Thailand should have posters at entrance points telling all coming in that freedom of speech is not allowed in Thailand. Any critisism of anything may result in legal action That should be good for the image. -

This is both rediculous and distasteful but to be expected of AI generated 'news' which are the majority of 'articles' on this site. -
Thanathorn Continues Senate Candidate Search despite EC Warnings
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They did win the election and won it convincingly. They were dinied their rightful place in office by the Junta's non-elected senators. 51% is to form government in your own right but this is virtually impossible in Thailand. They got 37.99% of the vote which is huge. They also won 10 more seats than PTP. It was the non-elected Senators who went against the will of the people and denied MFP their democratic right to office. -
Thanathorn Continues Senate Candidate Search despite EC Warnings

Quite the opposite last election. The people's decision was overwhelming in a landslide victory yet we are where we are. This whole Senate process is about not having fair elections. Keep in mind 50 of the junta's senators will remain and who knows how many of the others will be "voted" back in. -
Thanathorn Continues Senate Candidate Search despite EC Warnings

Aint nobody been gettin rid of with this. This is about appearing to be legit whilst bolstering the conservative elite/military power by a pseudo or one could say corrupt democratic process. The only way this unelected govt by the people is going is by a coup. All future elections will be rigged in favour of the status quo so I can't see any other way. -
Thanathorn Continues Senate Candidate Search despite EC Warnings

Yep and it's completely corrupt from the very top down and the so-called govt. is only representitive for the corrupt elites and the corrupt generals. This is why Thailand will never Move Forward. -
Thanathorn Continues Senate Candidate Search despite EC Warnings

And this is why it's a farce. The is a house of parliament and those within should be voted for by all voting age people of Thailand in national elections (as it is it remains basically non-elected and non-representative). Of course if this was the case come next election both the House of Reps and the Senate would be dominated by progressive parties and this just cannot be allowed as Thailand would be in danger of becoming a true representative democracy and the power and corruption of the generals and the elite would diminish. -

The new senate will be inclusive but only inclusive of those deemed supportive of the conservative military elite. No person deemed to be supportive of a progressive agenda are allowed. -
Big Joke and high-ranking officers are summoned by police

Big Joke and high-ranking officers are summoned by police More accurately .... Corrupt police officers are summoned by corrupt police officers -
It would need to. Last year was a short and not very wet wet season. Traditional wet season starts 20/07 this year which is Khao Phansa or the beginning of Buddhist Lent. Last year the real wet didn't really start until late August early September. I hope this year will be different. We need a long wet season. The build up to the wet what really does me in. Hot and humid.

Thailand's Heatwave: High Temperatures of 44 Degrees Expected
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
For the last week the daily minimum (usually the overnight minimum) has been 29°C everyday. What do you think the average minimum for the week woulld be? The daily minimum alone tells you nothing about the daily average temperature and therefore tells you nothing about the average monthly temperature. Yes it's usually always coolest before dawn which tomorrow is 5:59 AM not "around 7AM" but I simply fail to see what this has got to do with April's temperatures. Hot days and hot nights. That's what's it's been for the entire month. -
Amnesty International Condemns Thailand's Human Rights Violations

Of course any move to reform 112 is now an act to overthrow the Monarchy not to simply reform an anachronistic law that has been weaponised. The status quo must be retained here so the minority elite and military can maintain their power and wealth. -

Thailand's Heatwave: High Temperatures of 44 Degrees Expected

Point a. How do you think average daily and monthly averages are calculated? Daily average is the average of both maximum and minimum. Monthly average is the average of daily averages over the month. Point b. As it is the definition of a heatwave does not include heat index. Point c. As I said the monthly average will be up because every day the maximums are consistently high. As it is where I am the average daily high is 39°C and the average minimum is 29°C. Nothing unusual about these April maximums and minimums for my area it's just constant. Average for the month 34°C. It is the case though that this month is hot, hot, hot everyday. As for humidity, during the day has been between low 50% to low 60% but spikes after sunset. Daytime humidity here today was 53ish% and now it's 80%. Heat index has been low 40 to low 50°C. -
Thailand's Heatwave: High Temperatures of 44 Degrees Expected
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Having a look at historical data for Khon Kaen the monthly average temp is up about 2°C from April last year. This is not surprising because the daily maximums are constantly on the high side with no respite. Monthly average for April 2023-31.5°C/April 2024-33.57°C. Bangkok April 2023-31.74°C/April 2024-33.05°C. It's not a huge difference and IMO can be put down to everyday being at the high end of daily maximums. Not due to unusually high temperatures. https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/th/mueang-khon-kaen/VTUK/date/2023-4 -
Thailand's Heatwave: High Temperatures of 44 Degrees Expected
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not the same. It's not a heatwave here. The heatwave in Europe had temperatures way above normal for the time of year. Temps here are within the normal range for April it's just that it's everyday. If Bangkok was getting 40°C-45°C and Issan for example was experiencing 45°C+ for several days in a row then it would be a heatwave. As it is the highest temp for Bangkok this month has been 40°C and Issan low to mid 40°C depending where you are so within the normal maximums. As I say the difference this year is that it's everyday and this month may very well go down as the hottest on record. -

Nup! Not representative and also 50 of Prayut's junta appointed sentators will remain. Definitely! I think one could add maintaining the status quo of the miltary elite. This will be a definite.
