Thanks, but is this July the 1st an official decree or just what Hard Rock Hotel is doing?

I am not remotely interested in Pattaya, but Thailand in general. I rent a house in Nakhon Sawan province and need to get back there.

    (Currently stranded in the Philippines)

July 1st opening is what Hard Rock is scheduled to do, at this time and is informing its employees. It is subject to change based on Government rules, regulations and laws.

Very bad experiences with most of airlines during the Covid-19. Most of them cancelled all flights without giving possibility to their passengers of going back home. Also most of them are not giving back the reimboursement of cancelled flights or the procedure is not applicable. Air Asia and Qatar Airways, two on that list that I'll remember for the future.

Qatar has charged CAD$3,000 for a one way flight, economy class, from Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) in April 2020. Flight was packed full, no spare seats or social distancing.

A normal return flight, not by Qatar, is CAD$1,000.

I expect that in June or July the first tourists from some Asian countries like China, Japan and South Korea are allowed to come. But there is no official news so I think the director is only guessing not knowing.

Hotel is scheduling staff based on the forecast.  The hotel is not opening until July 1, so in June, they are expecting insufficient tourists to open the doors. As long as the tourist are virus free, the sooner the better for hotel owners and staff.

  4. A big chain hotel, in Thailand, Director announced today to employees that the earliest they are expecting international tourists is October 2020. Maximum occupancy based on domestic tourism is forecast to be 40% until October 2020. Director's  statement was based on what he was told, "earliest date that they can expect Thailand to permit international tourist arrivals".

Has anybody heard any other date when international tourists can start arriving?

  5. I tried booking with EVA today for BKK TPE YYZ on June 5. Trip is available but only for Taiwan passport holders. No go unless you have a Taiwan passport. Earliest, possible preliminary booking date is July 1, 2020 for non-Taiwan passport holders. July 1 is only the earliest preliminary date, and is subject to change to a later date, based on CECC restrictions for international transit passengers without a Taiwan passport.

  6. HR director at one of the Pattaya big chain hotels today said they are expecting international tourists only in October, at the earliest, when Thailand starts accepting international flight arrivals.

Looks like we are in for a few more months of super low season.

  7. So the people of Pattaya and Chonburi, who done a good job in self isolating and preventing the virus from spreading get to be punished and can't enjoy the beach. Pattaya and Chonburi people should be rewarded for doing a good job and obeying the all mighty politicians by being allowed to enjoy the beach.

The smart thing to do is keep the road blocks in place to prevent others coming into Chonburi from RED zones. But we can't expect smart from Thai politicians can we?

The second wave is going hit until a vaccine is developed and everyone in Thailand and everyone trying to get into Thailand has been injected. But as we all know, the borders are porous, and infected people will come illegally from neighbouring countries as they are doing now,

"So that means if you have a EVA Air flight BKK TPE to SEA or YYZ or any other North American destination, you are going to waiting for about another month or more. "

I assume this would also apply to China Air, another Taiwan based airline.... along with any other airline that transits through Taiwan.

Bkk TPE SEA was my route of choice. And so it goes

Yes, it applies to all airlines, not just EVA.

I was booked to fly eva air return bkk-LHR 1 May...return 10 may...they changed my return date and when I asked could I get a refund if I cancelled  I was informed yes 'Full refund'..I booked with Eva Air as frequent flyer .I was informed the money would be credited to my master card within 10 days...No refund yet..I phoned [only way to talk to anyone on Eva Air] and after a long long wait was informed that my refund will take 3-4 MONTHS.......Has this happened to anyone else and is there any way I can get my refund paid NOW?...I am concerned re the possibility of Eva going bust.

You are lucky they are offering a refund. Canadian airlines are offering travel vouchers, which expire in 2 years or less. I called EVA today, refund for return trip is 50% of the initial ticket price.

  10. On April 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it will extend restrictions on direct cross-strait flights and the ban on airline traveler transits through Taiwan amid the continuing spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) across the globe. The former measure was originally scheduled to remain effective until April 29 while the transit ban was originally scheduled to be lifted on April 30. The CECC stated that when to lift the restrictions remains to be decided depending on the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

So that means if you have a EVA Air flight BKK TPE to SEA or YYZ or any other North American destination, you are going to waiting for about another month or more.
