  1. He makes a very good point that many Thais complain about the government but then screech when it tries to take a tiny step into the 21st century.
  2. A monopoly. Just like the banks, the airlines, the taxis and every other major industry in the country. Big corporations and the government are connected and they’ll do everything they can to maintain the cartel.
  3. The corrupt thugs that run the Win motorcycle taxi mafia are to blame. They will stop at nothing to stifle innovation and lower prices for consumers. Stop using the orange jackets or the street taxis.
  4. I don't see the relevance of them being a ladyboy. A person was killed because of someone else's incompetence, greed and disregard for safety.
  5. This is a great idea. Any Thais that buy property abroad must renounce their Thai citizenship. They obviously are not true Thais if they're living abroad and putting their money into another country instead of into the 'Kingdom'.
  6. Then they will say, let the wife and children buy it, because they are Thai. And if you're 'established' in the 'Kingdom', then just let the wife or kids buy.
  7. Is there a website that shows planning permission applications and approvals for land and developments? I'm looking at a condo to buy and want to check if there are any approved developments on nearby land and buildings.
  8. The family should take some responsibility for not keeping a closer watch on the girl.
  9. What are the rules surrounding bringing Thai antiques into Thailand. For example, these are antiques, mostly 19th century, that originate from Thailand but have been bought in the UK. They aren't for resale, just small items to furnish a room.
  10. Throwback to the time a few years ago when officials sprayed water in the air because they throughly it would help. Not forgetting the giant extractor fans that put at a few places. Unfortunately Bangkok is too far gone thanks to cheap car loans introduced in the Taksin era and successive years of banks pushing high borrowing to Thais desperate to keep face show off material possessions. Now everyone has a car in a city that doesn’t have the planning or management to cope.
  11. Does anybody know what these white boxes are on the concrete post? There are lots of black communications cables but I'm not sure what the white things are. It's on Sukhumvit 15 in Bangkok.
  12. Seems like there's more to this story. Three years seems a long time to keep five people inside a condo while torturing them. Let's hope these men are brought to justice.
  13. The funds that were supposed to be used to fix it somehow, by mistake, were sent to a local official's grandmother's bank account, and somehow, by mistake, they bought three rai of land, a new house and a new pickup truck. Then another mistake happened and the money was accidentally used to order three gold chains.
  14. Has anyone been bought to justice for this fire yet? The owners, managers? The local police, the local officials that received payments to turn a blind eye so it could operate illegally?
  15. I use Wise to transfer in, Dee Money to transfer out. It's pretty easy, all done by app and not strict. Though you will lose a lot on fees and exchange rates transferring back and forth.
  16. Civic pride. Responsibility for your community. It’s not a thing in Thailand.
