  1. Is it really the case that the London Thai embassy expect to see a 5,000 Pound bank balance for the issuance of a sixty day tourist visa? I am in the process of preparing an application for a sixty day tourist visa and the bank balance on the statement I have uploaded, but not submitted, is around 3,300 Pounds. If they really require a bank balance of 5,000 Pounds that leaves me somewhat scuppered as my bank only issues statements on a monthly basis and the next statement is not due until around 7 August. Even if I paid money in tomorrow it would not appear on a document the Thai embassy would/might accept until 7 August.
  2. My apologies for not keeping up to date on this post. This Suzuki Carry was sold on 22 March 2022.
  3. It's a pain that they don't have an ATM air side in Suvarnabhumi. I don't really want to be wandering around with 20K in cash in my pocket. If they had an ATM air side I could withdraw 20K there only if required to show the money by immigration.
  4. I renewed my new British passport in November 2021. They said allow 11 weeks and I picked up the new passport in Bangkok after 7 weeks.
  5. The Saab Gripens are based at Surat Thani in the South. It's about 200 km south of where I live and a few times I have seen them overhead here.
  6. And then there was the Saab Gripen they crashed at an air show in Hat Yai. "I have seen the Red Arrows and Blue Angels on Youtube. I've got this."
  7. About 15 years ago I used to give a fair amount of work to a very good machine shop in Rangsit not far from Don Meung airport. They were often producing copy aircraft parts for the RTAF. So much for rigorously tested traceable aircraft components.
  8. But just to make it more confusing. They still have the map for their old office on the website here: http://www.chumphonimmigration.go.th/map.php The old office was kinda small. The redundant photocopy documents were up to waist level.
  9. While on a multiple entry visa I once got berated by an immigration officer for "using the visa too much".
  10. I know these days it is woke to condemn colonialism but Laos did learn to make decent coffee and baguette sandwiches from the French. But it will cost you a quarter of a million or so for a coffee and a sandwich!
  11. My guess is you mean one of these. I actually have one of these exactly as shown in the advert. It does not get used but I do not want to sell it as it was inherited from my late mother.
  12. A different scam but if I go to my local immigration office and have to give them my phone number for some reason I invariably start getting spam sms text messages a couple of days later.
  13. Another potential problem with riding around on an unregistered bike with no plate is that the police may take a liking to the bike and take it away from you never to be seen again. Good luck with that riding around on a freshly rebuilt 1960s Vespa that doubtless you would have poured a bunch of cash into.
  14. OK. Thank you. I will take a look at the list now. I am not considering doing such a trip but I like to stay informed about Thai immigration issues.
  15. From the guidance of the Thai Embassy, Phnom Penh that ubonjoe posted a link to: "Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country, or at the designated Thai Embassy. Therefore, travelers are advised to contact the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate-General to find out where they may apply for a visa to Thailand before departure." It may be prudent to ask the Embassy about this point before you spend time and money on your trip.
  16. If the fifth day test is unsupervised it is pointless. You could get your dog to do the test!
  17. Because you can't beat a bit of double bubble. That and the fact that cash remains very popular with Thai officials.
  18. Anywhere that has the sign that LarrySR posted. They are everywhere. "Here is my 60 Baht for a pass." Inspection doesn't really enter into it. After ten years they still haven't noticed that there is a mismatch between the registration number in the green book and the plate on the back of one of my bikes. One digit is wrong and it has been like that since I bought it new from a Honda dealer in 2012. It took me seven years to notice.
  19. In fairness I do not actually use those two sources of income in any dealings with Thai Immigration. It would just make matters way too complex for my small local immigration office.
  20. I have to disagree with your last sentence Dr Jack. In my case 60% of my living expenses come from my wife's business. I own 25% of the business and put a significant amount of money into it when it was established back in 2007. A further 25% of my living expenses are funded by the farm that we own which is managed by me. The farm, unsurprisingly, is in my wife's name.
  21. You do not say when your community service order was made or how long it lasted. Info on Rehabilitation Of Offenders Act here: https://www.nacro.org.uk/criminal-record-support-service/support-for-individuals/disclosing-criminal-records/rehabilitation-offenders-act/#community My guess is spent and therefore no need to declare it.
