  1. You asked why, all I did was list some reasons I have been told by people that got them. If you have an issue with them perhaps take it up with, you know, the people that make the rules ... the Government.
  2. A lot of people used to get one to get Thai prices at parks etc. before that option vanished, a lot of people spend longer than 90 days and there's the ongoing debate re how long can you drive on a home licence, some people got one just because they could and thought it was "cool", some people used it for ID rather than their passport.
  3. 555 don't flatter yourself. Given I don't see who posts the vast majority of the time, I don't think so, I just react to posts as I read a thread. If it's all the same, either you post a lot of funny stuff or a lot of <deleted>. That said, there are a few posters that are pretty easy to recognise just from the tone of their posts.
  4. Because dummy spits are often amusing, especially when it's a reply to a quote that starts with "The Chinese and Indians clearly won." Having lived in LOS for many years I would have thought you'd be used to the <deleted> that goes on but from the rest of your post it appears to have ground you down rather than you learning to roll with it, sorry to hear that. I hope you settle back into life in Oz.
  5. Yeah, insurance required from Oz. Just think, if the rules where the same world-wide and embassy websites where actually up-to-date and accurate ... where would the fun in that be 555
  6. Maybe not, but there's 27 pages worth on the results of a quick search (and we know how reliable the search on here is! - not an Asean Now issue per se, it's the software used) in 6 threads and that was only when it was a proposal. https://aseannow.com/search/?q="300 baht"&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=18&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=or&search_in=titles Could be worse, could be about another 10 Bht raise for taxis at Swampy 555
  7. So how does that work? Buy insurance for $65 on CC > Accident, $100,000 bill > insurance wriggles out of paying > do a charge back and get $65 back (highly unlikely!) > breath a sigh of relief > get tap on shoulder, turn to hear "About that $100,000 you owe us?
  8. Interesting service but, IMO, not a realistic option for the issue at hand. Why would he want to spend $8-12 per month when he has a perfectly good Thai number already? treetop has already given him the answer.
  9. You're looking at around 16 months later as I understand it (initial 30 days, then 90 days for Non-O, then your 12 month extension) so around September for renewals.
  10. To minimise bouts of being annoyed, perhaps be more diligent while shopping/shop where they are available, for example https://www.bigc.co.th/product/bql-seedless-watermelon-per-kg.65164 https://www.lotuss.com/en/product/52180985
  11. What do you think, topic good for at least 20 pages of regurgitating the same old whinging and misinformation/misunderstanding that where aired initially? Where does Thailand fit in amongst this lot: https://www.valuepenguin.com/taxes-raise-international-airfare
  12. https://asia.nikkei.com/Economy/Thai-resort-welcomes-1st-quarantine-free-tourists-in-over-a-year https://thepattayanews.com/2022/12/29/400-russian-tourists-arrive-in-rayong-welcomed-with-water-cannon-salute/
  13. Plenty of people have obtained a licence on visa exempt. Bit of a waste of money IMO, but if you just want the no hassle hand holding option (including transport to and from DLT) you're looking at 3500 Bht via an agency such as https://www.mots-services.com/mots-services1.
  14. Sorry, can't help (other than point you to the standard docs linked here: https://aseannow.com/topic/631223-immigration-templates/). Stating which IO you will be using may unearth any "local quirks" that may trip you up.
