China's Yuan to Replace the Dollar because of Trump!
Elkski replied to Yagoda's topic in Political Soapbox
And if we only knew how much insider trading has occurred. MBS probably made 4 billion for his 400 million plane gift. That trump is illegal accepting. His graft is as open as a baby sparrows mouth. He can't disappear soon enough. -
She is getting coached by friends or Facebook. It's a pride thing. Thai people have all heard how much some farangs pay to support a gf. 30 k isn't a real bragging amount either. We don't have many facts. Your age, salary, what's the probability you will want or can stay in Thailand a lifetime. Her living conditions, proximity to where you live. Have you talked about her moving in. Do you talk enough to know your her only guy. Maybe she doesn't feel your worth playing the long game. I feel they really feel pressured by friends and social media to see how much the man will support her. To a Thai, support is part of the love equation. Maybe it's the same for Western women but usually less obvious. Just remember there are 1000 others like her.

Why, Oh Why: has the Left turned on Elon? No more gravy-train?
Elkski replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in Political Soapbox
I was an Elon fan because of space x and also his boring machine ideas since I have a background and education in mining. I changed my opinions on how he handled the twitter purchase. He acted like a rich brash child. Then my administration turned to full contempt when I reinstated trump's acct. But blocked the smart kid who tracked his planes miliage. He has made twitter his personal platform and has outdid Murdock in the disinformation. Then cake his election support for trump, his election bribery, his Nazi salute, his support for the Nazi party in Germany. I had been following the government scrutiny of his self driving cars and exploding starships and it's obvious why he paid trump 230 million. So he can get rid of government oversite. He chose the wrong method using optics rather than lidar but won't admit it. Only thing we have in common now. -
Karoline Leavitt: The Young Firebrand Behind Trump’s Messaging Revival
Elkski replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Pretty sure she worked her way up with some knee and horizontal moves. Married at 26 to a real estate guy 33 yrs older. Where are all the maga haters in that? I know what position I would give her. -
Topless Dancing at Songkran Spurs Cultural Image Controversy
Elkski replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
It does get confusing. Over here in USA the GOP is trying to say your born a man or a woman. So if a man goes topless it's no big deal so does that include a man showing silicon. Would be an interesting court case. Now regarding Thailand I think if more Thai women adopted the old traditional topless dress it would help tourism. -
Thai Baht Plummets with US Tariff Blow: 34.50 per Dollar Test Looms

Interesting. Claim is trump used chatgp to calculate tariffs incorrectly. It's just a trade ratio. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/17dvR1d81w/ -
Thai Baht Plummets with US Tariff Blow: 34.50 per Dollar Test Looms
Elkski replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's been 36 in recent times. 34.8 is nothing. Let's see 43. If these countries retaliate with a madman it's going to get ugly. I hope the outcome is they decide the US is important and lower tariffs. I'm not an economist but if countries give in and lower their tariffs and these new tariffs are removed it seems like things would be better for the US. Not so much for each country. I can assure you I deplore trump but getting NATO countries to pay their commitments and countries to open more imports from the US seems good to me and I'm sure MAGA's. How can any sane person argue with a tariff chart being unfair when Trump is still less than their numbers? -
Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax
Elkski replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Plus trump needs the pay for his continuation of the tax cuts for his rich buddies. Interestingly tariffs accounted for 90% of the US federal Budget back 250 years ago before income tax. I'm pretty sure most Americans see the country list with the high tariffs in place on American imports and can't blame Trump for imposing much less on these countries. Trump does seem like he is supporting North and S America. Maybe he wants a strong land mass. Any investment South of the border should lower the influx of border crossings. I already feel some upward pressure in the labor market as I think many have left. No data on this just my feeling in seeking labor recently. -
Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax
Elkski replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why are some of these tariffs so high on American goods? Wouldnt totally free trade be the ultimate goal? Or do the richer countries need to support 3rd countries out of morality? Not much I can do but ride this derailed train wreck. I just don't 💬 think many companies are going to invest in production in the US partly because things can change again in 3 years and I don't think we have the hard workers willing to do factory type work. First thing wife said after seeing 36% on FB was about her imported rice and fish sauce. I also have not doubt the Asian stores and all retailers will be raising prices immediately in current inventory and even shipments already through customs. If we think retailers used COVID to profit here come unbridled greedy. -
Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax

I 💬 NK Trump's tactic will work. 3 more years of his crazy will have the economy And more so messed up who would want to run for president in 2026. I've always thought it crazy that Thailand had such high tariffs on cars and booze. Not sure why these were not addressed sooner. -
US Nurse Suffers Devastating Facial Injuries in Krabi Moped Crash
Elkski replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
I hate to always read the gofunde negative comments. It's your choice to donate or not. But her eye lid and chin were not there? Then put back on? That's what my mind focused on. Plus the pigeon thing. Passport missing? This is the Thailand the World needs to hear about. Picturing that and the post by SMike about 2 people he knows who are brain injured. I think I won't ever rent one again. I did rent 2 with a gal down south. I can't recall but I think in Samui. I recall the roads were in bad shape and some steep grades and side slope and undulating. I do have a motorcycle driver's license now. I do get travel insurance when I come to Thailand. It's usually only 3-5$/day. -
When are we going to go back to honor and the buck stops here. Did you see the hearing with Tulsi. All if them no we haven't read that security protocol. What worthless air breathers

From a picture I saw of a hiso condo building in Thonglor with a bulging corner spanning many floors there are going to be many condemned. All these guys bragging about how many rental condos the wife and them own might be be hurting. I don't see how you can fix fractured support beams and columns cheaply or timely. Will it be cheaper to raze the building? Do the owners have any say in that. Who pays for a demo? More construction dust and noise in bkk incoming. Labor and material shortage.

Deniers of bird flu. So some of you think a farmer or con ag should just let the barn with 10,000 egg layers infect the rest of his barns and nearby producers? They had to exterminate them just like they do pigs with swine flu. It has now taken 4-5 months to get more hens to begin laying eggs. It's stupid to blame any president on this disruption. Now if trump hadn't pissed off all our allies maybe some would have donated some eggs to help alleviate the pain some poor people felt. I bet most MAGA's spend 2x more on beers or white claws than eggs.

Earthquake Rocks Bangkok: Building Collapses with 40 people inside
Elkski replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand News
Wife says lots of Thai's are thinking corruption in the government building that collapsed. I'm wondering if an unfinished building may not have all the earth quake devices installed yet? The videos of those tall buildings seating is incredible. It will be interesting how many residences will be condemned. Maybe now Thailand will be forced to deal with real humanitarian issues. -
Earthquake Rocks Bangkok: Building Collapses with 40 people inside
Elkski replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand News
As I watched the thousands of people fleeing in the streets and all those tall buildings looming 360 degrees it's so wonderful that 1 didn't come down into the crowded streets. Looking like renting a condo is much better than buying. I wonder how many expats lost their accommodations? -
Thailand’s Restaurant Industry Hit Hard by Spending Slump
Elkski replied to Video News's topic in Video News and Updates
How do they track these food carts and stalls or even a small % of restaurants ? I'm sure most thaid in all occupations don't report a majority of their income. -
I live near a fault that they say is due. I could loose quite a bit of my wealth. Makes one consider renting rather than owning ones living quarters.

I wonder why that building under construction collapsed? So much less weight than finished and I thought the cement was the main structure? I wonder how many buildings will be condemned? And how did. cM fare being so much closer to the epicenter. Or was it the liquifaction zone of BKK that made it worse. I feel for those workers in the collapse.

50 Mil in deposit? I think it's crazy. Create these ultra exclusive places where the low paying can work and observe but only the super wealthy can enjoy. Pretty normal I guess. I can't imagine this being a good thing at all. Lots of tourists broke and can't afford their flight home. May create some new walking streets.

I think pigtails look sexy, fun and youthful. To bad wife won't do them. Asian hair can be thick like hogs hair or fine like silk.

I just don't understand the value in taxis. Most of us never use a taxi. I've taken maybe 6 ubers in my life to the airport. The only taxi I've ever taken in my life in the states was 1 or 2 during a weeks vacation in NYC. Oh and one family trip we took a taxi to from the airport in Florida . And. 1 way in Denver. -
Trump Tariff Turmoil: Thai Car Market Skids to a Halt
Elkski replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Oh I'm positive. Positive that in 2 and more so in 4 years even most MAGA's will be educated in economics and realize their votes for trump and all these spinless Republicans was a disaster.
