"In his speech, General Paiboon said, as a soldier, he regards the scourge of corruption as an evil, but admitted that he didn’t know how to deal with it, because it is very difficult to eliminate."
His bank accounts, and (hidden) assets, probably total a lot more than his soldier's salary !

"She said that the Prime Minister has reprimanded the officials concerned and, since that incident, both he and his delegates are served food in paper boxes or wrapped in banana leaves throughout the trip."
Pathetic.................... There are far more important issues to deal with, rather than a silly complaint like this.

I find it quite humorous that a sad emoji is posted about a post, when someone says they are happy living here.
Maybe, it's more about the person than the actual place they live, or a bit of jealousy that they cannot find contentment in a place. ????????????????

Are you serious? Have you ever been inside the cheapest government hospitals in Thailand? The equipment they have look like they bought it from a museum. The private hospitals have better equipment, better doctors and way better care. Why do you think common Thai people without insurances must go to the government hospital in their Amphoe? Do you think they can pick any hospital they want?
With a simple travel insurance from EU you can pick a good hospital. You are probably one of those who are so scared about a mandatory health insurance. You can always use it at a crappy government hospital.
As a lot of doctors practice in both, I fail to see how you think better better doctors are in Private hospitals.
As for better care, because doctors and nurses get a bigger salary, it doesn't make them a more caring person, quite possibly the opposite.

A friend of mine needed a hernia operation, after a consultation in our local Government hospital.
The doctor told him straight, you can get it done here, in about 5 weeks, total cost 40,000 baht.
However, he also advised him that he could perform to operation in a private hospital here, the following week, total cost 120,000 baht !
My friend waited the 5 weeks, had the successful operation done in the Government hospital, and says he won't use any other hospital here. He is certainly not poor, but couldn't see the sense in spending the inflated price for the same operation, especially as the same doctor would have done it.

Lol way off the mark....even back in 1992 there were four Iss Laguna, King Kong, Bullring and Blue Hawaii......by the time 1998 came around it was into double figures
Not forgetting Jimmy Macs, who opened in the late 80's, sold out to the Queen Vic, and opened a smaller bar, further down the soi, same name, for Nang's niece and husband to run. Sadly, Jimmy passed away nearly 20 years ago, but the bar is still there.

Having a young beautiful Thai woman telling me that I was handsome and treating me like I had never been treated before by a woman had a lot to do with how great I was feeling in Thailand.
Or even, how gullible you are ?

Also, many people going there are expressing how easy tourist visas etc. are to get.
That was the same in Thailand not that long ago. It was so easy to go from anywhere in N.E. Thailand to Vientianne and get a visa year after year, but the Thais saw what was happening, and put a stop to it.
What happens when the Viet Government clamps down ? What is plan C ?

When I went to school, double was not 400%.
Still a lot cheaper than rip off private hospitals.

That's why he drinks at home.
And that's what he wrote in the post.
By the sounds of it, he can't afford to drink at home either.
Sometimes in life, you have to make a few sacrifices.

Went there for a holiday a few years back, enjoyed it, but I will leave it as a holiday destination.
Didnt see in my time there, anything that would make me choose to live there over Thailand.

"He stressed, however, that the best way to protect the party from dissolution is to work creatively to persuade the people to accept that Thailand needs a party like Future Forward."
It does now appear that the people accept Thailand needs a party like Future Forward.
However, they have no say in in the decision of the Constitutional Court, or other independent organisations, regarding dissolution of FF, and the people who do have a say, might well be influenced by more powerful people, in order to stop their progress.

Wow, this political scientist has a completely different definition of charisma than I do !
I certainly don't think bribing opposition weaklings to defect from the opposition is very charismatic, but, rather, a desperate measure taken, in order to retain power.
The above picture sums Prawit up too, a false smile, with all his hangers on posterior licking.
It would be great to see that smile disappear, but, hopefully, we don't have to wait 2 years for it.

Back in the UK after 10 years in Thailand

I have been twice over the past 2 years to Government Hospitals here, and, yes, they did give me an x-ray, to make sure there were no jagged edges (as your great NHS hospital should have done), and with the x-ray, consultation and Tramadol painkillers, it was just over 500 baht.
No hospital puts a caste/bandage on for bruised/cracked ribs in this day and age, and to suggest 5-30,000 baht here is luducrous !
