Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Andrew Dwyer replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Well the Honda HR-V EV seems like a very good price , roughly a 100k cheaper than the HEV ? But according to this report from: autolifethailand.tv the price in Thailand might be more . -

Agree, i too am grateful to be able to use this forum for free , and all the laughs, information and anger that goes with it ????. The static ads are accepted as we all realise how the forum works but the pop up ads are detrimental to the function of the forum, can the owner not see that ??, and surely are making posters spend less time here, I know i am. We are reminded occasionally not to use an Adblocker on the forum to gain revenue but that request has become an empty vessel as the forum becomes more and more unusable.

John Cleese - Basil Fawlty set to RETURN !

In a similar vein Roger Waters is releasing his version of Dark Side of the Moon . Imho both events are going to struggle to attract the approval that the originals received 50 years ago. The world is a different place nowadays. -

So, another Bjørn test on the MG4, this time a range test . A mixed bag , thumbs up for the suspension and wind noise, thumbs down for the sound system, adaptive cruise control reactions and some questionable inboard range figures ( another dig at Chinese software ). This time he does throw in a couple of Tesla comments though ! Range appears to come in at 330 km at a steady 90 kph on the highway and down to 226 km when up the speed to 120 kph, a long way from the 425 km range (NEDC) quoted by MG, of course with a mixture of highway and city driving 350 km should be possible thanks to regen and some careful driving. All in all, this is still, imho, a great little car at a great price, the driving experience has to be the best in its class, again imho ????. -

I don’t see much bias towards Tesla , not in the videos I have watched anyway, he does reference German cars a lot and certainly takes a poke at Chinese software now and then. But he’s very relatable to my situation, driving cars on Thai roads with Thai climate and reviews models that are available in Thailand. Also, any info on local charging is surely useful. The comments about Thai driving in general, right lane huggers as he calls them as he hugs the right lane ! always bring a smile to my face. Reviews of cars features, looks, quality and price etc can be got elsewhere but actual reviews relevant to Thailand are few and far between, unless you are fluent in Thai of course. Thaiautonews is another YouTuber who is worthy of a watch but not as comprehensive or as fun as Bjørn’s imho. -

Yup, MG4 jockeying for position against Atto 3 in my personal/affordable EV favourite. Here’s Bjørn putting it through its paces on the mountain stress test ……… did he find some problem ?? ( but he was , to use his own words , “ hammering “ it initially ) Maybe , loading some weight in the car and giving it a more sedate run up the mountain would be a more realistic test ?? -
Famous English Singer Sam Smith visits Samui Island
Andrew Dwyer replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Corden was funny in character in Gavin and Stacey but somehow rose to fame very quickly and gained the American chat show host gig where he imposed “ superstar “ status on himself. After that he quickly became super annoying, imho, and frequently popped up on the U.K. comedy shows ( 8 out of 10 cats etc ) where he appears to adopt the “ I’m funnier than the other guests “ mantle, also imho. But his Carpool Karaoke remain an innovative ( even if he is not actually driving) format and some of his guests are in the top tier . Not wanting to completely post a character assassination piece I will say that he has a great voice and often surprises his guests with his knowledge of the songs. I seem to remember him on Graham Norton saying he was in a boy band many years ago where he wrote most of the songs. -
Constantly watching disgusting people eat on TV!
Andrew Dwyer replied to CanadaSam's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My wife too seems to find watching people eat large amounts of food with large amounts of lip smacking appealing !! She is also addicted to watching ingrown toenails being corrected in tortuous fashion . I find solace in the fact she never adopted the pimple popping or ear wax removal binge watching trend . -

Another Bangkok challenge from Bjørn, this time in the MG4 Bjørn shows us some charging challenges, quick review of the lane assist software and adaptive cruise control annoyances in the MG4 and, as usual, some of his food options !! On the plus side a big thumbs up for the suspension and ride experience. Always entertaining . -

How to get a stray cat out of our house.
Andrew Dwyer replied to khaepmu's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
About 8 months ago a cat appeared at our front door meowing loudly, we gave it some tuna and left over rice and it devoured it. Quickly adopted us as a source of nutrition and came regularly to feed, we started buying cat food and nicknamed him Lucky. He will sleep on a cushion outside overnight and as soon as we show signs of stirring will make it known he is ready for his breakfast. He likes to come inside to sleep off the food and can spend most of the daylight hours asleep inside if we let him ( we never leave him inside alone ). He can disappear for a couple of days at a time, visiting his other “ families “ but always returns. I think we can assume that he feels safe with us . -

Or to put it another way, going by this photo if I use the TOU meter only for charging an EV at 7 kWh will i be on the lower tariff or the higher ? ( the below 12 kV is confusing me ) Also, I am on PEA if that makes any difference . -

Buy a tin of tuna, open it and put just outside the door, the cat will get interested in the tuna before long.
