Are you saying that Xi Jinping is't a dictator and China isn't under a dictatorship. If you are I believe I have education on my side. Xi's philoshophy harkens back to the Mao era. -

Concern Over Spread Of Covid-19, Nearly 10,000 Cases A Day

Not the way it happened in China. People were forced vaccinated and caged up. When the CCP exited their rediculous policy of zero covid and lifted the draconian locklown, Covid spread throughout the country like wildfire. Everyone vaccinated and everyone wearing masks. -

Humidity isn't high. 56% where I am now. Been pretty steady for weeks. Pops up and down but usually between the 50-60% mark. That's not humid. -

As I said. It could be incidental. Yes they are confimed positive but that doesn't mean it's what they went to hospitital for hence the word incidental. No where did I say I'm disagreeing with the numbers of confirmed cases. Please don't misrepresent what I posted. This is just common manners. -

No but I helped slaughter a sheep. The chops were delicious after it had been hung for a couple of days. -

Not China, not the Chinese but the CCP. You know the totalitarian system run by Xi and his CCP. -
Thai tourism sector proposes 300-baht tax to counter over-tourism
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I thought they were already limiting the amount of people going into spots on the islands. Iimiting the number of snorklers at any one time in a single spot. These are good policies if adhered to. This is just the lastest backdoor way to tax tourists. The extremely well thought out entrance tax was a prime example of this tactic. This is just so translucent it's laughable. -

Who cares? If your happy that the Thai govt supports the totalitarian CCP then that's your choice. I for one am not. It's always a very one sided thing when it comes to them. -

Great news for the CCP that's for sure. I would like to know the % of Chinese workers brought in to do the work and get paid by the Thai taxpayer to Thai workers. -
Pity the $Aus isn't where it was 20 years ago. 32/34 or about to baht. It has been strenghtening somewhat against the Baht but still around Bt10 less.

Concern Over Spread Of Covid-19, Nearly 10,000 Cases A Day

Almost everyone now would have some natural immunity although the nature of Omicron variants is to breakthough said immunity. 10,000 infections may well be an underestimate as Omicron can be very mild or even unsymptomatic and hence go unnoticed. Each time you get it your immunity is upgraded and upgraded naturally. -

Lucky for you IMHO unless you are very old and/or have severe comorbidities. -

Concern Over Spread Of Covid-19, Nearly 10,000 Cases A Day This headline is based on the estimates of one person but it doesn't suprise me. Omicron is highly transmissable but is also non-severe for the vast majority. The interesting bit is the hospitalisation, pneumonia and intubation numbers. I wonder how many of the covid numbers are incidental with the reason that people are presenting to hospital is pollution related. I think it's also reasonable to postulate that those in need of intubation is pneumonia related rather than covid related. The death rate is very, very, very low and I'm guessing they were old with comorbidities. -
Thailand sweats under intense heat wave; coral bleaching detected
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"It's the hot season for heavens sake." Yes, it is. "Perfectly normal for time of year." April this year is hotter than the last few years and may end up being one of the hottest. "Nothing to do with global warming." Maybe. Could just be a strong El Nino but may also global warming. "Personally I love this hot weather." .....as long as the beer is cold. "The hotter it is the more I like it." Change it to she and I agree. "Bring on 45 degrees and I will get the wife to stake me out on the lawn ." Difficult to get the wife to do anything when it's 45° let alone stake me to the lawn which would be very weird indeed whatever the temperature. -

PM Explores Hosting Formula One Race in Bangkok
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Making an F1 street circuit in Bangkok would not be an easy task. Not only does a track need to be set out there also needs to be space for the pits and grandstands. Apart from that having a street circuit means massive disruption to traffic in the area for a couple weeks. Maybe out near Savanabhumi Airport. I would be very interested to see a plan of where it would be but something tells me as it is they have no idea. Reality is though that the F1 world circuit is full and to break into it is not easy. -
Embattled deputy police chief claims PM has abused authority

I agree to a point but no one is clean at the top of any organisation in Thailand. Take the corrupt out of the government, the army and the police and you wouldn't be left with many people.- 63 replies

This joint is like a bunch of squabbling schoolchildren. It's all part of a corrupt system where laws are manipulated and corrupted to benefit one corrupt side opposed to the other. -
Thailand Urges Peaceful Resolution Amid Myawaddy Conflict
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand Urges Peaceful Resolution Amid Myawaddy Conflict One of the more rediculous headlines often seen on this site. A peaceful resolution to a full blown civil war against a junta. The only resolution will be when the junta collapses which is seeming more and more likely although the junta is still powerful. Thailand, ASEAN and the world have a lot to answer for for turning a blind eye to a military junta that forcibly overthrew a democratically elected government. Not such a suprise from Thailand I guess which is run by the military. The CCP which has withdrawn it's support for the junta and now backs the Tripple Brotherhood Alliance must be rubbing their hands together if the junta falls to possibly move in. Who knows but Myanmar is a basket case.
