  1. I once saw a young elephant eat a mandarine. It was amazing. It trod on it so delicately to just break the peel. Then picked it up with its trunk and ate the flesh and discarded the peel. Outstanding. There were Thais around at the time and we were all amazed.
  2. I gave the laugh emoji because I can't give the agree emoji also. You are correct. Harvard University. Claudine Gay. Done for plagiarism which is a level higher than academic fraud. Citation is something we are told we have to do certain times on here so why doesn't the same apply to the "writers" of articles on here which no longer attribute articles to their rightful owner. To say The Sun didn't lift the article from somewhere else is unknown to me but this article was definitely lifted from The Sun without attribution.
  3. As I said above this is a lift from The Sun and everyone knows that's a trash paper. AN has jus copied it with some changes. This would be acemedic fraud at the very least or plagiarism at worst in education circles as it's unattributed. Basically a stolen article albeit a crap article.
  4. It really is pitiful but sadly it does reflect a mentallity of Thai culture. Just need to look at the kindergarten slap fight at the top of the RTP. A lot higher level for sure but still a schoolyard slapfight between the corrupt and the corrupt.
  5. 777 also very quiet in flight with great seats and leg room. Always flew Singapore Airlines. Very nice flights aboard the magnificent 777.
  6. Boeing 777 will always be the best jet I've ever taken. Econ class of course.
  7. Interesting to see that inflation is not mentioned. Mmmmm? I wonder why people have less spending power? Nevermind the 100's of billions baht that needs to be taken from the coffers and borrowed for the populist PTP 10k card should fix that.
  8. Can you explain to us how the lives of the passengers were almost ended? I and I'm sure others on this thread would love to know.
  9. I'm thinking it was just the APU failed after pushback or when taxiing. No big deal but a bit of bad luck for the passengers on this particular flight..
  10. Sorry you are wrong. The wealthy help the planet in regards to climate change because they own a EV Merc in their fleet of non-EV Mercs.
  11. Seeing that I have some negative reactions to my above post it would seem that some people on this forum do not know that modern twin engine aircraft are quite capable of flying on one engine.
  12. Fairly sure Sonthiya Sawasdee will be covered in gold and has a very, very nice house and probably a merc or two so as always the one's who complain the loudest are the big mouth hypocrites as moderation is one of the three key pillars of this philosophy.
  13. This article is an unattributed lift from The Sun (A ChatGPT article itself) with AI changes. Here are some examples ..... The Sun: In one of the most jaw-dropping ordeals, 50 of the huge animals decided to saunter across a highway in Chachoengsao - leaving humans forced to watch on and wait. AN: In a notable event, a herd of 50 elephants crossing a highway in Chachoengsao halted traffic. However, the situation escalated when a seven-ton bull elephant named Duea sat in a motorist's car in Khao Yai National Park. The Sun: Provinces like Nakhon Ratchasima, Phang Nga and Hua Hin are all seeing increases in the number of human and elephant conflicts, according to local reports. Incidents have become so frequent and terrifying that locals have started to arm themselves with ping-pong "bombs" to scare away the beasts. AN: Further, regions like Nakhon Ratchasima, Phang Nga, and Hua Hin are witnessing a surge in human-elephant conflicts. As these incidents become more frequent, locals resort to deterrent measures like deploying ping-pong "bombs". The Sun: In Thailand, there are more animals working in tourism and logging industries than left in the wild. AN: .... significant number of elephants in Thailand are held in captivity, employed in tourism and logging industries, and kept in zoos and performance venues. Sadly, only a small proportion of these majestic animals are free in their natural habitats. etc. Here's an image from The Sun article compared to the image from this article. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/27673790/elephant-attack-capital-thailand-tourists-blame/
  14. We are talking passenger jets are we not. Airbus A340 and A380 and the few 747's still flying with 4 main engines apart from that it's 2 + APU.
  15. APU. Auxilliary Power Unit. This is a jet engine albeit a small one and is responsible for running many electrical systems including the a/c.
  16. Planes have 3 engines 2 of which can fail and the plane can still fly but yes if both main engines fail your time is more than likely up depending where it happens. They do have pretty good glide time so if a landing is possible so is survival.
  17. Let's hope the test kits are quality unlike some recent test kits for something else. Cervical cancer was the beginning of the end for my mother. She actually had a keyhole hysterectomy surgery which was quite new at the time resulting a vastly shorter recovery time but sadly it was as I say the beginning of the end. She was in her late 80's at the time and died at the age of 93.
  18. Mmmm? My posts pointing out that this wasn't mid air and there was no panic and this was likely an APU failure during taxiing keep disappearing. Ah! I see now. The headline has been changed. Nevertheless this is no biggie. APU failures happen. Still the article says during take-off and this I doubt very much. More likely during pushback or taxiing. If during take-off then only two things can happen. Aborted take-off before the PNR or take-off and turn around if the PNR has been passed which doesn't seem to be the case.
  19. Having an APU malfunction isn't a big mishap especially before take off. Even having an engine fail mid-air is no biggie. Serious yes but not fatal.
  20. Quite right. Usually get some storms in May when so many start to say the wet season has started which as you correctly call as a false start. After this comes the build up to the true start of the wet. Humid and occassional storms until it breaks and the wet season truly arrives. Hoprfully a June/ July start this year.
  21. China Obsever is not anti China it's anti CCP and why would Chinese imports be any different from the cars in China. Are they made to a different level for the export market? Are you saying the footage in this YT video is fake? Plenty of other articles and videos that show very similar things. As for your very confident statement "I am also on several Thai BYD groups and can confirm there has not been one single BYD explosion or significant fire here." @tomazbodner has shown otherwise. This happened when charging so there was obviously a quality issue. https://www.nationthailand.com/special-edition/ev/40030792 What about this story.... "Bangkok’s governor has ordered an urgent review of all premises in the capital storing EV vehicles and batteries after a serious fire on Wednesday night gutted a building in the Chatuchak area of the city." https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2023/09/09/ev-vehicle-concerns-after-bangkok-fire-bangkok-governor-chadchart/
  22. Fairly sure that EV owners on AN represent a tiny proportion of people here on AN. Now factor in all the foreigners that aren't on AN that have EV's. Now factor in the rest of the Thai population that have EV's. Now you can factor in out of all the people in Thailand that have EV's how many charge solely by solar and are off the grid. Add all this together and I reckon you would end up with sweet FA. The obvious next thing to think about would be how much of the total EV ownership in Thailand uses fosil fuel generated electricity to charge their cars. I'm guessing it would be the overwhelming majority.
