  1. It's called "negging". You look into her mouth with an expression of "What the <deleted> is that thing? Ew!" Then you maybe waft the air a little like her breath smells. This makes her feel insecure, so when she stops talking you say "It's really clever of you to figure that out all by yourself." Because of the negging, this complement will make her want you.
  2. No projection, just cold hard accurate observation. I know how this user responds and what I have said is in no way speculation. I've clearly pointed out and explained what I am talking about. If you don't understand, I'm not sure I can make it much clearer.
  3. That guys a complete fruit cake. Clearly racists against non-Thais, particularly Whites. I think he's British but non-White. Anything negative about Thailand or Thai people and the toys go straight out of the pram. "This happens in Western countries as well!" "You're racist, that's why you're saying this!" "Why is this news being shared?!!" You name it, he'll try and use it to defend Thailand from any criticism or negativity, no matter how true or mundane. He even defended and justified a foreigner being attacked for not buying a Thai a beer. I'm genuinely surprised that he can effectively say "I don't like racists" while clearly being extremely racist.
  4. When is it going to be after covid though? When are they due back?
  5. They killed the golden goose and now they're just standing over the corpse wondering why the golden eggs have stopped appearing. Thailand got way too used to the extra tourist money; allowing skimming off the top and keeping people happy through subsidisation. Once covid hit, they really needed to realise what is happening and change their tactics. Seemingly overnight, the money they skimmed was suddenly most of the money and the subsidies dried up. If tourism got back to pre-covid levels overnight, then maybe things would be OK. But that isn't happening.
  6. A million baht and hopefully more to come. I just hope she has enough people around her looking out for her that it doesn't get stolen. Should be enough to get through uni, get herself a decent job, and change her and her Grandfather's life in the short-term as well.
  7. Are there any real monks in Thailand? Fags, booze, drugs, smartphones, none of this is compatible with Monkhood.
  8. Thai people definitely have an issue around expressing emotions. They appear completely fearless when it comes to things like singing or dancing, but other things, that would seem everyday for us, terrify them. Also, there's the "relationships are more like a business agreement than about love and feelings" angle. They're probably griping about exes because they made them lose face or they are resentful, therefore no real shame in complaining.
  9. Why do you need to change the circumstances so drastically? Surely "Would people donate as much if everything was the same except for the gender?" would be a more honest question?
  10. What a great bunch of foreigners, doing something so incredibly kind and helpful for this needy Thai person. ????????
  11. You like to ignore any reality where you are wrong? At least your consistent in your cognitive dissonance.
  12. I'll echo what another user said, I think the most likely explanation is that they wanted to encourage others to donate. Possibly they want to feel like they are "part of something". I'm aware that there are no real selfless acts, as everything people do is motivated by "feeling good", but even if it was the case that the users posted their donations to show off, who really cares if it means a load of free money to a worthy cause? Do you think she would return the money if she found out that some foreigners on an online forum were "boasting" about their donations?
  13. Was that observation correct? No. It was quite different from what was actually "said". It's interesting to think about why your observation was so far from the truth, isn't it?
  14. I wonder why you perceive what people have done as them being full of themselves and their posts as being self-congratulatory. (Actually, I don't.) I realise you are very much of the mindset "Thai good - foreigner bad", but you could give it a rest where some foreign people are doing something nice for a Thai person in need. Even if we were to pretend that you are correct, and the users that posted saying that they donated money did so out of vanity and the desire to show off, a very deserving person has received some free money to help her change her life for the better. I see nothing but positives all round, but you choose to look for negatives.
  15. He's literally just pointing out that some foreigners on this thread have been generous and he perceived that as being a good thing. You might want to think about why that upsets you and why you need to pretend that he's saying that "all the donations came from foreigners" so that you can find a reason to attack what he is saying.
  16. Just to confirm, these plans were made by someone's call for Prayut to be caretaker PM? That sounds interesting. I thought only humans and some animals could make plans.
  17. No scamming in Thailand? No overcharging in Thailand? No "you pay now if you want to leave" in Thailand? I'm very pleased that you have enjoyed your visits to Thailand and never witnessed these things first hand, but do you assume that the countless people that report such things are just lying about Thailand? What about when it's in a news story or on camera? A grand conspiracy? Crisis actors?
  18. Perhaps you didn't understand the comment. What they meant was that normally it is foreigners being scammed and overcharged in Thailand, but now it's Thais being scammed and overcharged in South Korea.
  19. "Give us democracy, give us more money, and pay to subsidise everything we buy!" I feel like they can't have all of those... Well, not until tourism gets back to what it was pre-covid.
  20. Even the government subsidising petrol and consumer products?
  21. We really need an eye rolling reaction button. ????
  22. This all comes from the backlash to George Floyd by anarchist movements.
  23. Exactly. They're trying to look at their phones. Leave them in peace.
