  1. Future Forward/Move Forward/??? will not back down from amending Section 112 and neither they should. This expected result from the Establishment's/Military's Corrupted Judicial System has just added millions of votes the the next iteration of FFP/MFP/??? at the next election if that actually can happen. The military is ready and warming up the tanks.
  2. Ridiculous. Adults all over Thailand smoke cigarettes in the same room or the vicinity of children. I'm not saying that it's ok to vape next to your kids or anyone else for that matter. I'm saying that the incidence of cigarette smoking around kiddies would be way, way higher than vaping.
  3. This has nothing to do with the PTP. It's the establishment elite, the military and he who cannot be talked about. Getting Thaksin back was a political move by the Junta and it's boss.
  4. An excellent article. A DARK DAY FOR THAILAND AFTER COURT DISSOLVED MOVE FORWARD PARTY In the end, the Constitutional Court today acted out of fear, citing eventual concerns that the monarchy institution will be eventually abolished if the main opposition Move Forward was allowed to continue to exist and charismatic former leader Pita Limjaroenrat allowed to hold political office. Thus the party was dissolved and Pita along with about ten others, including current party leader Chaithawat Tulathon were banned from from political office for 10 years. This leads to the question as to whether Thailand can still call itself a democracy when disenfranchising 14 million voters, or the biggest winner in the May 2014 general election, means little or nothing as long as voters want to see the monarchy institution reformed instead of being treated like a semi-divine institution from the Middle Ages in Europe. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/featured/2024/08/07/a-dark-day-for-thailand-after-court-dissolved-move-forward-party/
  5. What has happened previous to almost every coup here? People have taken to the streets. This is a historical fact. This is why I find the comment "There's rice in the bowl, all's ok!" an insult to the Thai people. Not only this but it's a puerile, uneducated comment. What will happen is yet to play out. Here are some scenarios. Students will take to the streets and this will peter out. Students will take to the streets and mass protests will follow. This will trigger a coup. Nothing will happen now instead people will wait for the next election where the dinosaurs will be profoundly punished, or nothing will happen at all due to complacency.
  6. Wrong again. They're going to a party they had set in the wings for this very occurrence of disbandment and political, pseudo legal assassination. If there's not a coup before the next election the dinosaurs will be wiped out.
  7. Sorry but I find this insulting to the Thai people.
  8. How to make me laugh heartily and be very angry at the same time. This decision is an antithesis of democratic process by a corrupt legal arm of the Junta and the Boss.
  9. Don't allow advertising. Muslim sensitivities ?????????????? This is just insulting. Why not ban pork and alcohol while you're at it.
  10. Disappeared or disappeared? Tummy full of cement and dropped into the Mekong.
  11. PTP are well in the cross hairs of the military/elite/royalists. Next week the PTP PM will get the chop.
  12. Exactly the outcome which was decided some months ago. No surprise. What will happen now is the interesting bit. The power of the minority elite and the military can not and will not be challenged through democratic means. Will the Thai people rise up and force reform?
  13. Garbage fish for eating IMO but Thais have no problem. These were taken from the local heavily polluted khlong.
  14. They can be but they are very bony. Thing is every single Thai would need to eat a thousand a day every day for the next tens years to put a dent in the numbers.
  15. If it happens that regulation rather than recriminalisation will actually occur then this is the logical move. Let's see what plays out and what "laws" will come into play. One thing is for sure Thaksin will not be happy. I wonder what behind doors negotiations have taken place.
  16. A "virtue" clearly lacked by the Thais buying their beer and spirits from my local mom and pop shop yesterday (Sun) and all the other Thais across Thailand. You have your own pious ideals but as with religion in general it's not based in reality.
  17. Adult videos!!!!!!!! LOL. Millions available. Sex toys etc. is a different matter. Yes, I know it's available but the point is it should be freely available to purchase. Just more of the ultra conservative religious minority telling adults what they can and cannot do.
  18. Everybody knows or should know that drinking alcohol on Buddhist holidays cannot be prohibited. Ridiculous to think so and just goes to show how ridiculous this dictate from the Prime Minister's Office is. As I'm typing this at 8:30 in the morning the parties (Thai) will already be starting up and continue throughout the 3 day weekend. This is the reality. The law (if it's actually a law?) is a complete nonsense.
  19. Get rid of all the frauds in the Senate. That should do it. Most Senate seats would be emptied. National election to vote in new Senate with no stupid qualifications attached, free and fair with international scrutiny and then maybe Thailand can take a step down the road to being a grown up not a petulant adolescent.
  20. Interesting. I'm a bit confused. 12:00 pm is midday and 12:00 am is midnight. I have seen some "educational" books here that say otherwise.
  21. I rather get pissed occasionally than be a sanctimonious <deleted>. As for a crutch I have a question for you. Do you believe in God?
  22. Stupid comment. Very puerile indeed. Every foreigner who lives here and drinks knows where to get alcohol on the Buddhist alcohol prohibition days as do the Thais and will act accordingly. Stock up today or buy from the small shops over the weekend. Absolutely nothing to do with being an alcoholic and everything to do with being able to enjoy one's life without the intrusion of an anachronistic dictate.
  23. Not the point. The point is people including Thais will be drinking alcohol over these two days yet the sale of alcohol in supermarkets, 711 etc. is prohibited all because of some Buddhist dictate.
