dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Marijuana is a mind-altering (psychoactive) drug, produced by the Cannabis sativa plant. Marijuana has over 480 constituents. THC (delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is believed to be the main ingredient that produces the psychoactive effect https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2020-06/Marijuana-Cannabis-2020_0.pdf -

When people criticise dope calling it a psychotropic drug then these people are uneducated to the facts. Education is a good thing but when pointed out it's responded to with negative comments. There is and I'll say it again there is no scientic evidence that dope should be reclassified as a type5 narcotic and hence recriminalised. It's political and it's Thaksin. -

Yes. Psychoactive and psychotropic are different. Other psychoactive drugs can include alcohol, caffeine and nicotine for example. Way too many people on this thread that push the demonising narrative with very little knoweledge of what their talking about. -

This is about a flooded market (one could say a healthy market) and reduction in prices and profits. Thought that would be obvious. -

Magic mushies. Psychotropic? Yes. LSD. Psychotropic? Yes. Dope. Psychotropic? No. Well none I've ever had and I've smoked and eaten some pretty strong stuff. -

Being led onto harder drugs and abusing them is not from the dope alone iI would suggest. I don't know why he went this way and I reckon you don't either. As for the guy that just sits around puffing all day again what issues are at play here. The majority of casual or recreational users of all drugs are functioning people. Even alcoholics aka functioning alcoholic. The whole dope is a gateway drug is also a furphy as it always implied smoking dope will lead to an addiction to harder drugs. This would be a very, very small % overall.. -

Many things can do damage to the body when abused and abusers will continue to abuse whether these things are legal or illegal. -

Can't legally purchace cigs or alcohol either but they do. It's a matter of societal attitudes and lack of law enforcement rather than the law itself. -

Difference is after a while of choofing down dope you don't fall down drunk. Might fall down from laughing too much but that's about it. Mixing the two is of course different. Then you fall down drunk and laughing. -

Nothing in your post suggest harm from dope. It seems like individual choices. As for your 3rd friend are you saying he lost his will, his job and his house simply because he smoked dope? -

I'm quoting you @jonclark for an excellent post. Selling to kids tough should be treated the same as alcohol and cigs. -

Says who? I'll guantee there is more evidence that says alcohol abuse does more damage. Keep in perspective we are talking about drug abuse not simply drug use. As for drug abuse legal or illegal it will continue to happen. -

Did they smoke? Were they overweight? Did they suffer from hypertension? Did their death certificate have cause of death as brain hemorrhage from cannabis consumption? -
Thai Dishes Triumph in International Salad Ratings, Says TasteAtlas
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes. Som tam poo pra ra is eaten all over Thailand because there are Issan people all over Thailand and it's not just those from Issan that eat it. Som tam thai I do like especially on a hot day (which is pretty much everyday) with a cold beer. Pla ra I don't eat. There are varying types of som tam but if it says papaya salad then it's som tam thai. -

You're paranioa and social issues have been diagnosed as a direct result of smoking dope then? Getting drunk on brandy is not a good thing for me so I don't drink brandy. Dope relaxes me and makes me feel happy so I like the occassional spliff. I don't drink brandy because I know my limits. I have a spliff because I like it. This should not make me a criminal. Different strokes for different folks as they say. . -

14. I'm ok. LSD, magic mushies, speed, coke. I'm ok. Didn't abuse any of them but I regularly smoked dope. Not as much these days but I don't drink as much either. I think it's called getting older.- 233 replies

Agree. The abuse or overuse of basically anything can be detrimental to ones health. As for what is and isn't a narcotic is debatable. These days it's more assiatiated with opiates, opioids and amphetamines. -

This is true but it's people who already have an existing mental health disease who are heavy users. It's nothing at all like meth that can cause mental health issues for all abusers having or not a pre-extisting mental health issue. For the vast majority of users it's simply not the case. Apart from this what exactly is frequent use. a joint a day? A few joints a week? Complete rubbish and just more demonising of dope from the bloke that said papaya leaf tea can cure cancer. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/deputy-pm-somsak-makes-false-claim-over-cancer-cure/ -
Thailand Set to Elect New Senate Amidst Constitutional Revamp
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand is not electing a new senate. Looking at the headline you would think it's a national election. It's not but it should be. A select few are being selected. Of course 50 of Prayuts lackeys remain. -

This is Som tam Thai which is NOT a Thai staple. This is the som tam which is the staple. Issan som tam poo pla ra of course eaten with khoa neow. Something tells me if the true staple was entered once that 'lovely' aromo of pla ra perviated the room there would be no one left to judge the dishes. Below is one of my favourites. Red ant egg salad. -

ATM's aren't going to work if you are cardless. Many people are these days. ATM swallowed my card not that long ago and I just started using the cardless function which of course requires you to have internet to access the app. I did get a new card for this very reason. -

Not the point. What if it was two hours? 24 hrs? Payment needed urgently for for one thing or another? No internet then no payment. This is what happens when payment can only be used whith an internet connection. As for the 50 minutes this alone can equal a massive amount of lost revenue. It doesn't take that much brain power to work out the negatives of a totally cashless society.
