    Well, it could be that there is something they don't know as well. When you pump a liquid or gas into one end of a conduit, it comes out the other end instantaneously as well.

    No one provides the gas "free" as far as I know. They do generally check it "free" as part of the service. If the unit is gettinf cool and not freezing over it does not need gas. First sign of low gas is the evaporator coil in the inside unit freezing over.

    Not really, I think most brands other than Daiken and Mitsu have pretty good warranties. Samsung is 3-year everything, 10 years compressor.

    With a new Carrier inverter it's five-year all parts, ten years compressor. In any event, dumping 3K into an old unit that has had problems before, just to keep from having to turn the breaker off rather than using the remote makes little sense to me.

    How old and how big is it? If you can afford to dump 3K into a ten-year-old unit you'll get a 30-day warranty on, you can afford to spent 20K on a new unit that comes with a five-year warranty.

    If your unit needs gas it is leaking, and will keep needing gas. I have a 24 and a 20-year-old that have never needed gas, except when I had them moved to new homes.
