I do too but the CVT is a deal breaker for me. -
Advice sought on best small hatchbacks/cars
In the jungle replied to Toolong's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I am also looking for a small hatchback. As I am determined to go to my grave without ever owning an automatic that means a choice between: Celerio Swift up to 2018 Nissan March I will probably end up with the Swift. Nissan isn't bad but I think it looks like a clown car. Celerio is dirt cheap in manual form and I like simple cars. -
Home Office civil servants expressed their displeasure that disparaging comments about them had been put out in Suella Braverman's name. Since then she has denied authorship and/or prior knowledge of the comments and has been seeking to repair the damage. The OP's post is rather misleading on this point.

I am such a person. I have been here 22 years and at all times my stay here has been entirely legal. I have never used an agent. Here is why I have never used the 'money in the bank' method: Lets say that instead of putting 800K in a Thai bank and getting a pittance in interest you invest the money in a credible first world market. If you had only 5% growth per annum compounded over that 22 year period you would now have more than 2.3 million. In actual fact my investments did much better than that over the last 22 years. So, as I illustrate, some people on this forum are paying a very high price for the warm glow of self-righteousness.

The sales woman at my local dealer was right. A new model Yaris was introduced yesterday. It is on Toyota's website now. A bit of a restyle, more electronics. I do like the fact that all variants have LED headlights now.
-
I think I have the answer to the question. I went to my local Toyota dealer also in the South today. The sales woman there, who spoke excellent English, explained that they did not have any Yaris remaining onsite because they were expecting delivery of an "all new" Yaris literally this afternoon with minor styling changes. They did not know the prices for the new cars today but higher than present model. Based on what she said the changes are mostly electronic toys. The car underneath is the same old Yaris as it has been since 1834. Maybe go back in a weeks time.

Pools in high rise condos

You need 25 metre length at a minimum for a swimming pool. Otherwise it is just for playing and photos. -
RE: 60 day extension to visit your wife
In the jungle replied to khaepmu's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
They accept a foreign marriage certificate for the 60 day extension where I live in the South without additional red tape. As just about everybody here knows Thai immigration are inconsistent from one office to another as to their requirements. -
I still use an iPhone 5 that is a decade old. It works perfectly.

RE: 60 day extension to visit your wife
In the jungle replied to khaepmu's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
1. I entered on a tourist visa. 2. I married outside of Thailand and no KR 22 was required for the 60 day extension. No translation and certification of marriage certificate required for this extension. -
RE: 60 day extension to visit your wife
In the jungle replied to khaepmu's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I chose to get a visa not for the extra fifteen days but because I had two years worth of covid extensions in my passport. My thinking was that there is a greater presumption to admit someone with a visa than without. -

In the jungle replied to khaepmu's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I can confirm that is right. In 2022/23 I did: 1. Single entry tourist visa (60 days) 2. Extension to tourist visa (30 days) 3. Extension to visit Thai wife (60 days) -
Thinking about buying a used car in Thailand
In the jungle replied to SiSePuede419's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The current Accord in Thailand has either a 1.5 litre turbo or a rather lame 2.0 litre NA engine. Neither floats my boat. -
Deflect and deny seems to be standard government MO. Remember all the pollution comes from Laos, Burma and Indonesia; not from Big Brother up north. It absolutely does not come from all the Thai diesel pickups and buses. The boys in brown check relentlessly and enforcement is their middle name. Crop burning? There is no crop burning because we made it illegal.

Have you ever gone more than 48 hours without sleep?
In the jungle replied to Tayida's topic in Health and Medicine
I have done it a couple of times running race cars in 24 hour endurance races. In my experience mental degradation is more a factor than physical degradation. Quality and speed of decisions degrade as well as powers of concentration and reaction times. I certainly would not ever willingly do it again. -
Sugguestions - electric small city 4 door car.
In the jungle replied to scorecard's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The Celerio IMO is a very clever car in terms of bang for buck. But then I have always been fond of suck, squeeze, bang, blow. -
I did actually have a hotel booked in Sav. I just don't remember the name two months on. Though I very much doubt Laos Immigration would bother going to the lengths of checking a hotel reservation.
-
I put XXXX Hotel, Savannakhet with no more detail given for the address. eVisa application approved. That was in January 2023. I don't remember the hotel name.

Did you remember to lube your carb Papa? Maybe that is the way to regain your mojo.

I think a trailer that is going to be used on the roads has to be registered with the DLT. More pointless red tape. That and the fact that you cannot buy even fairly basic trailer components here, such as a ball hitch, must have something to do with it. It also perplexes me that there are no vans here. By that I mean something like the Ford Transit or Benz Sprinter. Sure you can buy a pickup and then put some kind of locally produced box on the back but that does not really match the particular qualities of a van.
