Totally agree, but the fact they won't release it, seems a little odd? If she went to the police station, wouldn't there be camera there? Did the cops have body cams, if not why not? In a related article: "CCTV is being analysed from various sources but the Grab car dash cam video from the night in question had already been deleted as it was more than 20 days old." How convenient?

The cops said they have the CCTV, but haven't as yet published it? The cops said she lied about the vaping. The cops said she lied about paying money. The cops said her taxi driver said she was very loud etc Now I don't know what happened, but the cops do not have a very good track record of telling the absolute truth, do they? When the cops eventually publish the unedited CCTV footage we will know?

You are correct, I saw a report that that they tried, it was in the same article that said the RTP had interviewed the taxi driver, also they had seen the CCTV footage. The problem is, its all hearsay? The police are not providing any actual evidence. Surely to put this to bed as it were, they just need to show the CCTV footage and that would be the end of it?

I would agree with your sentiment, but my point is tourists who come to Thailand are not going to be able to speak fluent Thai, some expats maybe? The IO's need to speak with the foreigners, obviously, so it would be in everyone's interest if they could could at least speak the most widely used language? The Aviation industry does it? All international pilots must be able to speak English, so must all Air Traffic Controllers at International Airports?

Now the Police Chief, Pol Gen Damrongsak has got involved, according to the Bangkok Post. He has said if the accused officers are guilty, legal action will be taken against them. The girl in question, has also challenged the police to show the CCTV footage. The story has changed and its difficult to keep up. But now its all very simple isn't it? Show the footage and prove your innocence Mr Policeman?

Correct, you go anywhere in the world virtually and if you can speak English you can usually find someone who can understand you. If you only speak Mandarin and you go anywhere in Africa say, you are stuck?

I would agree that the most common FIRST language is Chinese, followed distantly by Spanish and then, in third, comes English. That is not what I meant however, more people can speak English, maybe as a second language, that Chinese. I should have said, English is the most widely spoken language in the world!
