  1. Yes, I hope I didn’t come across as a smug bar steward, I just wanted to make you aware. I’ve been following the MG4 for a while on FB groups and YouTube reviews and I admit it wasn’t exactly obvious what specs are being sold here, on the MG website the X and D have the LFP battery and the same quoted range but it’s all in Thai so not clear. Also elsewhere the Trophy/Exclusive(Ireland) equivalent of the X version is only available in extended range adds to the confusion. As i said earlier it’s a great looking car with great spec and an attractive price , a shame about the extended range not available here although the benefits of the LFP battery ( being able to charge to 100 % daily and safer ) add to its appeal. I’m currently interested in the BYD Atto 3 but the cheaper MG4 X , with a dealership over the road , a reasonable chance to part ex my existing MG and the no nonsense interior compared to the Atto 3 makes it a strong contender . From what I’ve seen so far the MG4 has had a few (3) issues but all resolved and the only real complaint is the low range achieved in the U.K. winter which obviously won’t be a problem here.
  2. I think you will find that both the X and the D models here in Thailand have the standard range ( 51 kWh ) battery. In the U.K. the SE (D) is available in standard range and SE (D) and Trophy (X) available in extended range . “ The MG4 is priced at 869,000 Baht for the D variant and 969,000 Baht for the X variant. It comes with a 51kWh lithium battery powering a rear-mounted motor developing 170hp and 250Nm The MG4 has a range of 425kms (NEDC) or 350kms (WLTP).It is built from MG’s new Nebula Pure Electric Platform and offers sporty handling, thanks to a low center of gravity, short overhangs and a 50-50 front-rear weight distribution.Distributor MG Thailand recently invited the Thai media for a short drive opportunity for the MG4 X variant at the Pathumthani Speedway. “ Source thaiautonews.net The difference between X and D variants is D lacks: Sat Nav, rear spoiler, 360 degrees camera, access to the iSmart app and voice controls , wireless charger, two tone interior, availability in Brighton Blue amongst other things. The X version on sale here is a good looking car at a great price and the RWD/ LFP battery combination gives an excellent 50/50 weight distribution. Don’t get me wrong, it’s second on my list of EV’s that I would like to buy, if the extended range battery was available here it could be first.
  3. That’s interesting, I thought only the standard range was available in Thailand ?
  4. Nicknamed John Wayne Toilet paper in my youth as “ doesn’t take shiite from anyone “ !!
  5. Actually Lozenges, but as kids we used to eat them like sweets, difficult to find nowadays I guess but as they contained chloroform and ether understandable !!
  6. I suspect this may differ with location . I applied for first extension from my recently acquired O visa on 21st Nov 2022 and extension stamp issued on 13th Dec 2022 with a 90 day notice of 18th Feb 2023 . In my case 90 days reporting starts from the day I applied for the O visa extension not issued date. Ayutthaya IO.
  7. No, I’m in a medium sized moobahn right at the end of a small sub soi .
  8. So, if my supply is adequate ( guess I would need PEA to check that ) i could get an additional meter ( a TOU ) fitted to charge the EV via a breaker and the supplied 7kw charger ? Alternatively I would need a higher rate of supply ? a 30/100 ? Or a 3.7 kw charger which would increase my charging time a lot and probably means I run into peak times ? All this is based on a 60 kWh EV if that helps. Obviously electricity is not my forte , please be gentle ????
  9. So it looks like i am on a 15/45 meter , what would be required, if anything, to get suitable for an EV in-house charging on a 7kw charger ?
  10. I remember when the US started using biometrics to enter ( early 2000’s ? ) so fingerprints and a snapshot became the norm. Brazilian immigration took this personally, although other nationalities had to conform also, and started separate immigration lines for US citizens only. Indignation was high among visiting Americans as the lines entering São Paulo were of Suvarnabhumi levels at times and Americans were quite clearly being victimised. Imagine the level of reclamation in this situation, a lot of chest beating and chants of USA USA , it was quite fun to watch. The segregation only lasted a few weeks but the highlight was the American Airlines pilot who gave the immigration camera “ the bird “, he got his 15 minutes of fame and a $13k fine. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna3961395
  11. Another little thing you might not be aware of: The info screen rotation seems a little superfluous to me and landscape seems adequate for all situations imo ( unless in Sat Nav mode portrait is a better option ? ). Anyway, if you hold the screen rotation button located on the steering wheel for a few seconds a screen pops up with options for the use of said button: a) screen rotation b) take a dash cam photo c) start a dash cam video ( press again to stop recording ) All 3 options a little superfluous imo but maybe a snapshot or being able to start a video at will suits you better ?
  12. The MG4 rose £1000 in the U.K. at the same time , not sure if same in Europe or going to affect Thai price.
  13. This guy explains how to remove that annoying whirring sound ( starts around the 7.45 minute mark ).
  14. Watching the CCTV shown on the news it appears she was distracted by the raising barrier and didn’t see the guy crouched almost underneath it. But , yes, seems hard to believe she wasn’t aware that she was driving over a body. Quite harrowing to see the guy writhing in agony from under her car until he died shortly after.
  15. Honda HRV EV due in Thailand this year: Standard range : 53.6kWh battery, range 420 km Long range : 68.8 kWh battery, range 510 km Expected price range 1.2/1.3 million baht after government discount. Based on the current HRV with slight changes. https://autolifethailand.tv/honda-enp1-ens1-ev-bev-thailand-mou/?fbclid=IwAR0zmokuPMjAdU2MVN0jY0T0uSU3-mlKnKuN7OpELdt1PwuOjG9JSnQiITA Made in Thailand but unlikely to be seen before towards the end of 2023.
  16. Thanks for that. The MG app for my ICE is quite basic and only realistically being able to start the air con remotely is any use , although a poster has stated he used it to start his car once a week from oseas . Used it a couple of times to pre-cool the car remotely imagining it was then just a case of approaching the car , unlocking and driving away but it wasn’t that simple and I lost interest in the app. On an EV the app should be more useful. The voice commands also, being in Thai only, are quite limited on an MG, after using them once as a test they also became redundant. It was this video that perked my interest on voice commands available on as Atto 3, hence my question, I could see myself using the “ aircon up one “ “ “set aircon to 25 degrees “ or “ find a charge station nearby “ after seeing this video. But I do understand, there’s an awful lot of tech on these Chinese EV’s and using apps and voice controls are probably best put on the back burner until more familiarity with the car is gained. Seeing only positive reviews with this car so far and it has got to be a big contender against MG and GWM especially when the Thailand factory comes on line.
  17. Excellent report @BKKBike09 . Just a couple of questions: Is the Sat Nav available in English and are Apple Carplay and Android Auto ( wired ) available ? (not available on early released models but promised to be coming soon ). Is there an app ? ( useful for cooling car remotely but probably very useful for monitoring/controlling charging ). Just watched a YouTube video ( either AUS or NZ ) and there’s an impressive amount of voice commands, are voice commands available in English ? ( both MG and GWM voice commands are only in Thai I believe ).
  18. Applying for an O visa is 2,000 baht, an extension is 1,900 baht, nothing untoward there. Multi re-entry permit is 3,800 baht.
  19. More likely rushed the release of the car to compete with the increasing EV market. Unsure at the moment if the bulge is entirely caused by misaligned fixing holes in the plastic undertray or there is additional heating causing warping . The fixing bolts are reportedly M10 threads so should have been picked up if manually fitted, assuming they are fitted by automation.
  20. Have researched quite a bit on the MG4 through some Fb groups and YouTube reviews, it has been around since Sept 2022 in the U.K. so plenty of info available. It would appear actual range for the bigger battery is 425km ( 265 miles ) and 350km ( 218 miles ) for the smaller battery which is what will be available here in Thailand, but still okay imo. ( obviously these figures are only a guide and driver dependent ). A couple of early issues: Oil leak from the gearbox has been fixed by a new breather pipe. Some owners find themselves locked in their car with no way out other than scrambling out the boot ! has been fixed with an update needing a dealership visit. Some distortion of the rear undertray has been identified as misalignment of the tray and bolt holes making a “ bulge “ and an opening in which wind and water etc can enter . A new undertray is being trialled apparently but owners are asked to return to the dealership in the short term to check for loose or missing bolts.
  21. Anyone have any idea when the Government EV incentive will end ?
  22. Yes, didn’t you read the op ?? Yes, plenty of COD available from China .
  23. That’s the Jolion, slightly smaller sister to H6 , my favourite at the moment. Lacks the turbo engine of the H6 and only available ( in Thailand ) in HEV . Online user groups stating problems with fuel consumption as the biggest issues , can achieve some healthy 20+ km/l figures but some conservative driving procedures have to be adopted. I’m in hope that a Jolion PHEV will be in the pipeline. Looks stunning in white and currently has sold out in white colour.
  24. Yes, that’s my point, there’s a lot of stuff for the 100k but have to put up with the, imo, bad taste interior .
  25. Sticking with the MG4 for a minute. Plenty of reviews on YouTube and mostly very positive regarding price, range, quality and general driving comfort . Negative points are few with average boot space and no designated area for cable storage being the greatest but most reviewers saddened to see lack of rear armrest, no usb port behind r/v mirror ( great for dashcam and frees up the other USB ports ) , grab handles, settings ( drive mode, regen strength etc ) not being saved upon restarting and NO rear wiper ( MG claims the angle or rear window makes it unnecessary ? ). The two models available here ( X and D ) don’t have sunroofs and the price difference ( 100k baht ) is made up by lack of Sat Nav, 360 degree camera, reversing camera, interior trim level, V2L , some of the safety features ( ADAS etc ) and no smart app connection. Also a rather OTT spoiler on the rear, an additional blue colour choice and all X models have a black roof ( the latest fashion accessory ???? ). As is usual with the chinese cars available in Thailand the top of the range models get a “ special “ two tone interior which is not always to everyone’s taste , my ZS ICE is okay but I would have preferred a more conservative colour coordination. So the D level misses out on the above features but does have a plain black interior and is 100K cheaper while the X level gets all the bells and whistles but you have to contend with this : Would much prefer the plain seating but it’s a lot to give up, despite saving 100k , especially V2L and the cameras, the Sat Nav can always be overridden with Apple Carplay or Android Auto but judging by my current MG Sat Nav it’s a really nice option to have. I’m a big fan of the GWM and MG cars but i just wish their idea of luxury didn’t have to include 3 or 4 colours !! Hate to fit seat covers but sometimes you just have to !!
