  1. Time flies! :o My baby Pug is no longer a baby but a woman and in good health! She has just got over her first cycle, she is around 12 months old now. We don't want her to have any pups and are unsure what is the best option for her. Do pugs put on excess weight if they get spayed? At the moment she is exactly eight kilos and we have maintained her diet so that she does not gain anymore. In your professional opinion what is the best option for Missy? How often do pugs get the cycle and how long should it usually last? This was her first and it lasted about three weeks...spotting here and there, on and off.

We would prefer to have her spayed/neutered but not if it affects her body weight.

    Pls advise!

    Thanks :D

Do it. Neuter her, it shouldn't effect her body, it you pet you should have some control over her diet.

  2. I looked on in bewilderment today at the US Embassy as a grown man in his 60's started to literally cry and sob about not being able to bring his wife to America. At first I couldn't see him because of were I was sitting, close to window C not far from the cashier's window, Then I looked around one of the support pillars to see the couple. It was a older white man in his 60's balding on top with what was left of his grayish brown hair tied back in a pony tail, standing with a upcountry looking woman in what I would guess to be her 30's. He went on about how he served his country for 25 years in the Army, how he never was on welfare, how he never took anything from his govt, and how if he had money he would have been able to take her to America 4 years ago. The guy behind the counter seemed sympathetic but apparently could not help this man as he sobbed and recounted this miserable tail of how he tried so hard for this visa only to be denied.... Sad, they looked appropriate together, they seemed to have that look like they had been together for a long time :o

Damm, is it that F'ed Up??? is this what I have to look forward too when I wanna bring my wife to the States eventually? I mean he was balling louder than I heard a man cry for a very long time.

Got to be much more to this story. Why did you have a chat with him, talking could easy the pain, maybe you could have given him some tips for another go around. Really would like to no the reason for the turn down. :D:D:D

  3. I am a 53 year old female (who can easily pass for 40 thanks to Botox) native speaker of English, taught English as a Second Language (grammar, reading, composition, Business English) for almost 3 years in my first job out of college-30 years ago--unfortunately there are no records available. Everyone I worked with has retired or died-school is of no help. This was at a University ESL program in the US. The majority of the students came from the Middle East and other OPEC nations (Indonesia and Brunei).

Then I got an MBA in Business working in Finance for twenty years and later a California State POST-SECONDARY PROVISIONAL ADULT EDUCATION Teaching Credential qualified for business subjects ( business, economics, accounting) and psychology ( I have BA in Psychology). I taught three years part time (50%) on that credential. It expired IN 1995 after 5 years but is renewable if I take some educational theory classes and so it is currently listed on the CA State teachers website and is verifiable.

I also have a current CA State Secondary SUBSTITUTE Teaching Credential plus over 1 year of substitute experience in grades 6-12 verifiable. I had to get my fingerprints checked by FBI and go through background check to get the Substitute Credential and take CBEST(reading, writing and math test). Presently I am waiting for the results of the CSET Math test (CA subject education test) due next week which if I pass would qualify me to teach Algebra and Geometry math courses in CA high schools on an emergency basis. Except they just instituted budget cutbacks in CA so there are not really any new trainee positions available locally--besides I have been to Thailand and want to teach there....

I am planning on coming back to Chiang Mai in May to go to Chiang Mai University to get a TESOL certificate just for review really (through TEFL international/Chiang Mai University). With my background what kinds of teaching positions are realistic to look for in Bangkok?....I would prefer Chiang Mai but I know they won't pay anywhere near what Bangkok does. I have a friend who worked at Ruamrudee in the early 90's and is willing to write a reference for me. I have also met several Thai people (Doctors and business people) in the US who have offered to help with references-would this be of any help?

  4. Hi,

If you are buying diesel for your vehicle, avoid the Shell station on Huay Kaew Rd (near Kad Suan Kaew). They've just tried to give me the V-power diesel instead of the ordinary diesel for the second time, at over 2 baht per litre more expensive.

  5. Every full English breakfast I order seems to come with runny eggs, which is absolutely disgusting to look at and probably dangerous to eat. Properly cooked fried eggs are all over the place in thai food, so why are they semi-raw in farang food? Is there an easy to use Thai phrase to tell the waiting staff that I'd like an egg that has a solid white and a runny yolk? It's ot a big deal, obviously, but drives me nuts and ruins the meal for me.

    Proach for me.

    ASIAN FESTIVAL

    Songkran Celebration

    Introduction by Narisa Chakrabhongse

    Thursday 10 Apr, 2008 6:45 PM - 8:30 PM

    Location: Asia House

    Doors 6.30pm

Asia House and the Anglo-Thai Society present an evening of talks, performance and authentic Thai food in celebration of the Songkran Festival.

13th April marks the Thai New Year and the celebration of Songkran festivities. While many people associate Songkran with the activity of people splashing and throwing water at each other, few know the true meaning of this celebration. Narisa Chakrabhongse, former Vice-Chair of the Anglo-Thai Society, Editor of River Books, and a regular speaker at Asia House, will give an informal talk and brief introduction to the history of the Songkran Festival and its influence on Thai culture and way of life.

Members and friends are invited to join us in celebration of this year’s Songkran festivities with this talk followed by a short demonstration of Thai musical instruments and performances of Thai classical dance, by The Thai Dance Academy. The evening will close with the traditional ceremony of “Song Nam Pra.” Ticket price includes refreshments and authentic Thai food.

    ASIA HOUSE: The venue

‘The building’s interior is Adamesque, with filigree plasterwork, classical paintings and elaborate marble chimneypieces’

Our headquarters at 63 New Cavendish Street is a splendid Grade II* listed building, originally planned by Robert and James Adam on the Duke of Portland’s Marylebone Estate in the 1770s.

By 1775, however, the Adams’ attention had turned to the creation of Portland Place, and neo-classical architect John Johnson took over the site, erecting the magnificent townhouse that has now been redeveloped as Asia House

Organisations that have used Asia House as a venue for their events include BP, Benoy, Boston Consulting Group, British Council, BSI, Macmillan Publishing and Shangri La Hotels. ...and much more....

Sound likes a good ceremony/program. Could be very enjoyable. However I would advise not to play any water tossing, it might be dangerous to your Health. enough said. :o:D

Educate your self and your family about the use and selling of drugs. Other than that who know(??) On local News last night a father broke down and cried when police came to his home and arrested his 18 or 19 year old son. :D:o:D
