What makes you think that anything is going to get done?

I've been riding the roads of Thailand for over 20 years, it's always been the same, there's going to be the occasional dangerous challenge.

If you're going to ride a motorbike in Thailand you must be more vigilant, aware of the many obstacles that are thrown at you from time to time.

If I was this American rider, I'd be very embarrassed, I would have kept my mouth shut and hopped back on the bike when recovered, and be more bloody careful next time.

Geeze, it amuses me, foreigners coming to Thailand complaining about road conditions (let the Thais sought out the problems and do the complaining), if you're a foreigner, enjoy the beauty that Thailand has to offer.

It doesn't matter what your age is, if you're Incompetent you're going to have an accident, MANAGE yourself people, stop blaming others, be Accountable.

Next time, take the car or use Bolt.

Yes, I'm expecting the Sad and Confused reactions from those of you that are Not Accountable or Incompetent.

Your post suggests that the government should not have accountability.  That the people who installed the poles and cables are not the ones who are incompetent.

I do not think that we should take it as granted that the fault will always be that of the people or the victims.  We should always strive to improve the government and continue to hold them, as well as the people, accountable.

You can only bring in 1 litre of alcohol, there is no paying extra duty on excess alcohol, go through red channel and drop off you excess bottles, no come back, go through green channel and get caught confiscated and fines

If you wish to go through the green channel, you are limited to 1 liter.  That is correct.

    But further down it states:

    • Case 1 Passengers' accompanying belongings which are not for commercial purpose and do not exceed 200,000 baht in value
      Procedure
        1. Customs officers at the "Goods to Declare" channel assess flat rate duty and taxes
        2. Passengers make payment of duty and taxes by cash or debit/credit card
        3. Passengers are provided with payment receipts and retrieve their belongings

I've also been informed by others that import/export things that it can be brought in, but a high tax is to paid on it.  But they did not mention what %.

  3. I believe I can bring 1 liter of alcohol with me without any problems.

I wish to bring about 2-3 Liters of alcohol with me.  I would like to know if this is permitted, and what the tax would be (and how it would be calculated).

Also, would it differ if I carried it with me, or had it shipped separately with other personal belongings that are coming?

    Note:
These extra bottles I want for sentimental reasons (they were gifts from colleagues and one was even a special batch of wine made specifically for our team).  I have no plans to drink them, just to keep them on my shelf like a trophy/plaque.

    Thank you.

  4. I don't know about bubble or not.  But land prices, specifically red garuda deeds, are very expensive when you compare to rural 1st world nations.

I've even done comparisons to Panama, Nicaragua, etc.  And prices there are cheaper, and you get better views.

Go to rural Scandinavia, Canada, or 50km from town USA, and prices there are extremely cheaper.

I feel it should be the other way around, as Thailand is a military lead 3rd world country with high pollution.

That being said, scarcity and limited options for Thai people drive up prices that help explain the prices versus global market rates.  As that is often not a choice for Thai people, only foreigners.

tl;dr:  If you only care about land at a good price, anywhere in the world, don't look here.

  5. The main reason for wanting to camp is to be able to pick isolated and scenic spots to stay overnight.  Like... camping camping ????  Staying in a hotel diminishes this as you see the hotel, rather than just raw nature.

I would be looking at doing a Campervan build that did support it's own toilet/shower/AC/etc.  It would be fun.

Also I would try to use it in other countries if that were possible.

  6. Let's say you have a small Campervan (Ford Transit size, or Land Rover size).  And let's say it's self contained (does not require hookups when parking, has it's own waste disposal system).

What are the rules regarding parking in scenic spots for a few a days at a time?  Is there a club for this, or a good guide to scenic spots that are worth traveling to and overnight parking?

    Thank you.
