  1. russian hackers will not empty your bank account using yet another Whatsapp vulnerability. But yes, for a peace of mind you would have to remove all the preinstalled cráp.
  2. such phones do not exist, because the manufacturers profit from collecting and reselling customers' data. one of the solutions is installing custom OS such as LineageOS with privacy software such as XPrivacyLua.
  3. yes, this is correct. However this approach: is not correct. You should have a rooted phone for normal everyday usage and a separate device for banking which should have NO any other apps installed except the bank ones.
  4. this is my preferred choice, however it does not fit the topic starter's budget.
  5. same as Whatsapp, Telegram, and every single other mainstream messenger. the most important part of this database is not a specifications but an ability to flash a custom firmware. If you could install LineageOS it means that you could install anything else.
  6. buy a generic "50 baht tourist SIM", activate an internet package for 1 month, and buy a 1 year unlimited SIM from Lazada or Shopee. avoid True everywhere ????
  7. I often get severe connection issues with AIS, usually these issues are between Bangkok and Singapore (resulting in most international traffic being extremely slow because Thailand is connected to most countries via Singapore)
  8. I share my experience here: https://aseannow.com/topic/1224885-ordering-a-lenovo-thinkpad-4-weeks/page/3/ in short, @blackcab is right - the import duty is random here, most likely you will be required to pay VAT 7%, and less probably but still possible you will be required to pay extra 10% import tax for "electronics". If you are lucky you will pay nothing.

Try using their website instead of an app: https://shopee.co.th/
  10. just buy a second hand device and flash a custom ROM. start here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/ //lol first I didn't notice the phrase about used phones, then I didn't notice the word "NOT" in that phrase
  11. Krungsri staff once told me the very opposite when I was trying to send SWIFT from the personal account to a company bank account in Canada - 'if same passport name no need invoice, if different passport name need show invoice' because TiT
  12. Yes this must be an email client setting rather then the server deleting old messages on its own will. You should check "another person"s email client settings, I believe their client does that. Also you could try using POP3 protocol instead of IMAP, if your email server allows that. POP3 does not delete local messages on sync if they were deleted on server. Just make sure to setup downloading full message contents instead of header only.
  13. How did you determine their citizenship, did they wear a T-shirts with Putin or "Z"? Did you ask them for their passports? Do you know that half of Ukraine speaks russian? Are you sure that they were speaking russian not bulgarian? What about tourists from Moldova and Latvia?
  14. most likely one of those set up a "fake VPN" to filter out ads and malware.
  15. not only for you, as an information security specialist I could confirm that banking on a smartphone is a recipe for disaster.
  16. AIS "marathon" SIM, ~1500 THB/year, advertised 15 Mbps speed and 100GB traffic/month tested: average speed is 10Mbps, maximum speed was ~30 Mbps, checked with servers in Bangkok (speedtest), Japan (testmy.net), and my own servers in France and Netherlands I believe this "15 Mbps" SIM could yield even higher speeds but I have pretty bad network coverage here (about 20% LTE signal and about 40% 3G signal) still I would prefer DTAC over AIS but I have a few DTAC SIMs already and thus have to diversify the network connections.
  17. most likely a VPN sign, and yes it could be an adblocker because some adblockers setup a "fake VPN" network connection to intercept all traffic and filter ads out of this traffic.
  18. I would take the parts such as RAM and PCI cards out, or at least take off the CPU heatsink if it is heavy.
  19. crypto is good for small amounts (<$5k) and large amounts (>$100k), for other than that crypto is a PITA.
  20. i meant a debit card. find another hosting provider then, if your current one does not accept plain cards but Paypal only.
  21. I've entered all zeros and it got accepted what about paying with credit card? you could just make a new card and keep a minimal amount required to pay for your stuff.
  22. does Paypal require to prove your residence address by showing them an electricity bill or bank account statement? I don't remember because I've registered many years ago. Maybe a solution could be registering a new account in Paypal Singapore using a random address from Google Maps and then attaching your Thai credit card. I've used my home country credit card for several years in Paypal Thailand without any questions, until it expired, so they definitely do not check the card issuing country when you attach a card to Paypal account.
  23. you are not ready to purchase crypto yet, first you need to learn what cryptocurrency is and how it works
