  1. Interesting how they are so keen to paint something as "irregular", after just saying that it is fairly common.
  2. I prefer bilge-rat or knave, but as pirate insults go, I guess it works for Thailand.
  3. Take a look at intermittent fasting and weight training. Maybe kettle bells given the restrictions around gyms at the moment.
  4. "Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others."
  5. I meant the prostitutes. Depends on the customer. I think it would be easier in Thailand due to multiple reasons, mainly cultural. If you have sex once perhaps. If you have a girl every night for a couple of weeks, it will quickly become far cheaper in Thailand.
  6. I'm no expert, as I haven't used a proustite in any country, but I can't help feeling that it would be nicer, easier and more affordable to use one in Thailand. Just a hunch.
  7. Life's simple pleasures. A walk on the beach and hookers in his hotel room.
  8. If Pattaya is opened enough to actually attract tourists (booze, clubs, prostitutes, all allowed with zero social distancing), it will have huge numbers of covid. Vaccinate all, accept covid and have zero restrictions, or don't bother opening.
  9. I guess it's the old "a Thai person wouldn't do that". They might also have been told by people the people getting the loan and the staff "don't worry, you don't have to pay". The whole "Thai supremacy" thing has its drawbacks.
  10. Aren't there many bonafide Thai massage places around the world? How does one know which one is a scam?
  11. Sadly, even in relatively educated and progressive societies, many parents actually don't believe that what they do affects how their child develops.
  12. Very sad and a hard lesson to learn. Never go guarantor on anyone else's loan, ever. Legally you're agreeing that if they cannot (or simply don't want to) pay back the loan, you will pay it back for them. It seems quite common that people default also. Cruel that someone's childhood friend would do this to them. I wonder if selling the actual vehicle to recoup some of the loss is a possibility.
  13. There was a post a while ago claiming that people who had got a volunteer visa through an agent were having difficulty going through the COE requirements, even with a reentry permit, due to the authorities asking for additional information regarding the volunteering. Not sure how true that was, or if it will be the case in the future, but you might want to have a quick search.
  14. An interesting and challenging idea. The things is, if you have the precepts of Buddhism on one hand and the ideas of the younger generation on the other, should they be in conflict, then you really have to make a choice. Either force the young people to act more in line with the precepts, or abandon them. If you're a monk and your business is Buddhism, you have to follow the rules, or the blessings and merits won't work. Then you cannot claim the right to not have to work.
  15. (Un)happiness is subjective, but it isn't relative. If it was a relative term, it would always need to be discussed in comparison to something else. You can, of course, discuss happiness relatively, as you can most things.
  16. Freudian slip there? I assume they meant amongst. Or they mean that they want to make Thais hate and fear foreigners even more?
  17. Why not apply everywhere that deals only in appointments and see what you can get. There might be one available soon. You won't know if you don't try. You can always say no.
  18. If you're worrying about this then there's no point in opening up. Need to concentrate on vaccination and learn to live with covid. No restrictions and treat it like the flu, or there won't be any tourists, or at least only nature overs. No one is going to come if they are treated like a leper while they are here (a leper people want to price gouge), with the constant threat of being incarcerated at your expense.
  19. How does he know he can trust her? She might have another Dad on the side. You have to be really careful in Thailand.
  20. Perhaps you just met some really bitter and negative people who shared their opinions with you. Actually, just noticed another post by you in this thread where you complain about over-educated people. Is there a chance that perhaps anyone less educated than you is bad, while anyone more educated than you is bad also? Perhaps you might want to look for the factor common to both these judgments.
  21. Try to be polite, but absolutely say no. Way too high a risk. If his business goes under then you lose your house. That's not a gamble I think anyone should take. It's risky even for your own business.
