  1. Exactly, right now it is okay but other times the page will time out and not open. It is the only application that does this, i can stream a movie without issue but AN is intermittently problematic.
  2. Yeah I saw this before, would have preferred to see more range by keeping the 82.5 kw battery but in blade 2 form. Using a higher density ( blade 2 ) but then reducing the size ( 82.5 to 69 kw ) and ending up with around the same range doesn’t make sense to me. The higher charging rate is welcome but only if we see new high speed chargers appearing, currently I can get 150 kWh from a Spark 180 kw charger, albeit for a short time. With all these stories of the minor updated Seal, Seal 07 and Seal 08 will have to wait to see what actually, if an, becomes available here.
  3. Pretty sure you understood what i meant.
  4. I do remote start the air conditioning on my Seal quite often and about a year ago, after a car or app update it would only start the air and not the car itself. I took this to be some sort of safety measure, albeit without any info on reason, or just a glitch, wasn’t sure. Later on I learned that by starting air remotely then opening the seat ventilation via the app also the car would also start ( lights flash and wing mirrors pop out as had done originally ). I figured it was unnecessary to start the car but recently have learned ( haven’t actually checked it ) that if you start the car as well as air conditioning via app then the front vents will open to improve air flow and accelerate the air conditioning/circulation. I have recently started enabling the seat ventilation after remotely starting air con via the app but if it does actually improve air con performance i couldn’t say. All in all it is a strange situation and the app needs some reconfiguration to make people aware of this action or add a tip message. Just opening the front vents upon starting the air conditioning remotely would make life simpler and in theory improve air conditioning performance without having the motor running/lights flashing/wing mirrors popping out unnecessarily.
  5. Not for me, try one of the many proxies.
  6. Surprised there isn’t any body changes, other than new wheels, there’s usually some grille or rear spoiler change even with a minor update, this is more of a major upgrade. The colours will be interesting also, a new colour instantly highlights the “ hey look at me, I have a new car “ statement. I did like the green colour the current Atto comes in, the blue being my least favourite, ironically it looks like there is a new deep blue colour ( even more ironically my current Space Grey car is predominantly blue !! ). Not sure what colours are available for the current Atto 3 never mind the new version, as is with the prices they seem to change often. Didn’t they drop the blue and the red when the black version came out ? A new Obsidian Black ( apparently more of a metallic colour ) has been launched on the UK minor update Seal, that would be interesting to see in the flesh, normal black is on my no go list !. By the way i am not in the market for a new car but as you can tell……. will power is definitely lacking 😞
  7. So here’s a video about the new Atto 3 , will it come to Thailand ??, i suspect it will. But then again what do i know ( no answers please ! ). The video is U.K. based and annoyingly makes many comparisons with 2 EV not available here but does highlight the changes from the previous Atto 3. https://youtu.be/SNIupgb6mh8?si=dq83jaPOYOimE2pk For those who can’t spare 14 minutes here are the main points. Major changes are: Larger battery ( 75 kw ) More HP AWD version available RWD on the single motor version. ( HP and 0-100 now similar to Seal/Sealion 7 territory ). Faster charging ( 220 kWh ). 50 litres more rear storage and a healthy frunk (101 litres ). Suspension has been improved to stop the bounce at speed somewhat. Many other smaller changes: 1 wireless charger with cooling , but unless it is 50W not really useful ( turned my 2 x 15W wireless chargers off on my Seal long ago ). Gear changes on steering stalk leaving a very clean looking centre console. Guitar strings still in evidence but now in black. Door pull inside now a more standard design. Rear seat angle now adjustable albeit slightly . Bigger instrument cluster, albeit still quite small . Of course specs might differ on Thai models, if it comes, will all colours be available ?? , will there be 2 or 3 versions ?? etc But it would be a major attraction if launched at the upcoming Motor Show. One to consider ?, definitely !, but as always will depend on price !!
  8. According to your info $50 to $150 USD ? It runs Windows 10 very comfortably, is not eligible for Windows 11 upgrade but i understand there are ways around that. Not necessary to install Linux. What happened in 2014 ? As I already stated will donate to my step kids who are at Uni and Vocational College, am pretty sure they will make use of it, I will upgrade the ssd beforehand and have already fit a new battery this week as i already said, did you read the op ?. The idea of replacing the seal is to improve it aesthetically, otherwise it is perfect.
  9. On a slightly different note, has anyone noticed Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut chocolate disappear from the shelves in their area ? Certainly has where i live. Ordered some from Shopee the other day, came from the South ( Yala and Narathiwat ).
  10. I think that is the general case, specialist for root canal work. My dentist did all the preparation, the specialist did the root canal procedure then regular dentist did the crown.
  11. So, to correct myself, the 13.3” LCD screen sits inside the black bezel and behind some “ touch “ glass enabling the appearance of one piece. The elusive rubber seal ( of which i seek ! ) prevents moisture from entering behind and between the glass panel and screen itself . A somewhat unusual design but at the time was competing with MacBook Air 13 and Dell XPS 13 to produce the thinnest 13” laptop, which it did for a brief period !
  12. So what is unusual about this laptop is the black border with the ASUS logo and camera is all part of the screen. There is a 2 mm ( ? ) gap around the top and 2 sides and slightly larger at the bottom where it meets the hinge. You can see where the rubber seal has cracked and fallen out in this photo. I watched many YouTube videos about ASUS screen replacement and all ( even ones with the same UX305CA number ) showed a frame holding the screen in place . All screens had square corners, mine has rounded corners and that is what makes it unique. It is a touch screen so wonder if that is why is different to the rest. I picked out a piece of the cracked “ seal “ and it appears to have a profile, see photo of it stood upright. So am assuming it has a rubber seal round the screen sealing the gap between screen and lid. Will continue to search for this “ seal “ or indeed the touchscreen to see if a replacement “ seal “ exists.
  13. Yup that’s the one, it is a thing of beauty. A small seal ( not sure of the exact material but it is definitely rubbery ) between the screen and the lid as shown in the above photos. Have no idea how far it protrudes under the screen and cannot find any information about it as a spare part, maybe it only comes with the screen ? Anyway, have already given up on finding a replacement, either original or generic, but wondered if anyone had resolved a similar deteriorated seal problem at any of the numerous IT shops in those large malls in North Bangkok ( Fortune Town, Pantip Plaza, MBK etc )
  14. Yeah, it has been left for a long time unused, I returned my company laptop when i retired and bought this one to replace it, handy for documentation and personal information/photos etc but not used on a daily basis as my other one was. Have taken to putting a small cloth over the keyboard to prevent the screen seal from sticking to the base when closed and further breaking it down which helps. No sign of any vinegar smell, suspect it was some product i used or just leaving it closed for extended periods. Not sure how the screen is held in place but don’t fancy removing the seal completely ( without a replacement ) as am pretty sure it will fall apart completely. Have considered silicone, have plenty of experience in my work life and will probably go this route eventually, maybe a test on a small area first. Would need to remove some of the existing cracked seal to make a half decent job of it though.
  15. So, am I vastly overestimating the resourcefulness of repair shops here ? Would they be able to use a generic 13.3” seal or risk damaging beyond repair ? Will it require an official ASUS spare part and ASUS Service Center ( which would probably be expensive and not worthwhile for a 10 year old laptop ) ? Any suggestions to salvage this laptop and prevent the seal around the screen from disintegrating further ?? The screen is difficult to clean now as the breaking down of the seal leaves sticky rubber substance residue, I probably caused this issue by trying to clean the screen years ago with an overly aggressive cleaning solution. Anyway, any suggestions ( other than “ bin it “ ) welcome.
  16. So, as the title suggests I have a laptop ( ASUS UX305CA ) and the seal around the screen has disintegrated. It is an older model, 10 years, but is a lovely slimline model which I bought upon retirement and has served me well, albeit has had little use. Am thinking to donate to one of my step kids ( 21 and 18 ) who will no doubt make better use of it than i did. Have replaced the battery this week and now would like to get the screen seal sorted. Does anyone know of any place, preferably in Northern Bangkok, that is reputable and reliable enough to tackle this, any particular store in MBK or the like ? No doubt a simple job for many of the multitude of vendors there but i would prefer a recommendation if possible. TIA
  17. For those unable, or unwilling to, to open the link here is the news: Upcoming Changes to your Wise Account in Thailand At Wise, we’re always working to deliver better, more localised experiences for our customers. As part of this commitment, customers in Thailand will soon be served by Wise’s local Thailand entity which will be fully licensed and regulated by the Bank of Thailand. These changes will come into effect on or after 19 May 2026. In line with these changes, we'll be introducing some exciting new features for our customers in Thailand. At the same time, certain restrictions and changes will apply to how Wise’s services can be used moving forward. New features being introduced Product Details Wise Transfers Send THB overseas: You'll be able to send THB abroad using Wise from your local Thai bank account or from the THB balance in your Wise account. As always, you'll enjoy mid-market exchange rates (the same rates you see on Google) with no hidden fees. Wise Account Adding money to your Wise account: You'll be able to add money to your Wise Account using a local Thai bank account. Once added, you can convert and hold that amount in over 40 currencies. PromptPay payments Local payments via PromptPay: You'll be able transfer money from your Wise account to any PromptPay ID (mobile number or Citizen ID). You'll also be able to receive payments via PromptPay, using your e-wallet ID or PromptPay QR . Scan-and-pay using PromptpayQR / ThaiQR Scan-and-pay using PromptPay QR codes: You'll be able to scan-and-pay both individuals and businesses using PromptPay QR / ThaiQR codes. This will make it easier for you to pay for purchases at smaller stores that don’t accept credit / debit cards. Wise Card Order digital and physical Wise cards: You'll be able to order a physical Wise card that will be delivered to your doorstep in Thailand, as well as digital cards that can be used for online payments. With a Wise card, you can spend online, in-store and abroad without hidden fees or inflated exchange rates. Upcoming changes and restrictionsThe following restrictions and changes will come into effect on or after 19 May 2026. What's changing Example of what is no longer supported Alternative solutions Transfers between non-Thai bank accounts: You'll no longer be able to use Wise to transfer money between two overseas bank accounts outside of Thailand. For example, you won't be able to use Wise to transfer money from a US bank account (USD) to a Singapore bank account (SGD). You can use Wise to transfer money from your US bank account (USD) to your Wise Account THB balance. You can then transfer money from your Wise Account THB balance to a Singapore bank account (SGD). This will involve two currency conversions: USD to THB, then THB to SGD. Currency conversion fees will apply. Sending money overseas in non-THB currencies: You'll no longer be able to send non-THB currencies from your Wise account (e.g. USD, GBP) to an overseas bank account. For example, you won’t be able to send USD from your Wise Account to a bank account in the US. Similarly, you won’t be able to send GBP from your Wise Account to a bank account in the UK. You can convert the USD in your Wise Account to THB first, and then remit that THB amount to an overseas bank account in the US. This will involve two currency conversions: USD to THB, then THB to USD. Currency conversion fees will apply. Receiving payments in non-THB currencies: If you receive payments in currencies other than THB, we'll automatically convert the amount to THB and add it to the THB balance in your Wise Account. Relevant currency conversion fees will apply. This includes non-THB payments received from other Wise users or using account details (e.g. USD account details). For example, if you receive a 1000 USD payment from a Wise user based in the US, we'll automatically convert the 1000 USD to THB at prevailing mid-market exchange rates, and deduct any relevant currency conversion fees. The remaining THB will then be deposited into your Wise Account THB balance. Similarly, if you receive a 500 EUR payment using your EUR account details, we'll automatically convert the 500 EUR to THB at prevailing mid-market exchange rates, and deduct any relevant currency conversion fees. The remaining THB will then be deposited into your Wise Account THB balance. You can still receive payments from overseas Wise users, or using foreign currency account details. The only difference is you'll no longer be able to hold that payment as foreign currency in your Wise account. The payment will be automatically converted to THB. Currency conversion fees will apply. Cash withdrawals at ATMs in Thailand: You won’t be able to use your Wise card to withdraw cash from ATMs in Thailand. However, you can still use your Wise card to withdraw cash from ATMs abroad. For example, if you order a Wise card in Thailand, you won't be able to use it to withdraw cash from ATMs located in Thailand. Instead of withdrawing cash locally, you can use the scan-and-pay feature in your Wise app to pay individuals and businesses via PromptPay QR. From now until May 2026, there will be no changes to your Wise account, and you can continue using it as usual. In April, we’ll email you to request some additional verification documents, in line with the Bank of Thailand’s regulatory requirements. We’ll share clear instructions and more details regarding this at a later date. If you're no longer residing in Thailand, please ensure that your address in Wise is updated to reflect your current country of residence. Find out more on how to update your address here. We’re excited about what’s coming and are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our customers in Thailand. We’ll continue to keep you updated every step of the way.
  18. In days past they would recycle our photocopies by using them for receipts for 90 days. I have had several receipts with some random foreigners passport details on the back. Thankfully that doesn’t appear to happen anymore. I suspect they are now using the mountain of paperwork for landfill on the southern bound highway in Bangkok at the rate the flyovers are dropping ??
  19. Good to see a house build topic, i will follow along with interest. While I did have a house built in the mid 90’s ( not in Thailand ) i do at times regret not doing another when i landed here 10 years ago. Of course the highs and lows of overseeing a house build can range from euphoria to depression but i wish you all the best and hope that the end result is to your satisfaction. Hopefully others will join the topic to add some advice as these topics, imho, are infrequent nowadays.
  20. Of course going against the grain is not necessarily a bad thing ! In the case of the OA mandatory insurance many owners of OA visas and extensions elsewhere were jealous that Phuket immigration were refusing to adhere to the ridiculous ruling that only OA visa holders pay the insurance premiums. Likewise with the 12 months statement, Phuket immigration are facilitating an easier route for the same process, i only wish other IO’s would follow their lead.
  21. Yeah, it’s kinda disappointing when the car you think is the best thing since sliced bread falls to make the impact you thought it would. It appears to be selling well still in the U.K. ( although I can’t find individual car sales BYD sold very well last year) even with the introduction of the Sealion 7. Had more OTA’s than we got here and now the new minor update announcement. But, here in the land of pickups and motorcycles EV’s are still managing to expand at a great rate. Lower prices and a good charging infrastructure certainly help here. We might think 10 baht per kw outrageous but over in the uk they pay anything up to 35 baht a kw for DC charging. Watched a YouTube video from Dave ( of Dave takes it on fame ) where a new charging hub in the U.K. were charging £1.80 ( that is 75 baht !! ) a kw …… now that is outrageous !!
  22. I guess that is the big question The Seal’s sales took a nosedive in mid 2025 and dealers started offering the Activity cars ( Test drive and publicity cars, usually 2023 models ) at a healthy discount. Reported lack of stock all pointed to a clear out to either make way for the rapidly rising Sealion 7 or an updated Seal, a MY 2025 version started to appear in some countries ( Malaysia and Aus ? ) with new wheels and an electric sunshade amongst other small upgrades. Then towards the end of 2025 Thailand Seal sales started to increase again but probably received stock from countries getting the MY 2025 updated models. Currently I think stock of Seals in Thailand is almost diminished with only a few of the cheaper model Dynamic remaining in dealers showrooms and being pushed on FB pages. The Seal in its current Thailand variant is unlikely to reappear and i also think any upgraded model, as being offered to the U.K., is also unlikely to head this way, Thailand has cut its ties with the Seal and if a minor update had been on the cards it would have been filtered in gradually. BYD is focusing on the future and the Seal, as exciting as it was ( and still is) when first released hesitated at the fence and lost momentum here. Lovers of a BYD sporty saloon might be surprised with a Sealion 9 or 10 who knows ? there is always IM 5 or 7X GT to tempt. The EV world is moving at such a fast rate now that it makes you cautious to sign up when something faster, cheaper, rangier (?) and more exciting might be just round the corner. Never been a “ speed freak “ and at touching 65 am looking more towards comfort than blistering acceleration but the Seal showed me what is available for my budget and i LIKED it ! The Seal is dead …… Long live the Seal 🦭
  23. https://bydukmedia.com/en/news-articles/byd-launches-new-model-year-2026-seal-saloon-more-practicality,-increased-customisation-and-greater-specification.html?fbclid=IwZnRzaAQEGCpleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEef4acle0vw1TfKgTwkMkuVD5n1QqoG8GmVRibneB2joanyHmrMJNajZEtd5U_aem_zyAltwv3iM216X13A9ie7Q BYD Seal to get a minor update in May 2026 to their existing 2x U.K. models, a couple of new colours ( Red, Lavender ) and a different shade of Black. New 19” rims and a small increase in frunk size. A healthy increase in boot space ( 400 to 485 ltrs ) and a couple of aesthetic changes but main specs remain the same. Of course whether the Seal will be resurrected here in Thailand remains to be seen but i suspect not.
  24. The way I understood it ( not sure if some bank official told me this or I read it on here ) bank statements had to be printed on a dot-matrix printer where all pages are joined ( serrated ) and the sides ( with the holes for driving the continuous paper are left on). Normal Bangkok Banks don’t usually have these types of printers hence the necessity to order from head office and that immigration would not accept self printed bank statements or individual pages from the local branch. Of course this may be old news or a variance on the requirements due to location or not applicable anymore but it does sort of explain why Bangkok Bank would only supply a physical 12 month statement, usually available in 3 working days, from their head office and not just print one out on the spot ! Or maybe Phuket Immigration are going against the grain and making up their own rules as they did with the OA visa mandatory insurance ?
