  1. I am not saying that Thais are not caught and punished, they are every day! What I am suggesting is that the punishment a Thai would get and the punishment a non Thai would get for the exact same offense in general are different. In this case if a Thai was caught killing a few fish, do you think the same news coverage and talk of 5 years imprisonment would occur?
  2. They do make examples sometimes, like the cop who got 25 years for shooting the noodle seller. They are high profile cases. However they are exceptions, in general sadly its as I said before!! How many times have you seen on this forum, lady-boys assaulting and or stealing from tourists and getting a 500 baht fine?
  3. Yes and therein lies the problem? One law for the Thais and seemingly another for everyone else!
  4. Totally agree with your sentiment. The only thing is I don't think he knew he had committed any crime at the time he killed the fish. Putting on social media was stupid, but he is a young guy?
  5. Got to agree with you. What happened to the captain? He is responsible for everything that happens on his boat? The young guy made a mistake, gave himself up and apologized. He killed a few fish and they could give him 5 years? What a complete joke, just shows Thailand for what it is, completely out of touch with reality. Give him a fine and send him home, but no blacklist, that would be fair!
  6. They may not be his worry as he is a dollar multimillionaire, but there are a lot of poor in people in Thailand who are trying to make ends meet! But he doesn't get it, no surprise there!
  7. "The punishment has been decreased to 25 years and four months in prison with a 1,000 baht fine and to pay compensation to the victim of 7,992,500 baht." What is the point of the 1,000 fine?
  8. "ECD seize 3,000 cartons of illegal cigarettes worth 2 million baht in Bangkok" So was that value with or without tax?
  9. Does that go for canned/tinned products also?
  10. 5555 Good One!! ????
  11. I love sarcasm, but the powers at be might take you seriously?????
  12. Quite so, plus foreigners would have difficulty buying a house, well at least the land its on.
  13. Quite so. From the article.....".The department coordinated with Marine and Coastal Resources Office 10 in solving this case with the latter having found out that the fishing boat’s name is “Ewarin ” and the perpetrators are being pursued for legal action." They make it sound like he is major gangster?? He caught some fish? Amazing Thailand?
  14. "According to Rule 1, item 9.2 it is forbidden to keep all kinds of animals, such as those that create a nuisance and frighten people, in the condominium or the condominium area." Why not just state cats or dogs?
  15. I certainly agree the 'system' is not perfect, but its the best we have. You think his guilt "was never in doubt" , I believe his guilt, or innocence is up to a jury to decide, but we are getting way ahead of ourselves.
  16. I do understand the FBI and DOJ will have to tread very carefully, yes!
  17. I totally agree! I didn't say they were?
  18. I am not in a hurry to have Trump charged at all, although I suspect some are? I am in agreement with you that the FBI and DOJ need to tread carefully
  19. What you say is fair enough. If that is in fact what happened? If the evidence is so damming then surely the DOJ can charge him? As yet as far as I know he hasn't been charged with anything.
  20. If the authorities can find enough evidence to charge him with some crime, then the case goes to court, there is a fair trial, the jury decide on guilty or not guilty, then that's all fine. If guilty the Judge decides his fate? However currently we have the MSM, social media, members on this forum etc deciding his guilt before any of the due process has taken place, which to me seems irrational and disturbing. Its not a case of defending Trump, but everyone should be the given the chance to due process.
  21. I see, so like many others on this Forum , you seem to have your mind made up, that he is guilty, of what? So you don't believe in Due Process?
