I had I 1990s Defender rom new in Oz, it was a heap. I changed to Landcruiser and my troubles evaporated. I once had a conversation with a guy who owned a sheep station about Landrover v Lañdçruiser. He pointed out that his house was over 50 miles from the nearest public highway and he needed a vehicle that he could rely on to make that distance ... so he HAD to have a Landcruiser.

About 60% of the MGB range and variants went to the States. However it Leylands almost total lack of marketing and R&D that brought about the demise of the brand in the 1980s and the company by the start of the next century. The fact that a Chinese company was able to buy the brand and turn it into a success underlines the lack of vision of the British motor industry.

More COVID cases in Surat Thani?
kwilco replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
It now seems the THAI authorities are dropping PCR testing and one night initial quarantining anyway. Just the thailand pass will be required. This undoubtedly will help restore visitor numbers. There will no doubt be a few who want want to holiday in a country with so many cases. If however the virus variates for the worse, then disaster would follow unless we have reached herd immunity levels. -
It's nothing to do with the cars themselves...its the idiot self sprinted critics. When Japanese bikes and cars cane along, everyone tried to say they were <deleted>....then Kirean, then Chinese ...it is precisely this attitude that brought about the downfall of both UK and US motirindyßtries.... bad management and crsp products totally outclassed by foreign "upstarts".

More COVID cases in Surat Thani?

Interesting that Koh Tao is not releasing figures. The nabobs on this island seem to be a law unto themselves. I'd like to know how many visitors to the island turn up rlsewhere with Covid. An overall view of Thailand shows the healthcare service is increasingly under stress due to hospital admissions for Covid. I'm sure many people are still very uncomfortable about visiting Thailand at all....least of all an island that isn't releasing their Covid figures. -

How many are being hospitalised, how is the situation re beds and people off work? Another matter for concern is the high numbers of infection and lead to variants. This could set the whole thi g back a year or more. Are the cases locals or foreigners or Thai visitors? Foreigners could potentially bring strains from all over the world. -
More COVID cases in Surat Thani?

Probably not. The national numbers are the highest ever. However if restrictions are coming to an end then knowing how many have been reported on Samui is not that necessary. I think what might be relevant is how these figures affect people...visitors residents and expats. I can't travel easy between Thailand and Kaos yet and don't want to pick up Covid in Thailand. It will spoil my trip and of course restrict my travelling. -

Only a few months back, people were saying it can't happen here....they seemed to think they were somehow immune. -
