office, so owner has to wait 30 minutes to bring the key over.

    4) Charge 500thb each time the gate has to be manually opened. Double if they do not pay immediately.

    5) Send Bill collector to house three times a day (5am, 7pm, 12am).

  7. I'm guessing, but thinking they are referring more to serious mental illness where the individual is unable to function or is a danger to others.

If you don't arrive in urine soaked trousers waving a spatula demanding that dragons are coming, you'll be ok.

I'm unsure what the level of care in Thailand is. I suspect it is so doctor specific that any county would be a challenge to find an insightful, caring doctor who does not have a one year waiting list.

  8. Pattaya isn't going to move anywhere.  Pattaya will always be here, but it will change, has changed, and will continue to change.

Eventually, Pattaya will not be the Pattaya that we knew in the past, and the Pattaya that we know today.

As I have said before, check out the Cambodia Forum and see how the Chinese changed Sihanoukville.  Granted, it's an extreme example, and whilst there will not be casinos here anytime soon, Pattaya will change to cater for the new demographic of tourists.
    More Indian restaurants?

  9. i live on 40-45,000/month for TWO of us here in Phuket;

rent 10,500  two bedroom house with air con ( which we seldom use) 1.2km from beach in Kamala
    shopping/food extras in supermarkets/markets 8,500
    dining out 5,000
    electric 800
    internet 700
    phones 350
    gas for car/motorcycle 1,500
    misc....
as long as you not out drinking/whoring
it should be fine ( as long as you have back up $$ in bank ), BUT u need the 800,000 in the bank for 5 months or show 65,000/month income which according to you , you dont  have.

I'm not sure if I'd starve or die from no air con on that budget.

    Good on you mate.
  10. I have an Elite card.

Did you know the 'Elite Visa' is nothing of the kind. Your Visa is simply a normal TOURIST Visa that allows a 90 day entry only, with the bonus of being able to send Elite staff to go and do your 90 day report. You can confirm this at the Elite office.

So effectively once you leave Thailand and your Elite card has almost expired, you would only be able to get at least one more 90 day entry, not 1 year. I know this because I asked at the head office.

I'm afraid this is not accurate.

The elite visa grants you a one year visa stamp upon arrival.

You can stay within the kingdom fur the entire validity of your visa without leaving once.

90 day reports are independent of the visa.
