  1. Why delete it? Two great democracies in Asia have a meet. Nothing wrong with that.
  2. No! This is not a 21 day holiday with 28 deadly days. It will be the same as every year.
  3. Soft coup. Only way to change to system now is to overthrow it. Paradoxically this Contitutional Court ruling may lead to what they say they are trying to stop and what they accuse the MFP of doing. Of course MFP only wanted to modify 112 not overthrow the constitutional monarchy.
  4. Alas the majority of voters voted for the party that has the majority of seats, however, Thailand is a dictatorship by a minority elite and the will of the people through a democratic process will never come to fruition as long as the ruling elite maintain the power of the Senate and the courts. One cannot truly use the term democracy in reference to Thailand. Bit like the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Anything but a democracy.
  5. Elected? Yes. Corrupt? Yes. Saying he should be behind bars is not "politically fueled hatred." It was his sentence. Imprisonment. A sentence which has not and will not be carried out. Not one day in a prison cell to which he was sentenced. As for Prayut and the rest of the dinasaurs I could really, really, really sprout some "politically fueled hatred." As for just punishment let's not forget where we are. The just in just punishment stands for justice. TIT. Many as we know are above this. Untouchable.
  6. Pure and utter deflection. He should be in a jail cell a place he never was and never will be.
  7. Initially yes but the school children bit was Thaksin when the hours were enforced in 2004.
  8. I know of some but they are in industrial areas so they cater to night workers also, but you are right. On the whole they are around the 6-10 mark. Sometimes there are none around at all and 711's are the most local shop.
  9. Context. Context is about alcohol sales hrs and the poster says that locals know where to buy booze 24/7. My reply is in response to this. Sorry you misunderstood. I'd like to know where. M&P shops aren't open 24/7 (there are expetions but few and far between). 711's etc only 10 hrs a day so where can alcohol be bought 24/7? Again it's the context in which the 10 hrs a day is being used. Obviously it is in reference to the alcohol sales hours as this is what this thread is about. Sure I could have said that 711's etc. only sell alcohol for 10 hrs a day but in the context this is not necessary.
  10. Article 112 took care of a lot of them. The army took care of some others. RIP.
  11. As I've been saying every time this comes up now it's only the 2-5 pm being mentioned. Seems they are going to ignore the midnight to 11 prohibition.
  12. This is an assumption. My closest M&P sells beer cheaper than my closest 711. Distance between the two is around 25m. Hard to say definitely there will be a financial hit to the M&P shops. Of course some M&P are more expensive.
  13. I did not say 711's are open for 10 hours per day. Nobody on earth is going to say this. Alcohol sales, however, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 12:00 am IS 10 hours.
  14. And some countries no alcohol sales at all but this has nothing to do with the insane and without justification 12:00 am - 11:00 am and 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm prohibition (only in 7's, BigC, some pubs and restaurants etc) here. It is THE most stupid thing ever. Friends back home think I'm pulling their leg when I mention it. I'd settle for a midnight - 5:00 am ban but no restrictions is probably the way to go.
  15. Feeling like a can of beer at 10:30 in the morning is a choice for most and has nothing to do with alcoholism (espicially if on a holiday). Not being able to do this at a 711 is insane.
  16. I'd like to know where. M&P shops aren't open 24/7 (there are expetions but few and far between). 711's etc only 10 hrs a day so where can alcohol be bought 24/7?
  17. So drop the 2-5 but leave midnight to 11 in place? Insane law that needs to be scrapped entirely. And what about the tax reduction?
  18. You are very much entitled to your opinions. As for me I'm off to buy some eggs, some rice and have a couple of beers at the M&P shop. Alcohol is bad you say but much of western society is based on the works of ..... Immanuel Kant was a real pissant Who was very rarely stable. Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar Who could think you under the table. David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel, And Wittgenstein was a beery swine Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel. There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'Bout the raising of the wrist. John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill. Plato, they say, could stick it away Half a crate of whiskey every day. Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, Hobbes was fond of his dram, And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: 'I drink, therefore I am' Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed; A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed! https://mojim.com/usy143475x5x6.htm Thank you Monty Python.
  19. Nobody can be this stupid.
  20. The article you linked is about binge drinking in the morning NOT moderate consumption. What about if a person is a night shift worker. Plenty I've known (including myself) that will have a beer or two after the finish work in the MORNING. You are a entitled as much to your teatotalism as I am to treat my body the way I deem fit so again please keep your sanctimonious comments to yourself.
  21. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6804046/ "Wine is a popular alcoholic beverage that has been consumed for hundreds of years. Benefits from moderate alcohol consumption have been widely supported by the scientific literature and, in this line, red wine intake has been related to a lesser risk for coronary heart disease (CHD). Experimental studies and meta-analyses have mainly attributed this outcome to the presence in red wine of a great variety of polyphenolic compounds such as resveratrol, catechin, epicatechin, quercetin, and anthocyanin. Resveratrol is considered the most effective wine compound with respect to the prevention of CHD because of its antioxidant properties. The mechanisms responsible for its putative cardioprotective effects would include changes in lipid profiles, reduction of insulin resistance, and decrease in oxidative stress of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). The aim of this review is to summarize the accumulated evidence correlating moderate red wine consumption with prevention of CHD by focusing on the different mechanisms underlying this relationship. Furthermore, the chemistry of wine as well as chemical factors that influence the composition of the bioactive components of red wine are also discussed."
  22. Devilled kidneys on toast with a well chilled bottle of a good semillon desert wine on a warm morning is just a wonderful breakfast. Sok lek and lao khao for breakfast is insane but great. Not too much lao khao though. That <deleted> is dangerous. Actually the raw beef isn't the best idea either BUT it's a good way to start the day. (Songkran in the village)
  23. Your attempt at Cartisian logic is flawed. Apart from that I was showing, not cherry picking, an example to show that the label of alcoholic is not straightfoward as often used by those ignorant of the facts.
