I installed non reflective black out curtains in my bedroom about 3 years ago and they do the trick (for black out purposes), got one south west facing window and with the AC stays comfy for an afternoon nap, the other windows face northeast and get oblique morning exposure about this time of year...lazada useta have a good selection and not expensive...installed with curtain hooks from tescos on existing curtain rails...
EDIT: just reread your post.
Do you have just one blackout curtain or did you add to existing ??

I first came here on a O-A retirement from my own country.
After one year I crossed into Cambodia and came back into Thailand. At the end of that second year I went to immigration and got an extension to that visa.
I have been on extensions since then.
I am doing extensions now. It is no longer a visa

Same for me and no doubt many others .
The danger is our respective IO’s might have other ideas and cause grief . -

If the non return/check valve has failed or is stuck open due to dirt then maybe the weight of the water in the tank causes enough pressure to overcome the p1ss poor city pressure causing the water to go back through the pump and causes cycling ??
I don’t know, just a guess as I had a similar issue which corrected itself after I had drained the pump and tank. -
I know TiT but it makes no sense to insist on medical insurance to get the initial visa then drop the requirement once you're actually settled here
Yes, I agree, plus as 2 years can be gotten from an OA, how would they monitor the OA holder has cover for the second year.
Someone who gets repeat OA’s would have to pay on and off years !!
Makes no sense at all !! -

didnt the guy in phuket say it applied to "renewals"? he may have meant extensions
Yes, it’s still a very grey area IMO.
I am routing for it only to apply to new OA applications for 2 reasons :
a) I am on a retirement extension
b) the “ I told you so “ posts from Marcus would be unbearable !!-

If you are on an Extension of Stay based on retirement it won't affect you, as currently they are only talking about OA visas, and OX visas which have had the insurance requirement for some time.

Unfortunately Huckenfell gets a new OA from OZ every 2 years so without a doubt is affected by this new rule.
Of course he can get an extension by depositing or transfers to a Thai bank account, which I presume he has been avoiding, hence getting a new OA.
The loophole which the OA provided has been sussed !!
Options now are, pay the mandatory health insurance ( if possible ) or extend and deal with the financial requirements.
I don’t believe mandatory health insurance is required for extensions............yet !!-

Now that they have produced these figures for O-A retirement visas, how about how many tourists under 50 that owe money to hospitals as there is no requirement for tourists to have health insurance. These would be more likely to check out and skip the country than long term resident retired ex-pats.
Actually the 38 million turned out to be visitors 2018 and the number of OA visa holders is, apparently, 80,950 for 2018.
But, who knows what the actual figures are !!
A breakdown of these people who owe money to the hospitals would be very interesting !!
Most likely tourists falling off their mc’s and foreigners from nearby Asian countries make up the majority !!-

My last pretty song. After this it's time to rock.
As much as i like EJ there was a certain point where I found his songs became just too commercial ( ignoring Crocodile Rock and the Christmas songs etc , i mean , he had to earn his bread and butter ! ) and i lost interest, loved his early stuff with a passion though !!
Here’s one that I remember DLT ( the hairy cornflake ) playing 3 times in a row on Radio 1 when it was released.
It sounds as good today as it did then. -
A pretty song from Elton from, IMHO, one of his greatest albums.
