Maybe I am missing something but that makes no sense, you dont get the virus through your skin, you touch a surface with a bare hand or with a glove, and then maybe touch face its the same, glove or no glove. What difference does wearing a glove make, the virus is either on a bare hand or on a glove covering the hand. If you are removing the gloves then sanitising your hand, what was the point of wearing gloves in the first place.

...the virus is alive on many different surfaces for varying times..this is how it is transferred to the eyes, mouth, nose by people mainly in an involuntary action. The wearing of gloves would make an additional barrier..as doctors/surgeons/nursing staff do. It does make perfect sense.

Hasn't been mentioned by WHO, CDC or anybody as totally unnecessary. The virus cannot penetrate your skin so if you wash hands often no need to be putting on and taking off gloves. Can't touch face or eyes if wearing mask or glasses/goggles.. That's is why WHO and CDC recommend washing  hands often NOT wearing gloves.

...i realise and understand that..Im talking about people who touch surfaces where the virus is then transferring to their eyes/nose/mouth. as few wear goggles etc.

  3. ..Ive not seen it mentioned, ordered, requested anywhere at all...that disposable gloves offer a main barrier...cheap as chips and can avoid all hand to face contact...you go somewhere in your car from your home..you get out the car, put on your gloves..go about your business; return to your car, gloves off and dispose..sanitize your hands; get in your car...well that's what i do, plus on my bike.

I seldom see the need to say bad things about the country that I live in.

However this fiasco at Thai Immigration is appalling to me.

Why can't they just give a blanket automatic extension to tourist visa holders. It would only be 2 months at this point.

Then it could be reviewed to see if further extension is necessary.

Extraordinary times require flexibility to reduce the spread of the disease.

I would be happy to report online every month if required.

What I don't want to do is to expose my family to a potential source of infection. We are all foreigners in my household.

It's bad enough to have to make a quick visit to my local Tesco.

...well said..for eg. at the stroke of a pen they reduced fuel by 20%, created an app overnight to give out a Salary rescue package, all to their own citizens. We foreigners do contribute substantially to their economy whether it be directly or indirectly. Thai Immigration can do what you have suggested and what another member related with Indonesias's response. Thai Immigration have all our details in their data-base and there is definitely no need for any of use to make an appearance. Time to get their act together.

I know that, you know that, we all know that, but they do not. And that is the problem because it is they who make the rules - sometimes several times a week, and all different. Including from office to another, and from one IO to the other. The problem then is the phrase 'at the IO's discretion'. In other words, having all the right documents, photos and declarations might count for absolutely nothing. The uniforms have the power, and some of them use it to make themselves feel good and to compensate for inadequacies in their own life.

..and they laugh about us behind our backs as we leave even more frustrated than when we entered...seen it happen.

Masks aren't about thickness. They're about not letting through fine particles of dust and yes.. viruses. Any manufacturer of face masks that tries to promote their brand as if they're trying to sell ass wipes I'll happily let pass.

Europe already discarded millions of Chinese face masks because they weren't any good. That and the false sense of safety that any mask provides and possibly even higher risks of contracting this virus because of all the fiddling and face touching keep me from using them. I had to make an exception when entering the local immigration building. Unfortunately I didn't have a choice. Today local Tesco Lotus Express markets started imposing the use of face masks on customers. I now go straight to 7-eleven right across the street.

Why Asia doesn't follow WHO guidelines for face masks is beyond me. I've come to accept all the peculiarities of Asia but this mask obsession still gets me..

..most are just hiding behind their personal firewall, and just dont understand microbiology.

A big thanks to China, for unleashing this pandemic on the world.  And special mention to the WHO for dutifully aiding in the delayed reaction...

...yes Mr. China whom passes himself of as a World Super Power can't even get it right with basic food processing allowing this virus to grow, then study it, then find it has got out of control...whom holds them responsible..it would make an interesting class action for compensation...RIP all those who have succumbed to this terrible thing which is only in its infancy.

I am not so sure that International law can prohibit a National of any country returning to his home country.

What they do with them once arrived is a different story.

The "fit to fly" letter was a Thai Airlines thing ?

I do not believe all the illegal returnees from S korea had the letter.

I noticed that in KL they had Doctors at both airports checking & issuing the letters.

You cannot get much more up to date than that

    ...all too late..silly ole Thailand.
