I have a retirement visa based on showing 800,000 in the bank. i have since got married and have been told i only need to show 400,000 is this correct. if so would i have to leave the country every 3 months with a marrige visa. presently i just report to Samui immigration every 3 months.

basically i just want a visa that means i do not have to leave the country every 3 months, but i find keeping 800,000 in Thai account difficult.

Yes this is indeed correct, how you will need show proof of marriage, and that the Bt400,000 is from an out of country source, same as before with the retirement visa .

Hey, my friend first thing you need to is CHILL OUT man. Next make bloody darn sure you are the father, a simple blood/DNA test at most major hospital in the area will do this; and it is not that expensive. If you are the father than by all mean take care of the child. We are talking food, shelters, Custody if need be, for this you maybe want to seek legal advice; not to worry there are plenty of legal expert in your area I am sure. Best of Luck.

I for one think there are many visitors here for site-seeing of this beautiful Country and to enjoy the nature friendly people of Thailand, however there will alway be the Nearsayers, oh well so be it.

There were Restrictions on Thai women married to Foreigners; however as I recall this all change about ten or so years ago. Now the Thai lady married to a foreigners can buy pretty much what she can afford. CHEER!!

If I may weigh in with my Two cents worth, as I said before I truly believe cool head will prevail and all will end well. Over the weekend, so far so good. One have to give credit to Khun Chamlong Srimunang and the rest of the PAD leadership for keep the crowd under control. Love or hate the PAD, they have been peaceful thus far.

No, you do not get a Thai Citizenship. To get a Thai citizenship is a long and hard process and I much add a bit on the expensive side. No sure, however as I recall there is a Bt9500(???) application fee for starter, which is not refundable if you do not get a citizenship. Good luck, check it out, worthy of a try.
