Some advice needed to get a Type O visa
Andrew Dwyer replied to localexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The op @localexpat, needs to return here to explain what he means by this : ” I need to re-apply for my Retirement Visa. I am in Thailand now and believe I need to leave Thailand to get a Type O visa “ Reading between the lines I would guess that the op had a previous O visa based on retirement ( a retirement visa doesn’t exist ), and possibly extensions also. That visa/extension has expired and he now has returned to Thailand, visa exempt or tourist visa and would like to apply for a new O visa, in both instances can be done without leaving the country. Some clarification from the op will help others to assist. -

Not to be outdone, here’s my “ arra’s “ . The set on the right travelled with me for many years and saw a little action in some US bars. The set on the left were rescued from my dad’s house clearance a few years ago and although had seen some action in the dining room ( not a typical dining scene in our household, I believe we had a foreigner visiter that day and mum wanted to impress ) were resting from their tough life in the tap room of The Angel, Baildon in the late 70’s.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
Andrew Dwyer replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
The plot sounds a little like The Staircase (2022): Colin Firth stars as Michael Peterson in this true story. Michael, successful crime writer and budding politician, calls 911 claiming his wife had fallen down the stairs and is now not breathing. But when the police arrive the scene tells another story. Dragged a little in the middle with the French film connection but otherwise very good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11324406/ Alternatively , a documentary series with the real people. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388644/ As viewed by French film makers. -
I did read that there are 3 regen settings for the Haval cars but not sure if those option settings are available in One Pedal mode.

Changing to Non IMM O from OA

Apply for the O visa at the immigration office where you are living, if you are staying in Bangkok then that will be Chaeng Wattana. -
The lack of English language on the Sat Nav is a bit of a set back , although wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be used to run Google maps from the phone on the info screen. Presumably this is true of the H6 and Jolion HEV’s also ? Somewhat surprised as these cars , or similar versions of them, have been available in Australia for some time, I’m guessing that only one language is available. Presumably @Gweiloman , it’s only the Sat Nav that doesn’t support English and the system itself can be changed to English ?

Thanks @Gweiloman I swore I would never have another black car after a Ford Orion in the early 80’s, but I did buy a black Citroen in the late 90’s , they are the best looking colour but never again . Most of your complaints are common to the H6/Jolion range especially the lack of buttons to change stuff quickly requiring navigation on the screen while driving, changing air conn settings etc. Short seat bottom with no tilt Settings not being saved and cannot be adjusted on the move. Mud flaps aren’t common here but pretty sure I’ve seen them available on Shopee. The adaptive cruise control braking on bends and one pedal lack of brake light also frequently mentioned. So many safety features ( ADAS, WDS etc ) but a lot of them are overly intrusive and not suitable for Thai war zone driving experience. The MG and GWM seems like a very similar system with speech control and the app etc, on MG can use English for sat Nav and the whole system, only the voice control is in Thai. That’s a big disadvantage for you I guess, on my MG I had to go into sat Nav settings to eliminate a lot of unnecessary warnings bells, but it does save my saved and favourite places. I guess a manual in English is out of the question. Still my favourite at the moment despite these issues and still kinda hoping for a Jolion PHEV in the near future. Enjoy your ride .

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Thanks for the report @Gweiloman , was wondering if you had taken charge of the H6 PHEV yet ( hopefully you can update us with a report on the car at a later date ). I’ll leave comments on your woes to the more learned posters. -
Changing to Non IMM O from OA
Andrew Dwyer replied to farangkrab's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you return visa exempt you will receive 45 days, when you still have more than 15 days remaining visit immigration to apply for an O visa ( valid for 90 days). You will need 800k in a Thai bank on the day you apply. If successful you will be asked to return around 15 days later ( possibly even the last day of your visa exempt stay ) to receive your O visa stamp . With around 30 days of your O visa remaining return to immigration to apply for an extension based on retirement (?), normal requirements will be requested similar to your OA extensions only no insurance necessary. Immigration may possibly request a home visit when you apply for the O visa . -
Famous English Singer Sam Smith visits Samui Island

He sang the theme song to the Bond movie Spectre and generally accepted as a great singer. All this them/their/they BS is confusing, distracts from his abilities and only creates ridicule. -
Changing to Non IMM O from OA

@flexomike covered all the info you require, I did this process in Sept this year: Left Thailand without a re-entry permit therefore killing my OA retirement extension. Returned visa exempt (30 days ). Applied for an O visa after a few days . Applied for extension based on retirement. No insurance requirement. As @DrJack54 says; my funds have been in the bank for several years so no requirement to prove came from o/s ( this probably varies with location ). -
Hope you got your wife a nice cup for Christmas, like this one from the University of Northern Thailand .

I think the answer to my initial question is: None of those, but possibly c) ???? Entering on a visa exempt, obtaining an extension to that and applying for an O visa ………. none of these allow a stay of more than 90 days and therefore do not trigger the 90 days countdown , MORE being the key word ( although some IO’s might start the 90 day clock on applying for an O visa….. hence my c) comment above.) I indeed entered on Sept 2nd and my first 90 day report is due Feb 18th some 170 days since i entered Thailand but 90 days since i applied for retirement extension from the O visa ( Nov 21st ).
