Good. CNN has no right to be there. Press releases and press briefings are for the American People, not CNN or any other misbehaved misanthropic news non-reporter.CNN says its correspondent was excluded from covering White House Trump event
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - CNN said on Wednesday that one of its White House correspondents, Kaitlin Collins, was excluded from covering one of President Donald Trump's events on Wednesday, prompting a complaint by the White House Correspondents Association.
Collins was barred from a Rose Garden event for asking questions at an earlier event about an audio recording of Trump purportedly discussing with his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, a fund being established to pay a former Playboy model, Karen McDougal, for keeping quiet about an alleged affair with Trump.
Collins asked about the audio recording in a picture-taking session in the Oval Office as Trump met with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
CNN said in a statement that Collins was told by White House communications director Bill Shine and press secretary Sarah Sanders that her questions had been "inappropriate" and that she could not attend an event later in the Rose Garden during which Trump and Juncker announced a joint working dialogue on trade.
"This decision to bar a member of the press is retaliatory in nature and not indicative of an open and free press. We demand better," CNN said.
Trump has frequently complained about CNN's coverage of his presidency, saying he feels it is unfair. The White House had no immediate comment CNN's statement.
Olivier Knox, president of the White House Correspondents Association, denounced the White House decision.
"We strongly condemn the White House's misguided and inappropriate decision today to bar one of our members from an open press event after she asked questions they did not like," Knox said in a statement.
"This type of retaliation is wholly inappropriate, wrong-headed, and weak. It cannot stand.
"Reporters asking questions of powerful government officials, up to and including the President, helps hold those people accountable. In our republic, the WHCA supports the prerogative of all reporters to do their jobs without fear of reprisal from the government," Knox said.

The few times I've asked for a price with Grab via the app, the price has been 30-40% above what I'd expect to pay in a taxi meter. Some may find that a small price to pay for having a driver come to their door for a fixed fare journey. Others, myself included, like to support our many poor Isaan taxi drivers, most of whom are personable and friendly when treated with respect in their own language - though I grant there are sharks in tourist areas - as there are throughout the world.
And there is a major difference, I am in Bangkok. What about supporting those fine folks driving for Grab?

Unfortunately, the people get what they deserve when they abdicate responsibility for their government to others. There was a movie from 60's, called "Who's minding the mint." I can tell you who isn't minding the mint, and it's Thai People.
The people with guns are the ones who run the place. In my country, The USA, the people have guns and lots of them. We have them primarily as a reminder to those we place in power, not to usurp more than we give them. No one here fears the electorate.

First it was taxi drivers not using the meter. Now it has degenerated to grab driver and grab taxi.
I feel sorry for you guys.
I feel sorry for you. Wake up. Many taxi drivers try to pull the no meter scam. Or, you have to get them to take you where want and many times they refuse. Or, there are no seatbelts in the back seat because they cut them out or hid them under the seat. Or, the taxi is dirty as many of them are. Taxi drivers have little reason to adhere to the law or rules of the road. Grab drivers get rated immediately after the trip. Who do you think is better motivated to provide good service?

Condoms
I had someone give me a hard time when I said Asians were smaller than Americans and Europeans. I'm sure the PC crowd will howl and squeal at such a statement, but there is a reason that one can only buy a 36 sized condom here as the largest available. I think 29 is the smallest but for most of us, 36 is a bit snug. I have to import mine from Amazon. There's a reason the Thais don't sell larger than 36 and that is because 29-36 covers most of them. It, however, does little for us.

I thought Uber was better than Grab before Uber sold its SE Asia bits to Grab, but Grab is still better than regular taxis. As someone mentioned, when booking, be sure to opt for Grab Car, and not Grab Taxi. The only gripe I have with Grab now is that it often takes longer for a car to arrive than you're first told when you book.
Uber was cheaper and gave away discount codes. I thought Uber took forever to come. Grab was always better that way, but more expensive. Now we have only the choice between jerkoff cabbies and Grab Drivers. I'll take Grab. I have never used a moto taxi, grab or otherwise and I won't use JustGrab as I won't use a Taxi unless I have no choice. 4 out of 5 taxi drivers are cheating scumbags. 95 out of 100 Grab drivers are excellent. You can do the math.

A good rule of thumb when dealing with Apple, is never to waste much time with first tier support. Always asked to have your call escalated to tier two support. They are the only ones who can get things done. Customer Relations answers to the CEO's office so they can get anything done. They are still limited in forcing the Thais to honor their contractual obligations.

Uber was great. Grab, not so much.
It's worth it to me to pay a little more so I don't have to deal with ass&$&$$&les and I know I'm going to get a clean car with seatbelts.

I can put you in touch with Apple's highest and most powerful group in Singapore. It's called the customer relations group and you won't get to anyone there without directly asking for them. They are troubleshooters at Apple. You didn't mention having Applecare so do you have it? That Apple can do nothing may be nonsense, but these CRETINS who are under contract with Apple are just that, under contract. They don't work for Apple directly they work as contractors. Apple as yet has no Apple Store in Thailand let alone Bangkok.
Long story short, I had the Thunderbolt ports go bad on the iMac that I brought to Thailand from the States. I used them for external monitors. Applecare entitles you to onsite repair. Not one of the 6 providers under contract wanted to come to Lad Prao due to the BTS induced traffic. It took me a month, but I made them replace my iMac with a brand new I7 iMac 27". It was shipped from Singapore and they sent DHL to come to pick up the broken one. There are two takeaways from this experience. One, and the best advice I can give is not to buy APPLE anything. Their hardware sucks. I bought a 21 inch iMac in 2008 and that is the only iMac I ever paid for. I have had 4 free replacements and the one I am on now is the fourth. Two, always buy Applecare. Three, for a MacBook, you would have done better to take a trip to another country with an Apple store and let them repair it. For the money, Apple isn't worth it. You're better off spending money on a new Dell. For the money, you can buy two, maybe three Dells.
I'll PM you to give you the info.
PS my new year and half old iMac has now developed BlueTooth problems which means another logic board (motherboard) replacement. I'm very interested to know the scumbag who is holding your Mac hostage as I'll be sure to tell Apple support in Singapore to steer clear of them.
It's another example of Apple's stellar hardware breaking down again. Since 2008 I have probably have had 15 onsite repairs over 3 different iMacs. That might be a conservative number too.

A country that allows the rape of its children speaks to the despicable and scummy nature of this country. This shows just how mean and cruel the Thai people can be. Thailand likes to think that its people are of a kind and compassionate character, but they're not. This latest episode of Thai conduct displays this all too well. The teachers and administrators of this school raped these girls as well and should be treated as such.
And the salient part of that post was:
QuoteThe teachers and administrators of this school raped these girls as well and should be treated as such.
Which made me think of misprision of a felony. Imagine me thinking there might be a Thai equivalent. But there there now, it's all ok.

The title of this is "Thai PE teacher allowed to rape students for three years"
It really should say alleged in that sentence, as no court of law has found him guilty of anything, yet.

What a nonsense statement. Do they send someone home with him, or is only at risk of taking the coward's way out if he is working a non-essential desk job.

The only downside of living in Thailand; surrounded by guys like this. Before anybody posts that there are guys like this in every corner of the world - Yes! That is so. But, here in Thailand, it's in your face 24/7; makes me want to puke!
It's not in your face 24/7. If it is, then you are hanging out in the wrong places. Britain has serious problems with pedos. At least here, their media doesn't hide it.

As I stated earlier, I am on my 4th or 5th iMac since 2008. It was an Applecare replacement. It is developing Bluetooth issues which means a new logic board (motherboard). The Singapore folks have been at it all week to find a repair person to come to my condo and swap the logic board with a new one. This wasn't the greatest week for the effort, but I'm still waiting to hear from the case owner at Apple Singapore. If I take a trip somewhere, I'll let them take my iMac, but I won't sit and wait for its return.
