From what I understood, the delivery is to AstraZeneca *not* the Thai govt. It is AZ who allocate the production

Actually that is incorrect. The definition of a batch is thus:-
noun-
a quantity or consignment of goods produced at one time."a batch of cookies"
at one time == completely independent
so both are correct

OK, so is "batch" a scientific term? Unit of measurement?
How many vials (5 ml, 10 doses) in a batch?
I searched a bit but it seems like most reports in the press use batch to denote a specific delivery amount.
Just once I'd like to see someone offer precise and transparent information.
Batch is a term to denote that its production is completely independent and verifiable. That's all really

Most Thais will believe that as they walk out of the door of the vaccination center, they are now protected and can go back to doing whatever they want. I hope the medical staff try to get across it takes at least 3 weeks for any immunity to take effect

Thailand should take note of what is happening in Malaysia and act accordingly. Malaysia is just a few weeks ahead on the curve

Hope govt propose they shut up, and thank their stars they're not locked down totally

Looks like it's still only just getting started, in the 'foothold' / 'ramp up' stage as far as I'm concerned.
Absolutely spot on! Said as much after the experts called the last peak at beginning of May. Thailands experts had no idea where they were on the infection curve

If this means they have all just had 1st dose of sinovac, they will need to keep going until 70% have had 2nd dose. Sinovac not that great until 2nd dose

Great news. Only the filling, labelling, shipping, storing and administration to go

So now there are three variants all going under the radar, all of which are very infectious. Not looking good for those in charge

Property developers will only care when the buildings are not finished and the banks come looking for their money. Then they will care about conditions in Labour camps and the health of their workers, when it hits them in their wallets

Even though the total number of new COVID cases reported Monday declined from the prior day, Ministry of Public Health officials said Thailand's COVID outbreak is continuing to grow and spread with increasing numbers of cluster outbreaks around the country.
The chart below shows the number of active COVID clusters the MoPH has been monitoring around the country during the past 10 days. The brown bars show the number not under control, the green bars show the number considered under control, and the gray bars show the number of areas involved in the clusters.

All very strange, why would a virus in decline keep popping up all over the country like that?

Should be easy enough to make some more “beds” as needed, just ask Makro or Big C for their empty boxes

A month after this wave of COVID officially peaked, the numbers just keep getting bigger and bigger, and clusters are popping up with increased frequency and magnitude.
The virus seems to be doing exactly what some of us thought, spread quietly until numbers surge uniformly across the general population.
This next month is going to be critical, the last month was the quiet before the storm

20 minutes ago, Sheryl said:One should not make the mistake of assuming presence of the Indian variant means the COVID outbreak in the country will resemble that of India.
There are some country-specific factors at play in India: extreme crowding, and a public health system that is dysfunctional at the best of times.
Neither is true of Thailand in general, though there are some vulnerable sub-population to whom it applies (prisoners, migrants etc).
The Indian variant is already in 44 countries and not wrecking the same degree of havoc in most of them that it is in India.
While it is true that the "Indian variant" is more infectious than the original viral strain it is not clear how much more infectious it is (if at all) than the so-called "UK strain" already prevalent here. Also not yet clear if it is any more lethal.
Neither should you make the mistake of assuming it is not going to be like India. Govts must always prepare for the worst

Is anyone really surprised by this news? I suppose Thailand will stumble on with minimal testing to mask the spread of this variant much like it did with the Kent one. I'm guessing the new "magic" acceptable number will be around 3500 per day for a very long time

What an embarrassment. The "big" regional power relying on handouts and charity from their much bigger neighbours.
