"It was not immediately clear how the government’s new plan to attract more foreign tourists to Thailand – by raising prices and charging them more than Thais – would impact foreigners living in the kingdom" Well that sentence above says it all! They don't know how raising prices will impact foreigners living in Thailand. They will leave and not come back! Or not go in the first place. -

The problem is the serving staff are probably on minimum wage and want to keep their jobs. So they do not want to upset the boss. They are not well trained, especially in customer service, so they either don't know what to do with a complaint or don't care? -
Correct it is also the most consumed meat in the world!

Most people go to Thailand because its Thailand, meaning they don't want Singapore, where everything works, where the infrastructure is good and taxis don't rip you off. Thailand has its own flavor and many people go for that reason. They know what to expect, usually?

You could try a "Bolt" taxi, probably cheaper than Grab. you would need to download the Bolt app. Probably around 1000Baht. I have used Bolt taxis for around 6 months now, never had a problem.

I don't think there is any argument there are some very rich Indians, as you point out. In any country there are rich and poor people. The question is would Mukesh Ambani and family come to Pattaya for a vacation and go to club in WS?

I do live here, which is why I am posing the question. My point was would a super rich Indian family come to Pattaya, which has a less than salubrious reputation. I think they would prefer Phuket in a high end hotel, beautiful beaches etc, or even Bali. Numerous choices really.
