Myanmar Beauty Queen Says She’s Safe In Hands Of UN Officials
Banana7 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
She looks gorgeous. How can I meet her in person? Since she wants to come to Canada, maybe I can marry her and bring her to Canada since I am Canadian. -
Always ask cost/price before renting or buying. The situation is hot, you have done something to anger her, so you have to cool things down. Try negotiating, or just give her a reasonable sum that you think is fair or market rates. If more is demanded, make an excuse why more is not available at this time. Leave for some reason, ie. meet friends elsewhere. Threat could be real.

There are logical reasons why the OP's business experiences high employee turnover and the owner/operator is asking for help to retain employees. Nothing is hilarious about it, he wants a prosperous business. As others have identified, the 500 baht monthly lunch money is sufficient cause to leave. A half decent Thai lunch costs 50-70 baht. Many places provide a lunch in-house, to make it more convenient for the employees and avoid cash payouts. Many Thai people do want to work for a decent employer and a decent wage. I know of businesses in Thailand (Pattaya) where about half the staff have been with the company for 10 years or more, before COVID-19. There are numerous critical success factors to retain employees and the OP's business is missing some of them, all very logical

ADVICE NEEDED. Executing a foreigners Thai will.

Someone has to go to the court to get the probate order issued, pay the taxes and they need to speak and write Thai. I recommend hiring a lawyer. -
SURVEY: What are your biggest issues in Thailand?
Banana7 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, I have been stopped as many as 3 times in one day by Police checkpoints, while the Thais get to drive by. I get stopped about 5-8 times every year. No I didn't pay because everything was as required by law. In one day, one checkpoint stopped me twice in 45 minutes. The checkpoint was on one side of the road but the guy ran across the road, on my return trip, to stop and do a second breath test. It takes time to do a breath test, and show all the documents at checkpoints, so it takes away from my freedom. Normally, in a democratic society, Police need probable cause to detain a person. In each and every stop, there was no cause. This is why there is insufficient democracy in Thailand. Additionally, the defamation law is also over-reaching democracy. It doesn't matter if it is my country in regards to les majeste law. It deprives people, both Thai and especially foreigners of freedom of speech. Most foreigners, especially tourists from democratic countries, are not aware of that law and could easily breach it. -
SURVEY: What are your biggest issues in Thailand?
Banana7 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Certainly all of these are major issues. Everything doesn't have to happen to me personally but all of it could happen. And if it did happen to me, I wouldn't be here today to tell you about it. Yes I have paid 5 times more than Thai to enter a national park, many times. Yes I have paid more than a Thai to go the aquarium, and many other attractions. Yes, I have paid more for a meal than a Thai, especially in Phuket. Yes foreigners do die in police custody, like the Canadian in DSI prison in Bangkok, who allegedly hanged himself, which is BS. Of course there were no witnesses, no video, unlike with Joe Ferrari. Stand opposite a Police road checkpoint in Pattaya, even in front of the police station. Watch how many Thais can ride by without helmets and not get stopped and how many foreigners without a helmet get stopped. 10 foreigners get stopped, 1 Thai gets stopped, yet 10 Thai drive by without helmets. I can't say anything critical about a certain person in Thailand, that is a lack of freedom of speech. I have friends who own businesses that have told me that they had to pay large sums of money of police and military personal so they would stop closing their business, and there are countless numbers of other matters. Yes, I have friends that pay extra for retirement visas, who don't meet the financial requirements, etc. Open your eyes and ears! -
SURVEY: What are your biggest issues in Thailand?
Banana7 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The biggest issues in Thailand are not even mentioned in the survey, which are a lack of democracy, lack of freedom of speech, government spying on people on the internet (a lack of privacy) and government employee corruption, especially corruption of the Police, like Joe Ferrari, and other Police and military and immigration officials. Another issue is unequal justice for all; a mushroom picker in the national forest gets 10 year prison sentence but a policeman who kills a doctor, or a construction tycoon who kills black panthers in a national park get smaller sentences. Then there is the death of that actress in Bangkok who died in the river, falling off a boat. Rip-off pricing pricing for foreigners. Even dual pricing is a major issue in Thailand where foreigners pay 5 times the price of a Thai, or pay higher prices in restaurants for exactly the same meal. -
Yellow book - what's the procedure for getting one?
Banana7 replied to scubascuba3's topic in Pattaya
Whichever office issued your blue book is the only office that can issue you a yellow book, in most cases. Government offices do have different rules for the same document, even the rules change depending on the person you speak to in the same office. The requirements do change over time, and here are the requirements from Pattaya city hall, about a year old. In Pattay City Hall, go through the front door, up the stairs to the 2nd floor, turn left at the top, then right, walk about 10 meters and ask at the information desk. -
Baht drops against dollar to 5-year low, poised to drop further

This morning 28 April, cash rate, in BKK is 34.36 baht = USD$1. -
Normally, if you are hit from behind, it is always the fault of the rear vehicle. The cops know this, and normally will assess the fault as such. If the front vehicle cuts off the rear vehicle, the rear vehicle should have braked to share the road, or hit the front vehicle on the side. If the rear vehicle hits the front vehicle on the side, then the front vehicle is at fault, meaning the front vehicle clearly cut-off the rear vehicle and the front vehicle did not share the road.

Go back an re-read the orginal post which clearly states, in the first paragraph fourth sentence, the bag is not plastic! At a minimum, can you please read the post and comprehend it ? Many other replies in this thread seemed to missed that important fact. I guessed that there would be lots of people against plastic bags that is why I specifically stated the bag was not plastic.
-
Normally I go out for the day, for a variety of activities, shop after dinner on the way home. I don't want carry around bags for 6 -10 hours. I walk and don't drive a motor vehicle. I don't go out to just shop. Any bag provided is reused. Plastic bags are used as household garbage bags.

Went to large department store in Pattaya to purchase 3 bottles of booze, totaling 8,000-9,000 baht. Paid for it and asked for a free bag to carry the purchase. Cashier refused and the manager refused, so I got a refund. The bag wasn't made of plastic. Went to a large grocery store, purchased the same bottles, recieved free bags, purchases were even double bagged. The large department store probably lost 1,000 baht or more in profit over a bag, which probably cost them 2 or 3 baht, but they wanted me to buy for 4 baht. They also lost a customer for future booze purchases. Is this smart marketing and customer relations by the large department store? Time for the department store to get new management? What are your thoughts?

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy custom made curtains in Pattaya?

Next time take a photo of the menu and the bill. Say, let's go see the Police, I want you charged with trying to Cheat. Or better yet, pay the bill, get a receipt and then go to the police. The transaction was completed so there is no backing out, evidence is complete. Also post on the internet.

I don't know if he had a Will.

No I wasn't present when the items were removed but a neighbour saw the the police with the articles in hand leaving the condo. The condo was locked and the police had the keys to the condo. Passport, credit cards, wallet, bank cards were at the hospital, provided as collateral for payment of services rendered. My concern is police accountability. If something is removed, a receipt should be provided by police and maybe also photographic evidence. What is the proper legal process for accounting of confiscated property by police?

His father, who lives in Europe, is aware of his death. Father communicates in German, so another friend does the communication with the father, I don't understand German. I don't have access to the room. Room and vault keys and phone were given to the police. I'm not sure what happened to his bank and credit cards. I did see his bank books, before they were given to the hospital (as collateral) , which had balances of about a million baht.

There are no reports that embassy staff visited the dead person's condo.
-
It was owned and up-to-date on condo fees.

A friend recently died in a Pattaya hospital. The Pattaya Police and the dead man's embassy were informed of his death. The cause of death, was organ failure (cancer and another disease), and involved no criminal activity, drugs or violence. The Police visited the dead person's condo room multiple times. I understand that it is the Police's responsibility to secure a dead person's assets. Is there any reason why police would remove articles, such as musical instruments, from a dead person's room, in this case? What should happen legally, to the dead person's possessions and room contents?

I went to Laemson National Park, showed my pink ID card, I am over 60 (was asked my age), but I still had to pay full farang price, 5 times greater than the Thai price, which was 200b, if I remember correctly.
