and the Palestinians get their independent state. WH NSA Spokesperson John Kirby. "There's not going to be an independent Palestinian state, with Hamas in control of Gaza. Can't happen. If they really cared about the Palestinian people...they'd lay down their arms, they'd step aside and they'd release the hostages." -

Top ministers huddle as Israel expects Hamas to decline latest hostage deal offer As the war cabinet convened on Thursday evening, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel that the assumption among the country’s leadership is that Hamas will officially reject the latest offer for a hostage and truce deal. As Israel awaited a formal reply to what United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called its “extraordinarily generous” hostage-truce offer, Channel 12 news cited unnamed Hamas sources saying that Sinwar has three specific demands that the Egyptian mediators are currently trying to resolve, including with US assistance. https://www.timesofisrael.com/top-ministers-huddle-as-israel-expects-hamas-to-decline-latest-hostage-deal-offer/ -

You're worse than I thought, these kidnapped people are hostages and they are not just Israeli, there are Thai, US, many other nationalities. The deal also would have hundreds of Palestinian prisoners released in exchange for just 30 or so of the most vulnerable hostages as well as a ceasefire, surge in humanitarian aid to Gaza. The terrorists Hamas are holding this up and you are a vile apologist for them. -
Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital

The narrative is spearheaded by some ‘profuse’ American posters (just look at the post count to see who posts almost twice as much as anyone else) Really? I believe you have no clue what nationality most posters here are. That's called projection -

As expected, Hamas does not want this to end. Hamas official expresses opposition to latest hostage deal offer, but terror group says talks continue Osama Hamdan, a Hamas official based in Lebanon, tells the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV, “Our position on the current negotiating paper is negative.” Hamas’s press office subsequently clarifies, “The negative position does not mean negotiations have stopped. There is a back-and-forth issue.” The terror group is reportedly slated to submit an amended response to the latest proposal in the coming hours. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/hamas-official-expresses-opposition-to-latest-hostage-deal-offer-but-terror-group-says-talks-continue/ -
Actually one of the hostages escaped in Gaza for 4 days hiding but the Gazans then returned him to the terrorists! "He managed to escape and to hide out, alone, for four days. He tried to reach the border. In the end, the Gazans caught him and returned him to the terrorists' hands." https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/gaza-hostage-briefly-escaped-captors-after-building-was-bombed-family-says-2023-11-27/ https://archive.ph/D9o2o

So you read read the quote, which is NOT an opinion. The same quote that is here: “We are called a nation of martyrs,” said another top Hamas official, Ghazi Hamad. “And we are proud to sacrifice martyrs.” He promised more attacks: “There will be a second, a third, a fourth.” When asked whether he sought the annihilation of Israel, Hamad matter-of-factly replied, “Yes, of course.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/hamas-official-says-group-aims-to-repeat-oct-7-onslaught-many-times-to-destroy-israel/ You avoided my question, why?

Yes, that's the view from Hamas, the ones who are holding hostages and using the civilians in Gaza as sacrifice in the human shield strategy Hamas considers two million Gazan civilians, including children, as martyrs, whether they want to be or not. https://thehill.com/opinion/international/4295601-human-sacrifice-is-central-to-hamass-strategy/ I am not a military expert so I cannot say what the acceptable figure, can you? I do know there are far too many because of Hamas and that if they released the hostages it would come to a stop today. There is a deal ready for them now. Only Hamas is standing in the way.

Its not about me being correct, its about you making false claims. Here's another article: No military fighting an entrenched enemy in dense urban terrain in an area barely twice the size of Washington D.C. can avoid all civilian casualties. Reports of over 25,000 Palestinians killed, be they civilians or Hamas, have made headlines. But Israel has taken more measures to avoid needless civilian harm than virtually any other nation that's fought an urban war. https://www.newsweek.com/israel-implemented-more-measures-prevent-civilian-casualties-any-other-nation-history-opinion-1865613

Not correct: The process of identifying military targets in the IDF consists of various types of tools and methods, including information management tools, which are used in order to help the intelligence analysts to gather and optimally analyze the intelligence, obtained from a variety of sources. Contrary to claims, the IDF does not use an artificial intelligence system that identifies terrorist operatives or tries to predict whether a person is a terrorist. Information systems are merely tools for analysts in the target identification process. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/03/israel-defence-forces-response-to-claims-about-use-of-lavender-ai-database-in-gaza

Here's one of a few... Israel has not created a gold standard in civilian harm mitigation in war. That implies there is a standard in civilian casualties in war that is acceptable or not acceptable; that zero civilian deaths in war is remotely possible and should be the goal; that there is a set civilian-to-combatant ratio in war no matter the context or tactics of the enemy. But all available evidence shows that Israel has followed the laws of war, legal obligations, best practices in civilian harm mitigation and still found a way to reduce civilian casualties to historically low levels. https://www.newsweek.com/israel-has-created-new-standard-urban-warfare-why-will-no-one-admit-it-opinion-1883286
