Soi Buakhao is getting more busy with traffic and pedestrians. It needs to made one way. Also add some 20 mph traffic signs.

You can put up as many warning lights, signs up as you like but they need to be enforced, crossing outside the school flashing lights warning drivers, do they ever slow down or stop, no. I use pedestrian crossings regularly with traffic control, some drivers stop some don’t, bikes tend not to, you forget this is Thailand.where they laws but rarely are they enforced even the wearing of crash hats.

That sounds like the government compulsory insurance which you have to have, in addition to nay voluntary insurance. Both of mine renew on the same date and the insurance company handles renewal of both, don't understand why yours don't. Probably because Compulsory was already in place so you have different renewal dates.

Yes I think you are correct as the garage registered my car for me so they would have had to pay the basic insurance to do this.

  3. I insured my car around August with full Comprehensive Insurance, the Road Tax expires the end of the month, the broker has now said  the Thai Sri Insurance/Motor CTPL - Car - expires on the 28th of December and I have to pay 648 baht to renew it. If I have full comprehensive insurance why do I still need to pay the Thai Sri Insurance/Motor CTPL - Car - ?

If he has a frozen state pension, he has already contributed to British Society through payment of National Insurance.

75000 +currently claiming asylum, how are they going to select the 200 Rwanda are going to take at a cost of £140 million which has now been topped up by another £40 million the other day, expensive ‘digs’ It would be cheaper keeping them in the U.K. ,no way is sending people to Rwanda going to discourage people crossing the channel, very large odds you could be selected to be sent to Rwanda.

And that is the question!  I'm hoping this announcement is just to give the extreme right of the Tory party and Brexiters, if there any left,  (e.g. Sunella and even Farage who is making waves with his new party) some red meat before the election.

I don’t think Labour will reverse it, they want to reduce the migration figures as well but they won’t commit how they are going to do it as yet.

So how do other more tech savvy countries, like Singapore etc, manage ? If you are on overstay the Machine reading would not let you through. I like having my exit stamps as it’s easy to follow up dates . It’s a reminder and proof for someone going in and out regularly.

Only if you were on a data base which shows how long you have been where ever, does the local Immigration Office linked to the one at the airport ?

You won't be heading anywhere, far less the departure gate if the E gates don't open. They will be programmed to only open if everything checks out, and that is not a 100%.

Many struggle to get E gates to open with a boarding card far less a passport.

It’s only scanning your personal details, there might be system in place if you are on a wanted list and the gates won’t open.

9 times out of 10 my passport for some reason never opens the gates in the U.K. and I have to get it checked manually.

That is probably becoz airline staff were fully aware of the covid situation, and those there, were not forced to go to Immigration for an extension, and your wife didn't have to do 90day reports or have anybody report her staying within 24 hrs. I think education is the reason :giggle:

The check in staff only check if you have the correct visa, documentation etc to enter the country you are travelling to, they don’t look through your passport pages looking for stamps, it’s not in their mandate.
We did advise Border Control of the overstay every month but all we had were emails confirming it was ok.

The UK Heathrow departure immigration system does not even exist, check in with airline who will do the check for a visa/overstay etc.. if necessary. get boarding pass, go directly to gate, where your boarding is scanned, and off you go.   That's in the real world

Newcastle and Teesside the same, no Passport checks when you leave the country although they can do spot checks.

We got ‘stuck’ in the U.K. for 15 months due to Covid travelling restrictions, my Thai wife was on a 6 month Visitor Visa. When we left the U.K. no questions were asked when she checked in about overstay.

    OP, ignore the reminder.

Your 90 day clock was reset when you reentered.

That stamp date is day 1..

As for the TM30 it is not required however some immigration offices are not following the rule changes to TM30 made June 2020.

    Thinking CM is one example.

    Which immigration office?

I beleive Jomtien have said you need a TM30 when doing a 90 Day Report ?

As I said, I wish to buy my spectacles online. The only thing I need is a new prescription. Thanks for your help.

No idea where you’re from but in the U.K. it’s £25 for an eye test although some of the franchises are ‘free’ ,they will give you the prescription even if you don't buy anyspecs.

i understand they might not give you a prescription unless you pay for it, they couldn’t operate a successful business if they were giving free prescriptions out only.

I took your advice and used Google. All the answers were spectacles shops. You had a test yesterday last week? Did they hand you the prescription? I can get an eye test in every spectacles shop in town for free but none of them will give me a prescription.

Optometrists in Pattaya, they are few and far between, I would only buy specs from the place that I had the eye test as a well know chain of spec shops fitted the wrong lenses.

I can find plenty of optometrists in my area but they are all in shops that sell spectacles. They will only give you your prescription once you have purchased spectacles from them. The place in JJ did an eye test but would not give me the prescription. A pair of progressive lenses there ranged from 20- 28,000 baht. I wish to buy my spectacles online but require a prescription to do so. I will gladly pay a spectacles shop for a prescription but can't find one willing to do it without purchasing spectacles.

There might be plenty of shops selling specs but very few employ optometrists, they give you a very basic eye test, an Optometrists would inspect your eyes for any sign of disease not just an eye test.

I had an eye test yesterday at an Optometrists last week in Nakula, it was free, they don’t charge for eye tests obviously relying on you buying specs.
