I find it hard to believe that many men still consider their best options for meeting Thai ladies are in bars where one pays for their services. I remember reading on a thread here a while back that with Thai ladies its a matter of knowing which buttons to press.

May I also suggest it's more a matter of choosing the best ladies to meet? If you're aiming to date some pretty dolly bird that spends all day looking at herself in the mirror, then I think you have your work cut out. However there are many nice ladies out there in the 40 plus age range, divorced with perhaps 1 or 2 grown up children and in some poorly paid, dead end job.

A lot of these ladies would enjoy nothing more to alleviate the monotony of their lives than to be treated to dinner at a nice restaurant and some good sex afterwards. I have met several Thai ladies this way and it sure beats bar girls. And not just Thai ladies, I have had similar experiences with ladies in Vietnam, Bali and Malaysia. I think we all have the same needs deep down, all it takes is a little respect, charm and good manners.

The trick is, how to keep it casual (if that's what you want), rather than a full blown relationship.

Let's be real here friend the only Thai LADIES that wants anything(been seen) to do with a Farang are those that work in the bars. I've been sort of shopping on the 'net on various Thai and English sites, looking for a 2nd hand scoot (Fat Boy, Road King, Heritage Softail, etc). Most of those priced under 700,000 baht seem to get sold PDQ. What I've been offered (i.e. a 2004 Road King with green book for 880,000 baht) seems rather expensive (almost $28,000 US).

Seems pretty high to me for a 4 year old, stock bike (i.e. no extensive mods or accessories).

Is it all because of the name, like buying Adidas or Reebok where the high cost is primarily because of the brand name ?

The guys I've been hanging out with, especially my Thai friends, are definitely not hi-so rich folks. I actually find it hard to believe so many of them do own Harleys.

I've been looking at 2nd hand rides, as buying brand new and parking it for 9 months a year doesn't make much sense to me. I did that with my last pick-up in Canada. Bought it new, drove it for a little over a year, and it's been parked in my dad's yard for the last 4 1/2 years now (I just told him to send me the paperwork so I can sing it over to him and he can sell it or what ever).

It's not as much of a concern with an older bike though (and less likely that the g/f will try and ride it when I'm not around !)

Meanwhile, I've got about 8 days to try and find a deal before (or just after) I get back, as a couple days later, a whole mess of us are heading to Phuket for the Phuket Bike Week 2008 (and Songkran) celebrations !

Yasathon is in Isan, Norteast Thailand, great little town, some good little guest houses. If you are driving best just buy a Thailand road map(english) about Bt150 read it and hit the road, if flying you would fly in to Ubon which is about 102km northeast of Yasathon. Hope this helps a little. Hope you have a great time, I know the wife and I did when we visited some of her long lost cousins near Yasathon, I felt right at home the place had a 7/11, YEAH.

Guys, you know what im talking about:

Guy meets girl. She "love him" and he loves her. They move in together and it turns out her parents dont work and dont have money. So, western as he is he thinks "lets open a buisness that they run and make their own money". Guy opens a western buisness and "mom and dad" dont give it the least bit try to make it happen. Buisness close. So, now guy pay mom and dad 5000/month for maintaining a life. Then guy makes more money and in order to be able to brag about it to girl he also needs to start paying 6000/month. Otherwise he turns out the asshol_e. In other words guy put himself in a possition where if he ever gets a raise its about "shut up or pay the raise to mom and dad". Stop pay and girl is out. Quick.

Now, guys, i need advise. What do i do. Seen this story one time to many and now a friend of mine is in the beginning of it. The "grandma in hospital", "cow is sick", "cat is pregnant" is coming on him and he just do have any clue because he is just flatered this lovely girl "loves" him as he also is deeply in love with her.

How do i do? Telling him i seen it before will probably ruin our friendship, saying nothing will also ruin our friendship in the long run because when he finds out i knew and did not say anything, i will be the asshol_e.

Didn't see anything in your comments about marriage or kids so what is bounding you to this girlfriend(good looks) don't kid yourself, walk away, 100 percent there a 10 or more just waiting for a change to make you for get all about this GF. In other words get over her, not worthy of your time and efforts.

I for one see many many MOM and POP loadup shopping carts at these big retailers. o
