After reading all the posts here, I'd like to get a big air fryer. I see shopee has a proFryer mAXX for about 3,000 baht. Does anyone have one? What's your opinion of it?

Jomtien office is doing a very thorough check of all ED and non-o visas and extensions thereof. Instead of taking 1 day to issue an extension, now it is 3 business days. They are checking who was involved when the original visa was issued and if everthing was done properly, according to regulations. Also verifing the authenticity of all documents submitted to get the extension. Are any other offices taking longer to approve extensions of long-term visas?

NO I am not one that has left the renewal until the last day and there is no concern of losing days. Next, I do know there is weekend, which is not part of business days. But did you count and undertsand that it will be returned next Wednesday, which is 3 business days later, as stated in the original post? If the weekend is included, it 5 calendar days later.

The real issue is too many cars, and a very unfriendly pedestrian street design. Cable cars don't carry cars! Most of the sidewalks are a wreck and even the new sidewalks take years to repair and finish. Pattaya Klang sidewalks are still unfinished about 2 years later. Pattaya, Tai sidewalk tiles are already broken in many places, and in many places the tiles haven't been completed, this project is about 3 years in progress. Now beach road, beachside sidewalk at the northend is a wreck and it has replaced about 3 times in the past 6 years. Beach road sidewalk, on the east side is a wreck, many places places are occupied by merchants, utility poles, and other obstructions that limit passage to one person. All of the smaller Sois leading to beach road don't have sidewalks. Wake-up Pattaya City Hall, and make Pattaya a pedestrian friendly city, at least between the beach and Sukhumvit highway. Also get all of pedestrian crossings on beach road painted and the traffic crossing lights working. Finally, get the Police to enforce the traffic lights.

Went to Jomtien immigration today, Friday 16 December 2022 to renew retirement visa extension. Arrived at 7:50 a.m., 50 people in line outside before me. Doors opened at 8:30 a.m., entered building at about 8:50 a.m. Departed at 10 a.m. and told to return next Wednesday, 21 December 2022, afternoon to pickup passport. About 70 people in line outside when I departed. This is longest wait in the past 10 years, after getting a queue number. One of the intake officers didn't accept queue patrons for about 30 minutes, instead he processed burgandy coloured passports from a basket. Some of the prior patrons were arguing with the IO about the required documents, something about rental agreement and the owner's ID card. About 3 patrons didn't show-up when their queue number was called. The first person in line commented they arrived at 6:45 a.m. . Other people in the line after me, commented that they had come earlier in the week and left without getting service because the line-up extended into the street. Another said, they were told to comeback another day because there were enough people in the queue for the current day business hours. In prior years, I could pickup the passport the next business day, but now it is 3 business days later. Does anyone know why the extended wait?

Yes they have a right to prevent you from crossing the border, and leaving Thailand. Immigration needs to follow a certain process to allow you to leave, and in your situation/circumstance, they can't process your departure at your selected border point.

WISE Card is accepted in supermarkets?
Banana7 replied to lyskamm's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If you use a foreign Debit card at a Thai bank, the Thai bank determines the exchange rate, and withdraws the foreign funds from the foreign bank. Thai bank exchange rates are not as good as WISE exchange rates. I have not tried the cash withdrawal in Thailand using a WISE card with a THB balance. I only obtained a WISE card in Sept. this year. WISE did provide me with the info, I previously posted, about fee free cash withdrawal process. The great feature of WISE debit cards is that the holder gets to choose the date of exchange. Whenever I have used a foreign credit card in Thailand, the transaction posting and conversion dates is about 1 to 5 days later after the actual transaction date, and usually on the date when I get the worst exchange rate in a 5 day period after the actual transaction date. One loses control of the actual exchange date using a credit card in my opinion. -
WISE Card is accepted in supermarkets?

If you want a cash withdrawal in THB in Thailand from a WISE card, with a balance in THB, go to a bank that provides/issues/accepts VISA cards. Do not go to their ATM. I was told they should give a fee free cash withdrawal in THB over the counter. -
There is more than 1 resort on that island that likes to sue customers who leave negative comments on the web. I was personally threatened at one resort, that if I left a negative review on the internet, I would be sued. I complained the towel had not been changed from the previous day. I was told I would have to pay 20 baht/towel for a new clean dry towel. I have been in Thailand more than 10 years, visited at least 20 hotels/resorts and this was the first time towels were not changed on a daily basis. Amazing Koh Chang resorts! I recommend Koh Kood/Koot/Kut, which for me, is much nicer and more hospitable. Peter Pan Resort was wonderful.

Don't forget those nice resorts on KC that like to sue and jail their customers if you post something negative about the resort.

Quite sure about what I stated. You just have to have evidence of what was stated, so in the case stated, keep your receipt and reservation confirmation. Police complaints are recorded. Perhaps the statement may result may in a loss of business for the owner but the onus will be on the business owner to prove that any loss was directly related to the statement and the statement was false or substantially misleading, and of course evidence must support the claim. There have been many articles posted about constitutes defamation in Thailand and the stating the truth ( with evidence) maybe stated even if it defames someone. When you talk about how oneself feels and your future actions, no one can disput that it is false or misleading.

Why is there no Bacardi Breezer available in Thailand? I went to 5 7/11 stores and Tops supermarket in Pattaya and found no Bacardi Breezers. Does anyone know where I can find some Breezers?

The fines in Thailand are far too low. Should be at least 5 to 10 greater than now. One major reason that Thailand has lots of traffic accidents is that, rarely do the police enforce the rules of the road, and when they do, the consequences are miniscule relative to the danger/damage created by the driver.

I have known Americans and Canadians who have lived for long periods of time, in Nirun. They liked it, some even bought a condo on Nirun but all have sold now. It's in a great location walkable to restairants bars, Big C, Foodland. Central festival is about a 20-25 minute walk. Beach is a 25 min. walk. Also consider 9 karat condo.

New passport stamps transfer
Banana7 replied to luicks's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What is the process to continue a retirement visa extension and mutiple re-entry permit after obtaining a new passport while outside Thailand? The orginal visa was issued in Bangkok 5 years ago and the last extension of stay and multiple re-entry permit were issued in Jomtien. When returning to Thailand, should both old and new passports be produced for entry? What should be the "stay until date" upon entry. -
But you can write a review saying exactly what happened and how you feel about the hotel . For example, "upon arrival, and after paying a deposit, my reservation was not honoured, and I had to find another hotel. I had to involve the police to get my deposit returned. I will never book at this hotel again. I recommend not booking at this hotel".

I have heard some people are successful by going in the afternoon. I tried that once, at about 1:30pm and was told to come back next day before 8am because they had reached their limit. They have a limit as to the number retirement extension processed in one day, someone said it was 200 per day at Jomtien.

500GBP is insignificant. I know people who have carried USD$25,000, plus other currencies, totaling USD$40,000. If the total value of monetary instruments are greater than USD$20,000 declare them at customs, customs Red line at the airport. They do random checks to make sure an arrival has sufficient means to support themselves during their visit.
