  1. A Prime Minister sponsored by Sansiri. Wonder how much they paid to get their man in the hot seat.
  2. There are some well-known Western / European bar owners in Pattaya and Bangkok who need investigating. Far worse are the Thais and Japanese, though.
  3. In previous years I've always obtained a multiple re-entry permit at Chaeng Wattana. This year I'm going to try at DMK airport as it says on the immigration website they can be 'filed at Passport Control (International Departures) in the Airport on the date of departure from the Kingdom.' (https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/re-entry-permit/) Is the one-year multiple re-entry definitely possible to get from DMK? I've done single re-entry permits before at the airports and they take 20 or 30 minutes. Any experience of the process at the airports?
  4. The CCTV shows the man holding her by the legs while she dangles from the window. He could have been doing it to scare her then dropped her accidentally, or he might have been trying to save her and lost his grip. One thing's for sure, we can have faith in the Thai police to honor the dead woman's life by investigating the case thoroughly and definitely not being 'persuaded' to forget about it and move onto the next one. 5. As many people have said, that’s a python not a king cobra.
  6. Isn't it odd that 'The Pattaya News' didn't report on this incident.
  7. I'm not surprised. Most Thais are lazy, apathetic, selfish, cowardly and thick. They're too afraid to remove their masks let alone start a protest of any significance. Which is why the army, ruling family and big business leaders, know they can get away with anything.
  8. 'This article was brought to you by Thailand Elite'
  9. Surely not! Thais are well known for their honesty, civic pride and law-abiding character.
  10. If your husband wants you to pay them, probably a good idea to pay something as a goodwill gesture. If he doesn't, don't pay them.
  11. Makes a change from flying to see his mistresses.
  12. I might 'adjust' the amount of tax I pay to these benighted simians.
  13. Do you support (pay) your wife? The family is just an extension of them, so you'll have to help to take care of her parents, too. Either accept that its part of the Thai culture, however crass it may be, and pay up... or change your partner.
  14. The company handles all the visa and work permits of their staff.
  15. Because if they were asked, there would be answers to the questions. All you're doing is showing how inexperienced you are.
  16. No, you missed the point, they weren't asked.
  17. Asking for a friend here in Thailand, who's foreign not Thai, and in their early 60s They are have been unable to work for 4+ months due to a sudden and chronic illness with slim to none chance of returning to the office of state-owned company in Thailand where they have worked for the last 10 years at in Bangkok. The company has been paying them sick pay every month (more than the 30 days they are legally required to do under Thai labour law). They haven't terminated the employment and the sick employee has not resigned. The visa expired a couple of months ago and the Immigration have provided x2 60 day extensions on medical grounds - a situation that can't continue for long due to the sheer amount of paperwork involved each time from the company, hospital, and standard difficulties with immigration officers. The company have said they will not renew the work permit, which is due in a few weeks, unless the employee can return to work (they can't). So will this nullify the employment contract without the employer actually terminating it, and having to pay any severance pay which might be included in the contract. Presumably no work permit / employment contract, would also nullify the chances of any 60 day medical visa extensions. Any advice would be appreciated!
  18. So when the Immigration Officer 'told' them, they didn't think to ask the suspect's name, age or how long he had overstayed for. Stick to running bars in Sin City.
  19. Well done, Sherlock. It's been this way in Thailand for more than half a century. Nothing is changing anytime soon.
  20. There are concrete buildings instead of wooden, too.
  21. Exhibit A. Why any kind of progress in Siam will be a long time coming.
  22. The trusty mental health card. The rehab / sex addiction card will come next.
  23. Funniest thing I've heard all day.
  24. He's one of the few leaders who has been able to hold the country together and stay in power for any extended period of time. A nation of lazy simpletons like Thailand actually needs a strong dictator to keep them in order.
  25. It's a shame the punishment wasn't more severe.
