Cloth face masks not recommended against Omicron
DrPhibes replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There are recommendations now of wearing 3 masks now further restricting breathing. The serious devices that cover your whole head and have breathing valves on them are banned on most flights. -
Brit, 82, arrested in Nong Khai on child sex abuse charges
DrPhibes replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I expect to get a rash of sh-t for what I'm going to say but stay with me please. I do not condone kids being sold into sex. Sex (especially in Thailand) is a very flexible thing. Legal age of consent has fluctuated though out history for different countries but was generally accepted as when the young lady begins having her period in old and, only relatively recently in history, given an age. In the US, in 1800, it was as low as 10yrs old in some states (7 in Delaware). True, times were different as in not living longer than 50 yrs old probably played a part. Even Romeo and Juliette was between a 16yr old boy an a 13yr old girl. I had 3 girlfriends who were VERY together people who were jilling-off at 10 and giving B"J"s at 11/12 in the late 70's in the US (when social moral standards were much more lax despite the law- which was only used as last resort at that time). Nobody forced them, it was just the way their libido developed and it was understood as such, it's not on a calendar everyone. One of them still dances a bachelor party every now and then seeing it as well paying adult sexy fun and expected at such a gathering. She is an aerospace engineer. I have had several underage girls approach me for their first experience when I was younger but had to turn them down despite being a potentially healthy experience for them on their sexual journey to who they are, due the serious ramifications of the law (now even more potentially dangerous decades later, see all the US lawsuits for something that happened 40 years ago). In the 50's and 60's in the US, it was expected that you drove off to "make out hill" with your BF in your middle teens as a girl, where every other teen couple was going to do the same in town. The rule for most parents was, if she gets pregnant, you bought it, and the law would be called in only if you did not do the right thing. Now, for the same behavior and caught, your branded as a sex criminal for the rest of your life (poor kid). I don't write this to condone what this guy has done at all, I find it disgusting. I am just putting out as an observation that the positive human developmental experience is not all about laws. -
Cloth face masks not recommended against Omicron
DrPhibes replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
OK, let's get the science down. Masks are more to keep globs of what you expel in a cough or a sneeze (which contain a large amount of virus if you have it) out of your mouth and into your mask and not sending the aerosol into the general atmosphere. It has little to do on the receiving end if the aerosol expelled (much smaller so less virus) is about the same size as the intake particle size on your mask unless it happens to hit part of the mask incoming. Problem is on a flight, you already have a reduced atmospheric pressure and adding more and more masks just restricts respiration, oxygen in and carbon dioxide out, basically suffocation. Vaccination helps reduce things but with a rapidly mutating virus, who knows? Omicron could be a less symptom mutation that overwhelms Delta and allows us to just have a flu season and a COVID season for shots, or, it can be the mutation that leads to a more deadlier mutation that culls the overpopulation of humans on earth, who knows. To be alive is risking death. -
Width or length? It's not a traffic cone don'tcha know. The old saying "Give her 10 inch, and she'll make ya smile!" comes to mind.

First time marriage extension
DrPhibes replied to deansy1972's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I actually applied 45 days in advance (Chiang Mai) for my second extension based on a non-O marriage visa. They still made me wait a month after the expiration of the 1st extension (when you can touch your money) so my 400,000 has now sat long enough to turn into Kim chi. -
I am assuming showing the Thai Pass was for the C-19 inoculation confimation?

Extension of stay : OA Visa
DrPhibes replied to Mamasun's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Hi Joe, very interesting. About to get my Non-O marriage extension stamp and then leave for the US 2 weeks later for about 4 months with a re-entry permit in my hand. Sounds like I can cancel my C-19 specific insurance while in the US and then start it up again once I get back. Have other expense Ins in the US but they will not give a certificate for amount of coverage (unlimited passed my deductible) and that it specifically covers C-19 (covers everything but experimental treatment) and don't cover overseas unless on deaths door. Sound about right to you? Thanks as always! -
Wife has 1 Moderna shot and needs to get from Chiang Mai to Bangkok on Jan 4th. Can she fly domestic? I just got back from Phuket where Vietjet going there did not really look at my shot book I gave them and Airasia coming back did not even ask to see any shot evidence, just my passport. Thanks in advance!

Did the same thing in Chiang Mai with the Imm office in Oct where they set up a new 90 reporting at Jan 2nd 2022. I am still in my "under consideration" period with the stamp to be done on Dec 28th for extension due to marriage. I just went to use the mobile app to renew my 90 days and get the overstay message so can't progress pass the 1st page. Question is do I actually use the date I last entered Thailand (8/31/20) in the app or the extension date or ? date? Never had a problem reporting with the app before this. Also, does CM immigration want to see a copy of my updated bank book when I go to get the extension stamp? Thanks all!

Marriage Extension Question
DrPhibes replied to 4MyEgo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Do you have to bring anything more than your updated bank book and a copy of it showing a say 500 baht draw the day you go get your extension stamp for Chiang Mai office? The officer never did explain that when the missus and I submitted the paperwork and got our date of Dec 28th to come for the stamp (so much for going away at new years). Thanks in advance. -
Suitcase Wrap Service at Suvanabumi Airport
DrPhibes replied to Steps's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Be careful about transiting as some transit countries are going to cut through it to reinspect depending on destination country. BKK to the PI to US is one example. -

10% increase in international flights from Nov to Dec
DrPhibes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Only head to Phuket at this time of year to go blow bubbles underwater with my teens. No other reason to go unless meeting an old friend (who lost his shirt and almost his life to a stunner on walking street who also tried to kick him down some stairs at her place about a month ago). All fun and games....
