Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul

If age is a mathematical difference then I guess you've got your answer. -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Facebook, Tik Tok and games. As for individual teaching that's all well and good if there are 10 or less students in the class but try that with 40 students in a class. 4 classes of 40 students a day all being taught what THEY want to learn would be around 200 individual lesson plans per day. 1000 lesson plans a week? This is obviously impossible.. -

A 45 min lesson (in reality 40 min or a bit less) is a good lesson length. This way you don't miss a lesson. They're just a bit shorter. The OP doesn't mention anything about how this will happen (IF IT DOES?) but I think six 45 minute lessons a day. Shortens the average 6 lesson per day school day for students by an hour whilst retaining the six lessons a day. -
Army general tops polls in national Senate election
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What a surprise. If the Senate was voted for through a general election there would be no military men voted in. This selection process and this result just shows how unrepresentative this sham selection-not election-is.- 13 replies

Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul

Agree and disagree. Reduce lesson times to 45 min and abolish useless out of class activities e.g. scouts. 45 min which in reality will be 40 minutes is a pretty good time. Keep in mind the attention span of kids. -

This is true and is part of the indoctrination process as is religion. There are positives though like socialisation and how to behave properly in a society. -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Doesn't actually mention reducing classes and the headline is somewhat pre-emptive IMO that hours will be reduced but as I said in a previous post in-class time could be reduced, classes per day could be reduced or both less classes per day and less in-class time. My guess is still 6 classes a day but at 45 minutes. This would make an 8:30am-2:30pm school day for students. -

Many things are learnt at school and they're not all scholastic. -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul

Thanks @stonerBt3.48 billion. I think the entire budget is the more than Bt200 trillion that popped into my mind. But again reducing in-class time for students may save some money on school's electricity bills (a bit) but other than that you have not said how this actually saves money to be funneled elsewhere. -

This was for a specific project and has nothing to do with a reduction in school hours. The budget for public schools here is over Bt200 trillion. -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe you can explain how reducing the hours of a school day equals to taking money out of the education system to be used elsewhere. Not mentioned in the article but I would think a reduction in the time of one study period from one hour to forty five minutes may be one thing they are considering or a reduction from six in class hours a day to five or maybe both. How on earth does this equate to taking money away from the budget. -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It doesn't mean a cut back in education. What it's about is trying to drag the education system here out of the mid 20thC into the 21stC.- 149 replies

Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A brief response. A few things here. I agree that the school day should have a reduction in hours (ban homework also IMHO) and that not just tech based but 21C teaching as a whole that needs to be adopted. Associated problems: Way too many activities that takes students out of the classroom. A good example is scouts which is nothing more than a military recruitment exercise. There are just so many other examples of out of class activities to list. Beneficial activities like excursions I don't have a problem with. As for tech based teaching and as I said 21stC teaching this needs to be supported with the correct learning environment. Schools with 40+ students in a classroom that has no technology is NOT the ideal learning environment.- 149 replies

Thaksin Makes Comeback: Former PM Speaks at Pheu Thai Headquarters
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"It's sad that this wasn't obvious for everybody since a long time." This can be said for some other things in the mix. Ignorant sheeple are everywhere and this is what governments want. -
Strong Thai Public Support For Cannabis Reclassification
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Non-supported pro-govt narrative rubbish. "aims to regulate recreational use" yet Somsak (Thaksin) is pushing for recriminalisation. As for the largest "economic application" by far this is the sale for recreational use. This is the cash cow. What they want is to give this cash back to the drug lords and corrupt officials. -

Study Shows Young People Have Misconceptions About E-Cigarettes
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Mate of mine stopped smoking by vaping almost straight away. This is just more govt. narrative to be consumed by the sheeple. And how many of these were respondents that don't vape and don't have a clue. 7200 vaping. A large number for what is essentially an illegal product. I wonder what the % of non-smokers was and the % of cigarette smokers in this survey. I'm not sure it's vigorous enough to call it a study. -
Activist 'Penguin' Absent from Court, Suspected to Have Fled

Fleeing from Junta controlled courts for charges stemming from the anachronistic and weaponised law, Section 112, is not such a bad idea.- 28 replies

Pheu Thai Party Denies Plans to Abolish Party-List Voting System

A well thought out comment. Keep up the good work. What he did was exposed war crimes committed by the US. What he was not convicted of was rape/sexual assault.

Impending impacts of upcoming court rulings on Srettha and MFP

IMO this whole mess has military written all over it. They are manufacturing the instability so as to once again directly take control of the country. Obviously getting rid of MFP is all military and their boss. -
