  1. He's at serious risk for assignation now when this is over. He wrecked the country and got thousands of people killed. Western governments and media are to blame too for fueling this. What's amazing is that it was a mere 6 months after America abruptly pulled out of Afghanistan and people still went for another needless war overseas. Flags on their social media and front lawn, the whole 9 yards.
  2. What do you pro-Ukraine war guys really want? Are we going to fight a proxy war for decades or is time for full scale war with Russia? Ukraine can't win on their own so it's time to escalate if you want to continue. However this went down really doesn't matter but for me it's a good thing this is unraveling before it gets even worse than it already is.
  3. That's where all this is coming from? Maybe if it was a long term expat or a forum member that would be more relevant but random tourists shouldn't have their e-begging publicized on a public forum in my opinion.
  4. so Thailand deports them for the typical reasons people get deported here (I never heard of them accepting refugees long term and how would they legally work anyways so probably working illegally) then Muslims in Thailand do terrorism on the Thai public as retaliation. Sounds like a no-win scenario for Thailand to be messing around with any of these people. That includes the Thai public, expats and tourists.
  5. that's what he article implied to me. For all the woes with tourists they aren't bombing cities to avenge their fellow tourists previously done wrong by Thailand. Obviously these aren't groups you should be risking, if that's really what's happening here.
  6. Thailand has fostered a culture of dangerous driving so it's their own fault. They should be looking inwards. Tourists know this is a country they can rent a large bike with no license and drive at any speed they want and more than likely can even get away with drinking and driving.
  7. I forget now, what exactly happened here? Did Uyghur Muslims do the attack and thus Thailand deported them? If so it sounds like Thailand has a problem with this group and maybe they should be deporting them for their own safety.
  8. seems like he got brain surgery already somehow and now he simply wants to get back home and that's where the costs are coming from. He could do worse than being in Thailand but he needs to find a cheaper hospital, which probably does't' exist on that island.
  9. Oops re-read again. So he already had brain surgery in Thailand and now needs medical reparation for 6 million baht and wants others to pay for him. How about he just stay in Thailand until he recovers. If he's brain dead then have the family come for the funeral in Thailand. This guy is probably the kid of some Nigerians that made it to England in the late 80s or 90s and now he's traveled to Thailand and smashed his brain. This story has nothing to do with the English, Europeans or even Thai's for that matter. It's just some African with a British passport. If I have any money to donate it will go towards my own family or locals in my Thai community, not some random Nigerian that wants to vacation in Thailand and do dangerous things. Stop feeding the bears, give these people ZERO baht every time.
  10. I went to Samui for the first time last year during January and stayed on some beach villa on the north/west corner. Got a motorbike and explored around the north and western side of the island trying to get up all the steep little concrete roads I could find. The island has some shockingly steep roads I had fun with but would be deadly during the rainy season. Otherwise I didn't experience dangerous traffic or anything out of the ordinary for Thailand down there. I think I may have been on the wrong side of the island though where it's not very dense. There was some tension on the narrow roads in a few places and it picked up once you get in to the city. The most noteworthy thing about Samui is how non-Thai it is. 100% dominated by tourism. Even the staff at restaurants was Burmese often. There wasn't a single Thai person on the flight to or back from Chiang Mai. Fake Thailand to say the least. If tourists are crashing often they're probably just doing it to themselves is my guess and doesn't even have much to do with Thailand per se.
  11. how much does it costs to do brain surgery in Thailand? Surely not 6.2 million baht. If he's desperate he should find the best hospital he can afford and do the surgery in Thailand, a country well known for medical tourism anyways.
  12. I was just in Chiang Dao 2 week ago. So much open land there. Light pollution wouldn't be a problem.
  13. Go anywhere outside of a big city and you can probably see it. This is where I live. There's a really annoying street light right outside my house on the street but I can still see the some very stars beyond the trees. If I bothered to go out a few minutes I could escape the street lights and should get a good view. I bet it's this way all over rural Thailand.
  14. Ok so now I'm curious, do you guys really not know Thai girls love toy dogs?
  15. My dog is well behaved and quite enough unless you come to door. Besides that these dogs are CHICK MAGNETS. Thai girls love these things. Get one and you'll have girls coming up to take pictures and ask it's name age etc...
  16. Farang is a handy term for white people, doesn't need to mean anything more than that. It only hurts you if you desire a belonging in Thailand and feel isolated when they remind you that you're not one of them. IMO you shouldn't be seeking validation from them and be proud of your heritage as Europeans.
  17. People saying "westerners" all the time feels tedious to me. You're all Farang or white people as far as I'm concerned. Plus, when in Rome....
  18. "You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American." Ronald Reagan. It's been going on a long time and spans the entire population. Endless propaganda on TV and movies has been devastating also. People are learning their lessons slowly but not even a majority of American understand not all cultures are equal and should be kept out.
  19. nothing, are you sure? So my dog and the pit bull have the same chance to kill if only I was a worse owner. Make it make sense. no
  20. I think they're just using Buddhism as an excuse to be lazy do nothings. They can't kill the dog because it's against their religion but if the dog kills you then it must be karma. How very convenient. Sounds like the perfect philosophy for a person dedicated to a life of sloth and inaction.
  21. If you're a gun owner and accidentally shoot someone it's still your fault. Same with dogs owners. You can't always control the dogs actions but at the very least you must be held accountable.
