  1. I'm not suggesting but stating that the risk of dying from a terrorist attack in France is vanishingly small.  Yet some people such as yourself think it's such a crucial issue that it should be determinative of who is the next French President. If you want zero risk from a terrorist attack, you probably would need to live in a country like North Korea. Maybe for you that's an acceptable tradeoff.

And some people such as yourself think that Muslim terrorist attacks within France is not a topic that should be faced with vigour by politicians?

Tell that to all the innocent people's families that have been murdered in France, all in the name of Allah!

How can any right minded person believe the threat of terrorism should

be accepted as a day to day occurrence, similar to vehicle accidents?

  2. Over 1000 people dead from road accidents in france in one year alone. France needs a strong leader to stop this.

    Dead from road "accidents".

Are Muslim terrorist killings also "accidents"?

When one decides to drive a vehicle on the highways, you are always going to be at potential risk.

Are you suggesting that the French people should also accept some risk each time they step outside their home and accept the potential risk of Muslim fanatics in their homeland?

  3. The TT 200 is at the motor show. 169k on road and here in July. The little 180cc twin cam motor really revs and sounds great with a scomadi pipe.

Went to the show on Saturday. Vespa didn't have anything new apart from an electric Vespa so i paid deposit for the TT200, delivery late June.

Bought the red/white at 175k but got 10k off as a promotion at the show.

  4.
I thought all credit card cash advances charge a fee plus interest beginning at once.
Your credit card has no fee for a cash advance (including  a cash advance abroad), just interest charges?

A good deal if that's the case. What credit card is that?

    It's the Halifax Clarity MasterCard.

No charges for cash advances home or abroad.
No fees from the exchange rate as they use the MasterCard rate which is better than the exchange booths.

  5. Was there yesterday. Very busy.

    most tables occupied with buyers.

I looked around the bike manufacturers. Yamahas new scooter is real ugly. Nothing new from Honda that stands out. Vespa had new electric Vespa & a new electric bike manufacturer Storm had an electric scooter that was an exact replica of a 50's Vespa.

I paid deposit on the new Scomadi TT200. 175k but got 10k off If ordered at the show.

  6. As a retiree, I am fortunate because my bank in Canada allows me to make two ATM withdrawals each month while I am out of the country.  However, it is 5:08 pm on 29 March, 2017 and 10 minutes ago I went to withdraw money from a TMB ATM.  All went well until I was asked if I agreed to pay the 220 Baht fee for the transaction. CANCELLED immediately as this fee increase is nothing but another Thai banking scam.

Beware, look before pushing those buttons.

Walk into a bank and withdraw money using the machine inside with your card & showing your passport.

You can withdraw anything up to your cards limit free of charge ie I withdrew 100,000 baht. No charges as your not using the ATM.

  7. 16 hours ago, simple1 said:

And? Police forensics have found drugs and alcohol in the assailants blood. Sounds as though the guy was a real loser what with drinking all night prior to the attacks, shooting a cop with a pellet air gun and an extensive criminal record. Luckily for police and civilians a complete moron.

He was found to be just over the legal alcohol limit for driving & cannabis does not evoke violence.

He was already on the authorities radar after becoming a radicalised Muslim when serving a prison term few years ago.

  8. I am Swedish and what I have seen thus far; that most Swedish people that are pro Trump or Swedishdemocrates that live in Thailand is:

They complain that immigrants that comes to Sweden doesn't integrate into the Swedish society, but yet they come to Thailand:

Does not speak the language after many years in Thailand
Break laws of Thailand daily, weekly
    Only have foreign friends
Are immigrants but complain about multi culture in Sweden?
Get most of their news from alt right Facebook pages

    Such hypocrites

Please list the laws that they break with proven links?

And how many of these so called people in Thailand demonstrate daily on the streets, demanding Christian law or to change the laws of Thailandื

How many burn Thai flags denouncing Thai law?

Please feel free to discuss this hate of Thailand that you speculate....

  9. It's been a few years, but I was able to do the same with a US debit card @ Bangkok Bank currency exchange window. Some US credit cards have no foreign transaction fees for good and services purchased abroad, but not for cash advances. Actually, there may be no "fee" for the cash advance transaction, but the grace period does not apply to cash advances and they start charging interest on the cash advance immediately.

Yes correct, no grace period. You need to pay the balance as soon as it appears on your online statement. Next day usually or else you incur interest charges but still minimal as opposed to bank transfer fee's.

My credit card allows cash advances as well as goods/services. I can use it at currency exchange Windows as well free of charge.

  10. Eventually entered with a 30 days permission of stay.

Emirates asked me to produce a flight out of Thailand within 30 days before boarding in Lyon, which I did (cheap air Asia ticket Don Muang - Kuala Lumpur)

Immigration officer at suvarnabhumi didn't ask for such ticket.

At the exact 30th day I went to Kotha Baru (Malaysia) with HD Visa agency to get a Tourist Visa.

Everything went smoothly, I'm on the way back now, visa in the pocket. Total trip duration is 39h (van, boat, hotel).

Didn't have to go to the consulate myself, everything is taken care of by Herbert.

My flight back to France is in exactly 59 days so I won't need to request an extension of stay.

Note that the consulate in KB requires a flight ticket out of Thailand within the next 60 days IF you already had TWO OR MORE Tourist Visas (according to Herbert)

Note that the van drivers drive really fast which might not suit everybody. If I have to do it again I might rather go with a slower agency.

    Cheers

The way you did it, is the correct way. Use a visa agency and do a visa run by van.

Do not listen to others telling you to fly to Laos/Cambodia/Malaysia etc for a tourist visa. Yes you will get a tourist visa in these countries, but what people don't realise, this does not guarantee you re-entry when flying back into Thailand. Far too many people have been refused entry at immigration & told to fly straight back out of Thailand from where they've came from or face being detained.

Book a visa run with a Thai visa company and you can relax in the knowledge that your return across the border is guaranteed!
