  1. Thailand is rife with these and yes they're terrible. Look at the map anywhere in Chiang Mai and you'll find these everywhere. 🤮
  2. It's brutal I'm thinking of starting a GoFundMe.
  3. America is morally diseased. Many people have bizarre sexual fetishes but they keep it private. Only homosexual pervasions are celebrated in America but it's all the same thing.
  4. I used to live near in a gay neighborhood in Denver Colorado. When we went to walk in the park in the morning there were often used condoms littering the ground and I even got propositioned before by gay men. Regardless of whatever I was told growing up my experience with gay men is that they're deranged sexual deviants. I think many of them were sexually abused as children even. They really shouldn't be allowed to adopt boys or be in the boy scouts even if you ask me. Don't ask don't tell was a fair compromise I think but being opening gay needs to be red line for some spaces.
  5. Barking dogs are annoying but that's what they're hardwired to do when protecting property. Living in those Thai housing projects can be a nightmare if just a few neighbors have noisy dogs but what can be done? Ban dogs or move are really the only two options. The one thing you can do to be a good neighbor is restrain the dog when a person comes to the door instead of letting it continue to bark, or you can try this method which shuts up my dog.
  6. I actually agree with this. The game she's playing is: If I put out can I seduce the guy and get some money or do I get pumped and dumped? It can go either way.
  7. Come up to Samoeng. Nary a flat road to be found. You can't make it far before hitting 10%. Last night. The smoke hasn't hit bad yet but surely it's only a matter of time before the forest fires start.
  8. This must be averaged over some number of people right? Maybe it means for every 62 million km traveled by all cyclists one of them will die?
  9. I'm out nearly every day and survived thus far for many years. It's bad but not that bad. Some roads should be avoided though so if you're riding on the dangerous ones every day then your chances go way down.
  10. This is a confusing number to reason about.. From Google: "Per billion passenger-kilometer" (pkm) is a unit of measurement representing the transportation of one billion passengers over a distance of one kilometer. It's used to quantify transport activity and is calculated by dividing the total number of deaths by the number of passenger kilometers with a factor of 1 billion. I'd rather know the inverse, how many kilometers on average do you need to bike before seeing one death?
  11. some of the worst offenders will try passing on the shoulder to get around other cars and if they got in fast the car they're passing could block their view and they wouldn't see a bike.
  12. You're new here so you don't know but this most cynical expat community in all of Thailand. Check out this guys channel. Filled with stories from people just like yourself. Could be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/@thaitalkwithdan
  13. Any women from any walk of life that is grabbing for money is vulgar and repulsive in my eyes. PUMP AND DUMP BRO!!
  14. This was pretty incredible so I wanted to share this guys video. Finally some Thailand content on YouTube which isn't the same old boring stuff. So, they're in Phuket and go on a rafting tour with guides. For some unknown reason the tour guides get into a fight and start attacking each other with the ores while still on the river and with tourists aboard the rafts. One of the tourists even got whacked on the nose. Fun way to spend the day in the land of smiles. 😂 Cheers to the guy who got the video.
  15. People don't know what it costs to build in Thailand and get herded into these developer projects with massively inflated prices. It's just a concrete box. I've seen them build enough houses in Thailand to know what they are on the inside. There's not even anything particular fancy in the house, maybe a higher grade of tile and some fixtures. It's the still the same shell that costs about 11,000 baht/sqm. Total scam but imagine your from California like these guys are and sold your little house for 1mb USD (not uncommon) and now you're loaded you cash and don't really care. Developers in Thailand know these people are out there and will buy lease hold projects so here we are.
  16. People that don't know Pai may not know that 99% of the people walking around there are tourists. It's very clear to me why they were targeted.
  17. The road safety part is pretty self explanatory, no? They're bothered by this one annoying thing (smoking weed in public) but totally unbothered by the endless daily traffic violations. I'd rather have people smoking weed in public than getting blasted in the face with diesel smoke when I'm on my bike, and yes this happens nearly every day at least once. Police seem fine with that even though it's technically illegal too.
  18. It's not good for Thailand. Changes the culture. Makes the locals upset. There's already too many tourists so if you open that up to foreign labor too it would be the end of the country in some regions.
  19. Go to China or America, or Europe if you want Chinese food cooked by Chinese people.
  20. So this is the horse molester kid from last year in Phuket? Why didn't he get deported and why is ASEAN now posting this story as if it's some heart break we should all care about?
  21. It's not a country that deserves foreign investment honestly. That being said you can easily invest for years and earn profits even but the idea always leavers a bad taste in your mouth for many reasons.
  22. Maybe it's morbid to some but I wish I could be put down if this ever happened to me. It's over at this point. You're going to die in Thailand or die back home but there's no way to come back from this it sounds like.
