  1. Probably one of the daftest posts anywhere on ASEAN!
  2. What a load of homophobic nonsense....
  3. Looks to me as if they most likely aren't regular speed cameras, the devices appear to be some kind of traffic monitoring system as seen on many major roads around Thailand. Advanced Traffic Monitoring System: uses multiple cameras to track traffic flow, identify vehicles (including stolen ones), and even monitor for accidents. If near an intersection they may monitor red light jumpers. Thy may capture license plates of vehicles that pass through check licence and traffic density. Oddly enough I got a speeding ticket (and photo) near there about 11 years ago - 500 baht.
  4. I think in general the authorities should be concerned about the numbers of "retired" military personnel living on Samui . THey seem to have made arrangements with local authorities but one wonders how genuine they work permits/visas may be.
  5. It's about registering foreigners staying in a place. and what they have to do if they return to that place
  6. In 2023, the Australian Parliament introduced a bill to legalize cannabis for adult recreational use, but the bill has not yet been passed. Cannabis laws in Australia vary by territory. In most states and territories, cannabis is illegal for recreational use. However, in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), it is decriminalized for personal use. This means that possession of small amounts of cannabis is no longer a criminal offense, but it can still result in a fine. It's illegal in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, and Northern Territory (except for small amounts for medicinal use). Decriminalized for personal use (up to 50 grams of dried cannabis or 150 grams of fresh cannabis): Australian Capital Territory (ACT) – You can grow up to 2 plants per person at home. These laws are likely to change in the near future. There also are many hydroponic shops selling equipment that is allegedly for tomatoes but it also grows very good cannabis.
  7. I don't think you’ve read them - you just see some headlines in the media and think that's the same think. - I seriously doubt your ability to read a medical paper or make head or tail out of the conclusions and then apply that to legalisation. The truth is there is very little research into recreational cannabis (and medical) because it was illegal worldwide and research was not permitted except in special circumstances.. A lot of the "papers" are not peer reviewed and have vested interests - law enforcement agenicies, and alcohol etc... What the public need to do is take a step back from the hysteria and take a broad outlook on a drug that has been in use for millennia. Then look at the social effects and balance that against the effects of making drugs illegal. There is a simplistic school that believes that anything you "don't like" should be banned - those people then look round and cherry pick often spurious "evidence" to back up their point of view - which in reality is a prejudice and not an opinion.
  8. But that's just it! There ISN"T any hard evidence.
  9. So when is a bud not a bud.....
  10. I travel extensively in Thailand and Laos.
  11. THanks for all the replies i don't want to use the phone a nub can take several users and leaves my phone free for normal use. It's for use in a house tht doesn't have fibre - but 5G can actually be faster than a lot of the standard broadband/ So I want ot be able to go not a real shop, sit dw and talk about the deice and packages with the salesperson. I think the links provided above should do it. I upgraded my phone SIM to %5G keeping my old number and the download speeds went off the scale.
  12. Yes- I know that, but I'd prefer to buy in a shop or AIS outlet if they do it . So really need someone who has first hand experience.
  13. Does the plug in work on a SIM?
  14. Where can I buy a mobile wifi hub with 5G capability? Do places like Banana stock them or is there somewhere better to go?
  15. I think that this family needs to outline what they're doing for money and how they intend to stay long term. As a retiree it is fairly easy. If you have a job, it's only as good for as long as you have a job. For these people who don't look they old, I would say that security is their main problem......how long do they want to stay? How will they educate their kids What will they do for healthcare? - many Brits overlook this, as there is no POS in healthcare in UK. Also they need to realise that healthcare in Thailand is VERY hit and miss. I also think that if "saving money" is their main criteria they are going to fall short of how much they will like living in Thailand - society, food job hierarchy, transport, corruption etc etc it takes some getting used to and some never do.
  16. So it's a bit of a made up story or they haven't worked out the financial requirements for moving here Doesn't look like a retiree - so they will need to work. They also need to think about healthcare -
  17. Bit out of date - 30 years ago there was no-one to do the job - now there are plenty - many foreigners are running these schools illegally - again it poses a question of redress in the case of accident or refr=funds legal action etc.
  18. This all seems a non-event. Presumably they are sorting out their work permits and visas - are they wealthy? tht makes it easier - especially for special visas. In the end I'm not sure what the article is trying to imply. I t will interesting to see where they are in 10 years....
  19. THese people have kids entrusted to them - if there is an accident it is unlikely they will be insured. THey won't have a teaching licence or police check How are we to know if they are sex offenders or not?
  20. It's disgraceful. Firstly they are outside the law when looking after children. Secondly there is the wakeboard business. It's not just Russians, loads of Brits and of others just think the immigration laws don't apply to them (because they are white??) THese businesses have no legal right to operate and therefore if there are problems there is no way to get redress. THere should be a big clean up campaign - dive schools, gyms, schools tour guides etc etc all working outside the law.
  21. Won't it get a bit hot in their bunkers???
  22. why can't people identify crackpots anymore these days? Down to education I guess
  23. THai food like any other food from round the world is fine - the problem lies with those who consume it. You can spot them - they believe in fad diets and have no idea wht obesity is , what causes it and what the dangers are. This thread is an opportunity for every food crank and conspiracy thoeirist to put forward there nut job ideas.
