I never enjoyed trips to the family, thankfully not often. I think i must have become invisible when i entered their house or maybe turned into a piece of furniture. Totally ignored. I know language is a problem but hard to believe anyone doesn't know how to say hello and acknowledge your presence. The only compensation was they have many dogs, and i got a great welcome from them.

Very much the same from me. It must be over a year since visiting the wife's family in Tha Wang Pha which is on the road in to Nan. I know she hasn't seen them in a while so a long chat is on the cards.

I am giving a small table with a Chang on it , a plastic chair to sit on then told her sister will make me a curry later. After the curry I sit and wait.  Once , last visit maybe I saw a glow worm across the road and befriended that. After looking at the different paint schemes on the wall I need to get back to the hotel.  I suppose the hot springs next day help , but the evenings , pah !

Sadly the world is not a safe place.

As an individual you need to put in place controls to mitigate the dangers, wherever you are.

    Be accountable for your actions.

People, living their life as a snowflake, blaming others for their misery, childlike behaviors.... I see this too many times these days.

Indded it is not a safe place , never was but I would sooner live quietly up here than in P.

Ok , the Romans decided to get rid of pagan , end of the year , dark going new light coming so despite Jesus being born around August they moved his birthday to December. to eradicate paganism.

Someone may have said that but no time to go through another 4 pages , visitors need refreshment.

Fat chance of that happening. What hope is there when the police who are on duty turn up at our friends houses, in  uniform & driving clearly marked police cars, and consume copious amounts of Sang Som, and when they leave they are well and truly over the limit. Don't anybody try to tell me this doesn't happen, because I witness it on a regular basis, and when I ask them why they drink & drive, let alone while on duty, their answer is simply "I'm the police I can do what I want".

I know just what you are saying. A few years ago right opposite our house lives a policeman. He invited us over for a glass of Jameson's. His brother was there and legless by then , when the brother came to leave , first he hit our garden wall , when he reversed he hit the coppers wall. Oh what fun thought the plod. So if the BiB don't care why should anybody else ?

Definitely a lot of traffic up here in rural Issan.

Lots of motorcycles with broken lights.

Tractors going slow with no lights.

    Its like a video game.

You definitely try to avoid driving at night up here!

Way up here I don't mind driving at night but I never go out on my motorbike at night , not even to the nearest 7/11 the other side of AH2 which is not even 1 k away.

The locals went from buffalo to Wave then to pickup , can be scary out there .

The only one I don't really like is Singha, I drink Archa at home & Leo when I go out, very few places serve Archa.

Funny that , usualy drink Leo8 as has a bit more flavour.  My off licence ran out of it a couple of weeks ago so I bought Singha.  No taste at all , yesterday at Makro I found a litre tin of Kaiserdom Dark , looking forward to that in a couple of days time. 195 B but why drink lager at half that price if awfull ?

I did use to help people I didn't know, but get exploited for long enough and even those naive as I will see the light.

I've noticed that gratitude from those that I helped has evaporated . I used to pull over on the road so those that wished to drive faster than I could overtake, and most would toot as they passed to say thank you. Never happens now.

Seems to me that gratitude has been replaced by a sense of entitlement

When nurses in an A&E are assaulted by those they are trying to help, it says to me that society is <deleted>.

In such a <deleted> world, why would any want to help another, and when we do it is rare that the helped says as much as "thank you".

Now, I'll only help those that I know and deserve my help, but I will help them.

Yes a long way from WW2 when folk would help each other if a relative was killed or house bombed .

    ' Come in , sit down , I will make you a cuppa '.

The closest I've got to dress shorts are a couple of pairs with the netting still slightly intact thereby preventing my Plums rolling out when i sit down ????

So cold in the shade today my plums have gone into hibernation somewhere above where they usually are.
